Monkeybar is a great place to hang out with friends for happy hour! For some reason they don't offer happy hour on Friday, but they do Sunday-Thursday. I do wish they offered more food on the menu (higher protein item,) but the pizzas are really good. Prices aren't bad for a hotel bar, and service is excellent! I did find out anything listed on the menu (most items,) can be found at The Market (a market near the bar.) Also, your parking is validated for a few hours. So, sit back and enjoy some food and drink at Monkeybar

Quick pre holiday party drinks with coworkers while we waited for our event to start at the convention center next door. The bar was busy with hotel guests and our coworkers. The space was very open with ample seating inside and out. The staff was very friendly and our drinks were made super quick. My husband ordered an old fashion and I ordered the passion by. Both drinks were good, a little pricy but typical hotel pricing. We had a good time catching up with friends before making our way to our event.

Monkeybar is a casual, fun eatery serving cocktails, wine, craft beers and wood-fired pizzas. AMBIANCE Trendy interior-exterior bar with exterior seating by fire pits SERVICE Staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive with regular checkups. FOOD 5/5 Longanisa Pizza (Chef's Monthly Special) Love the Asian flavors here - it's Sweet and Savory Sausage (longanisa) Topped with Atchara (unripe papaya pickle) and fresh and fragrant Micro Cilantro (reminds me of rau mầm) PARKING Garage tickets are validated

Pretty amazing set up there. Was invited because the area is dog friendly and has plenty of Ty of seating & fire pits. Happy hour is definitely worth it. Service & food was perfect. Not sure if they always have a DJ there but we had one the night we were there. Will definitely be back (and they validate your parking if you've ordered food & drink! That's a win-win anytime.

My friend and had been planning to meet at a Mission Valley wine bar on a Friday evening, but found that it wasn't open. So, we looked to find something nearby and found Monkeybar. I had sort of been to Monkeybar several years back when I used Resort Pass to spend a day lounging by the pool. At that time, I had walked up to the bar several times for mimosas, but mainly spent time at the pool rather than in the bar. This time, it was a chilly January evening and we walked in to find that there was a convention at the hotel, so it was pretty packed. The decor was modern, but the bar itself was really just a hotel lobby bar. I was hoping it would have a bit more character. There was a DJ playing, which was cool, but it also was pretty loud making it difficult to catch up with my friend. We struggled as the indoor area was loud and the outdoor area was really cold. The couple of outdoor tables that had fire pits were already taken by convention-goers. Finally, we chose to sit on the outside area of the bar, which was still chilly, but was quiet enough so that we could chat. Anyway, I was a bit hungry, and had been hoping for a salad, but there were none on the menu. We chose to share the edamame hummus. They did have some decent sounding cocktails on the menu, but we were in the mood for wine. We both chose glasses of Malbec. The Malbec was decent, so I had a second glass. Our bartender was friendly, but out hummus was forgotten. After I asked, he expedited our order. I enjoyed the hummus and the variety of veggies. As it got colder, we moved inside when the DJ ended. Parking is free with validation, however mine did not get validated correctly by the bartender. I explained to the parking attendant and he let me go. All in all, it was a decent place to talk with a friend over a glass of wine. I think it would be a nice bar if I were staying in the hotel, but not special enough to make the trip. I do think the atmosphere might be much more lovely on a summer weekend, as sitting outside by the pool would be very nice.

Great beer selection and loved the cozy fire pits to warm up next to while mingling. This place was awesome on a Saturday evening when I went with friends. Great service and fun vibe

We were planning to go to the place next door for cocktails, but told they had a prefixed menu that day. Since we just had brunch we didn't want more food. As we were walking away we saw this spot and decided to give it a try since we only wanted drinks. Much friendlier staff with a chic and cozy atmosphere. Now for my soap box; apologies in advance. Lately I've noticed customer service is a lost art. The maître day at the other place didn't bother mentioning this place even though we told her we just wanted drinks. She instead acted like their brunch was too pricey when in fact where we came from was much more. Hence, this spot was a breath of fresh air given the bartender smiled and intellectually spoke to us as to how we like our cocktails.

Monkeybar at Town and Country is such a fun spot with a nice retro feel throughout the space. It's the resort's hotel lobby bar with mid-century decor that feels both nostalgic and fresh, and the making it easy to settle in and hang out for a while. The drinks are pretty creative too, especially during the Christmas season. The staff is friendly, which makes the experience even better. We recommend coming when they're playing live music or DJ sets on select nights, and enjoy the sunset into the night at one of their outdoor fire pits.

The pizza is amazing! And that's still an understatement, definitely recommend it! The Margherita pizza is delicious, my son enjoyed their pepperoni pizza. A must try!

RESORT BAR (3 stars) Monkey see... should Monkey do? - FOOD/DRINKS: ok - SERVICE: meh - PRICE: Resort prices - VIBES: people vacationing If you aren't staying in the area then expect to park in the parking garage and pay ~$5+ for ~1hr+. Open concept with live music, star gazing... and old drunk business men. Annoying old business men who are a bit off. This bar is tucked inside but outside of Town and Country Resort neighboring Arlo. Outdoor space was nice - first come first served, open seating for visitors. It's a bit loud with echoing conversation and music (I'd hate to live in the surrounding condos and apartments) :: SERVICE :: You have to wave them down. They aren't good at tracking people and tables. Kind of weird, even on less busy days. :: SIPPIES & BITES :: DRUNKEN MONKEY ($18) - Kettle One Orange Vodka, Orange Liquor, Coconut Run, Grenadine, Pineapple Juice, Lemon Juice, Edible Flower. Drink was nice and tropical! I was hoping to see something with banana flavor on the menu (hence it is the Monkey Bar) but saw several drinks with orange liquor, orange bitters, and in general the word "orange" kept standing out. Went with this drink because it was safe and looked like their signatures/main drink from their short cocktail list. Due to the lack of service I started to get hungry and ate my pineapple garnish. RECOMMEND SIDE OF FRIES (~$6) - wasn't there to eat but needed something to munch on while drinking. I liked the fries! They were seasoned, crispy, and perfect for something light. RECOMMEND Probs won't be back. Rather go to the other two restaurants what share the same outdoor space if I want to enjoy this space again. Monkey see... Monkey don't! Until the next review...

I initially ordered the something and picante (can't remember the full name) and found it to be way too sweet. Then switched to a basic Lalo with soda and lime to cleanse my palette. After tried their version of an espresso martini which was quite good but made with nitro brew and kahlua so a bit on the sweeter side. I'm really glad that I found Oculto because it has been one of the highlights of my San Diego trip. First of all, the concept of the seven deadly sins is really cool. The space is absolutely moody, intimate, and thoughtfully designed. It has an atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and enjoy your drink rather than rush through it. And since I don't really drink, I was definitely going slow. And I was alone, but the good part was I found myself just taking it all in instead of reaching for my phone. I started with an espresso martini-style cocktail that was smooth, balanced, and the perfect way to ease into the evening. For my second drink, I asked for the bartender's choice, and it ended up being one of my favorite cocktails I've had in a long time. It featured lychee, strawberry, and cardamom, and was garnished with a beautiful little rose. It was creative, elegant, and every flavor worked together perfectly. The cocktails were outstanding, but what really made the experience stand out was the service. Devin was an excellent bartender and an amazing conversationalist. He was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging, making me feel welcome from the moment I sat down. He took the time to craft a drink based on flavors I enjoy, and it was clear he cares about creating a great experience, not just serving drinks. If you're looking for a cocktail bar with incredible drinks, a gorgeous atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality, I can't recommend Oculto enough. Full disclosure, I'm a sucker for a themed speakeasy, and Oculto delivered with its Mexican gothic twist. Entering through a confessional booth, confessing your sins before once again giving over to temptation as you sample seven deadly sins-themed libations; oh yeah, this is the themed spectacle that I adore! For those wanting to visit, Oculto is small and reservations are a must. They also have a two drink minimum and the seatings are timed. Everything we ordered was fantastic and I adored the presentation. My only complaint, and the reason for the four stars, is that despite its small size, service was still on the slower side. I get that the bartenders are making complicated craft cocktails, but when you have a two drink minimum AND a time limit for your guests, maybe speed it up a little bit? We would have loved to order another round but sadly ran out of time on our reservation. But everything else about the bar was fantastic, and I will definitely be back for another night of debauchery in the future!

Parking is a nightmare good luck finding parking within a mile of the restaurant. Pros: atmosphere, drinks, service Cons: food wasn't great for the price, restaurant was small and crowded, no parking Service: All of our servers were friendly and very accommodating. Gave us some knowledge on the menu and recommended cocktails based on our preference. I had spilled my drink and they were quick to make me another one. Food: I had intended to get the prime ribeye cap steak but they ran out for the night around 8pm. I shared the steak sampler which came with four different cuts of steak and 4 sauces. I ordered medium and it was cooked medium/medium rare which was fine with me, it also had a good sear, almost burnt though. Out of the four steaks, we only liked two based off flavor and tenderness. The other two were more tough and gamey. None of the sauces really stood out but the bordelaise and horseradish were good. For our sides we got fries, roasted broccoli, and the grilled wedge salad. Fries were average. The roasted broccoli had really good flavor, I expected the broccoli to be al dente but it was cooked to mush and drenched in sauce. The grilled wedge salad was decent, there was a slightly bitter taste to it. I know it says grilled wedge but the experience of biting into the salad and it being both hot and cold was not pleasant. Cocktails: I tried the Honey Ryder and New Wave. These were recommended as the more fruity/sweet cocktails. You can definitely taste the alcohol but it's only 2oz so it's not too strong. Ambience: 10/10 I got seated downstairs by the bar. Only thing about downstairs is that it's too dark to take photos unless you use flash. Overall, I agree with the other reviews saying to go just for drinks and appetizers. I would go again just to sit upstairs and get drinks and take pictures. We left unsatisfied and ended up getting in-n-out after.

The space itself is huge with plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a great place for groups to gather, relax, and enjoy a few drinks without feeling cramped. Overall, this is a fun and unique spot with great food, excellent drinks, and outstanding service. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back.

The main food available is from Pizza Cassette, which has delicious sandwiches and wood-fired, Neapolitan-style pizza pies. Drinks are available from a brewery, a trendy and unique wine spot, and a meadery! Truly something for everyone. It's dog friendly and great for groups to still feel intimate with standing areas, barrel table tops and picnic style tables. There's usually always something happening like trivia night or live music, but heads up, they don't stay open too late - won't be an issue for most, but in case you're looking for a spot at 8pm, double check the hours, especially for food.

My friend is ready to redecorate his place with Moroccan lamps now. The only negative was our fault...we decided to go two days ago and the only reservation left was at 8:45. I think IO more beautiful at night, so we were looking forward to it nonetheless. We arrived around 8 and ordered a bottle of wine in the waiting area/courtyard ramp. Such an interesting layout, but it works! We got to sit at a table right next to the waterfall and pond. Our server was very nice. Probably the only slip-up in service, was that our main came out when we had barely put a dent in apps. We were probably chatting and sipping on wine too much? The expo realized, kept the mains, and said take your time. Then he brought out mains when we were ready. Everything on the menu sounded amazing. My friend and I decided to both get the steak on the hot stone. It comes out raw and you have to keep track of time to cook it how you like it. You can choose flavored salts and butters and sauces for the side. We also shared the pickled strawberry salad. It had lots of toppings, flavor, and textures. The pozole verde was also excellent.

We happened upon this place for happy hour, which is a great deal. The old fashioned was really good and they have a decent wine list, both at great prices. We also ordered some popcorn chicken, Brussels, and the chicken sandwich. The Brussels were absolutely out of this world, as was the sandwich! The popcorn chicken was also really good...but the Brussels sprouts are worth coming for alone. The service was great and there is plenty of bar seating. If you're in the North Park area make sure to stop by, especially at happy hour!

I came in for happy hour with some of my clients, those of which had been there for a few hours, we missed the HH but joined in. Their original server was extremely nice and attentive. The server who helped us, not only was extremely dismissive and rude, he lied and brought over the POS mini when closing us out, I had asked if the tip was already included given the group size. He said "no." So I added tip. After having the receipt texted to me. I noticed the auto grat for 20% (which is standard), but I then added an 18% tip on that, as I was told it wasn't included. Especially for how rude he was - I'm extremely unhappy with his dishonesty. Will absolutely never come back. Food was ok...drinks were great.
