I was so focused on getting donuts, I didn't realize they had other breakfast items. If I wasn't already late for work, I would have did a u-turn and ordered something else. My donuts were ok. My husband and I have our birthdays exactly 5 years and 6 weeks apart, which means every time he hits a milestone birthday I hit one 6 weeks later. So I decided to have a combined birthday party for us both, and to see if I could design a custom cake that would reflect "145 years" (70 + 75). I had absolutely no idea what kind of cake to order. She showed me some amazing creative pictures of other cakes she had made, and I ended up designing the top of the cake to more or less match the invitations I had sent out. She was so great about the flavors! When I told her about our favorite flavors, which included key lime and raspberry, she suggested a key lime cake with raspberry filling. WOW! It was a huge hit with everyone and there was only enough left over for us to take home for one more serving each. AND it was beautiful (if you don't mind a humorous cake)!
