Let me explain...I have had many massages in my life but this was by far one of the best experiences yet. From start to finish it was perfect. As I walked up the stairs to her space, I was welcomed by the scent of lavender and Monica's smiling face at the top of the stairs. She was so welcoming and put me right at ease. Her studio is an absolute dream! Soothing music with touches of water sounds, gentle lighting glowing against the sparkly, water color green walls and ceiling...as if I walked into a mermaids palace. It was clean and beautiful and relaxing. I was already transforming. She sat me down and offered me a cool glass of still water in a champagne glass. Then asked me some simple questions about my physical conditions, past massage experiences and how things were mentally and emotionally that week; explaining that she incorporates Reiki work that is healing on an energetic level. Monica was professional and thoughtful, giving me plenty of time to get on and off the massage table both before and after my massage. I never felt rushed. About that massage table, it should be noted that it is THE most comfortable table I have ever experienced...like a fluffy cloud. Her massage work was just as fantastic...a style all her own and not to be missed...fluid movements with purposeful intent. She found and addressed all my sore spots, paying close attention to troubled spots and melting the tension right away. This dream went on for 90 minutes. Never at any point was the pressure too rough or too light and yet my muscles were releasing and relaxing. Monica completed the massage with the ringing of chimes 3 times. It was the most pure, soothing sound ever. I think I need one of those! When the massage came to a close, I was encouraged to slowly transition from my experience before getting dressed. The view from her table was so soothing, I had a hard time wanting to go back to the real world. Book her for a massage and you will know what I mean. Finally, she sent me on my way with a can of sparkling soda for the road. I felt like a queen. And if all that hasn't sold you, her price point will. I originally met Monica through music, and discovered that her beautiful singing voice is also a boon to her massage therapy. She has a soothing sound and a quieting energy that automatically relaxes you before the massage even starts. She listens to your concerns before each session and addresses them thoroughly each time, even allowing you to recover and get dressed at your own speed. As a professionally trained dancer, I cannot fully express how amazing it is to be subjected to her work. Her stature and calming energy belie the incredible strength in her hands. She gets deep down into highly developed muscles to therapeutically improve their health and function. I find that regular visits to her improve not only my general health, but also my performance in rehearsal and on stage. I also have an old whiplash injury. Several times, it has flared up as a debilitating issue, and each time, she speeds my recovery without me having to take any kind of muscle relaxer. So yeah, my previous massage therapist (whom I loved) vanished off the face of the earth a few years ago. I was somewhat bummed, but one of the advantages of having a spouse that works in the spa industry is a bevy of friends and acquaintances that could sub in. And it became quickly obvious to me why Monica was recommended to me. Monica is the real deal. She's compassionate, kind, and listens as you give her your laundry list of concerns and aches. She works with you, and gives you the time to acclimate back from "massage land" to the real world. Those reviewers that say her calming presence comes through her work are dead on. I work in the healthcare industry, so I'm on my feet for nearly ten hours a day and often have back and shoulder issues. In addition, old injuries (I've busted my right arm three times) and the fact that I write often means that my hand is prone to becoming a carpal tunnel-afflicted, arthritic mess. Monica keeps those aches at bay and fixes the worst of them.
