This is a small shop with a limited amount of merchandise. They only had about ten or so tarot decks and most i didn't find beautiful or interesting at all. The crystals and beaded necklaces were nice to look at, and there must've been 6 or 7 varieties of sage smudge sticks. They were playing nice music and burning nice incense. Unfortunately by the time I left my tongue tasted like soap from the incense. And I have to say it was quite off-putting to have so many different modalities rattled off that they supposedly specialize in - (psychic readings , reiki and I don't remember what all else) - I felt sure it was all a scam and not to be trusted. Which left yet another bad taste in my mouth because sick and suffering people should not be taken advantage of like that. read more

I was surprised to hear that The Chakra Shoppe has been here in this location for nigh on 15 years. I've lived in the neighborhood for almost 13, and I swear I only saw it within the last five. I wonder what else I have missed in plain sight! They have a lot of tools for meditation, self-reflection, and focus. There are tarot cards which you can use in reflection; varying stones or crystals you can use to focus energy or that have particular properties said to be good for one thing or another. They also offer classes or workshops on a few topics, too. The man who was working was pleasant and helped me identify a stone or two that I was unsure about in the jewelry. 6 years ago, I had enrolled into Grad school and at the age of 24. I recalled speaking with my college advisor and I had experienced the strangest thing: The room around me seemed to feel heavy and it was spinning to my right but everything in the space was still. FYI, I was not under the influence in any way! I first stepped foot in the chakra shoppe in 2014. I had a fight with my then live in boyfriend and took a walk around the neighborhood and stumbled in. I had a reading with April Miller. She said many things that I thought were highly unlikely to come to fruition, sure enough every single thing happened and they were all negative. Let me explain, during that time I was an active alcoholic, drug addict and headed for a path of self destruction. After that first reading I went back to April. Very small shop offering different types of classes, readings, chakra healing, etc. In addition, they sell crystals, stones, meditation CDs, books, aromatherapy items (sprays, oils, candles, etc.), different type of smudging items, jewelry. For a smaller store, they have a nice little variety of stuff. The owner was nice, she introduced herself and offered to help, if we needed it. I was there with my son and we looked around a bit - we were the only two in there and we felt a little uncomfortable. Maybe if they had some music playing it would have felt a little better, the silence was making it feel weird in there. Normally I can spend hours - even in little shops. I just picked a few items and left quickly. Nothing heebie-jeebie - just an uncomfortable silence. If I ever run out of my current stash of sage and I can't get any anywhere else, I would come back here. But they really should consider playing some background music, or getting a water fountain or something - I'm all for a quiet setting, but sometimes, it feels creepy. read more

Very cool small store that focuses on chakra healing, but also offers reiki, tarot card reading, past-life readings, Yuen energy method healing, along with a variety of classes. Past classes have included Commanding Wealth, lessons from the Abraham books Ask and It Is Given, healing for the various chakras (could be 4th chakra, for instance), using the pendulum, tarot card reading, spiritual writers, and more. The space has a real nice energy. It is small, and kind of by itself on a wasteland of empty storefronts along North Lincoln Avenue. Along with the classes, they sell a variety of crystals and jewelry, cards, some books, chakra healing tools, a variety of stones, divination tools, some artwork, and more. Blanche Blacke is the owner of this space. She does amazing work with her chakra healing sessions. I've seen her a few times with this, and the things she has helped me with is really amazing. It's like peeling away the layers of an onion. I highly recommend a session with her. If you get on their mailing list, you will get a twice-monthly update on classes and events, along with a message from Blanche. They have Healing Spirit Fairs there a few times each year, in which you can sample various readings/healings for anywhere from 10 minutes to half an hour. It's a nice way to get acquainted with the services they offer. They're typically closed Sunday and Monday. During the Healing Spirit Fairs, they're open on Sunday, but that's apparently the only time. Highly, highly recommend you stop in, visit, talk to Blanche, and hear about it all. Chakra analysis and healing may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you are dealing with an issue, but believe me, it works a lot quicker, and is a lot cheaper, than therapy. You can usually find parking on a side street without paying Mayor Daley's parking extortion rates on Lincoln Avenue. Since so many long-time Chicagoans like me do just about anything to avoid paying for parking, there are always spaces available on Lincoln Avenue. read more

As my first experience with tarot or readings/healings I'm glad I chose Chakra Shoppe as my first place. Blanche is an extremely warm and intuitive individual and immediately made me feel comfortable and welcome. I went through a past-life regression with her and it was a truly incredible experience. I've never felt energy run through my body quite like that before. I'd love to go back and try a different sort of reading, not sure which but I would definitely go again. I haven't spent too much time at the Chakra Shoppe, but I do prefer stopping by this tiny Lincoln Ave shop as opposed to other energy focused stores in the area. The energy overall seems significantly lighter than other stores of this type, which makes it so welcoming and enjoyable with every visit. I also really enjoy the staff at this shop; they're very helpful and not condescending at all when you have a question about their products. They've been my go-to shop for crystals since I discovered them last year. The Chakra Shoppe is what it says it is - it's a shop with chakra focused products and services, and not too much else.
