This was a cute club! I didn't get to see all the floors as I came on a Thursday during a student DJ event, but felt like the space we were in was clean and intimate. The drinks were also unique, this made me want to start my clubbing era and was super fun to support my friend and enjoy music with our group!

Beautiful venue with over 4 DJ booths. Each room is uniquely decorated. A total 3 floors. = 5 The staff was extremely friendly =5 Drinks were delicious and good selection of beer=4 Now here is the 900 pound gorilla, it's located in the tenderloin where it's definitely not ideal if you walking to and away from the venue. I really hope things changes.

Went for NYE - to be honest, the crowd was not as lively as I expected and it was an older crowd. Cool eclectic decor inside and many rooms to dance in so it's not super crowded, which is nice. They had an aerial dancer and lots of DJs playing a variety of music. They did the countdown on the big screen though which was cool! And I loved the free photo booth. (Probably meant for max 2 people at once.) The area surrounding it is very sketchy (worst part of soma/mid market) so be careful when parking or getting dropped off in the area.

It's time to wake up from the Dreamforce hangover since Dreamforce ended just like another Summer in San Francisco. I attended an event to celebrate the Nonprofit Community called "The Engagement Party " at Monarch in SOMA. The proceeds of the event were to benefit the organization Amplify. The Monarch Night Club is located on the corner of 6th and Mission in San Francisco which has an interesting outdoor environment. It is Nextdoor to the tapas bar The Pawn Shop. The event had DJ's spinning upstairs and downstairs this venue. There was also a Circus Soleil type of performer spinning around the bar where I was drinking from. This was a 4X the open bar event since they had four different bars with open bars. The drink menu was curated and I had to start a few drinks called " Fundraiser up Old Fashioned" it contained Angel's Envy Bourbon, Simple Syrup, and some different types of bitters and it had a smooth taste and was kept on repeat. Then I had the "Blackthorn Blanco" Cazadores Blanco Tequila, Ghost Pepper Cardamon Syrup, Prickly Pear, Agave, Lime which was a good follow up drink . Then I tried the "Formassembly Fizz" which had Grey Goose Vodka, Thai Chai Tea, Ginger Beer, and Lemon. This drink was very sour like biting into sour lemon. As someone who had the drink earlier described it to me as similar to the Beetle Juice Cocktail " The Sand-worm Slayer" but on the sour side . It was too sour for me. One try was enough for me. The rest of the drinks throughout the night had some type of whiskey in it. The music went from pop to hip hop and to electronic music and mashups. The people in attendance were from all around the USA and Canada ( team Canada represented ). It was a good mix of people in the For-profit and Nonprofit world having fun in this part of the planet San Francisco. The party seems to end up on street corners of 6th and Mission as there was a different party going on already outside in the area at night. I look forward to another Dreamforce next year. At least there is SF Tech week to look forward in early October and an event a few doors down. Come inside and party in San Francisco after dark At a fly place on the corner of 6th and Mission called the Monarch

This is recommended as a must have. Tasty and refreshing drink. The ambiance was private and pleasant. Great customer service. Really enjoy ourselves.

I came here to hear one of my favorite artists and really enjoyed the ambiance of the place. Great decorations and the dance floor downstairs was small enough to feel intimate along with enough room for everyone. I loved how they had a hard kombucha with was tasty and sat in my stomach right. There was also another smaller dance floor when you walk in along with some couches. The place had a lot of plants and options if you didn't want to dance. There are chairs, a photo booth and the comfy couches offering people a chance to sit down comfortably and get to have conversations. Really loved the venue and music, I recommend if someone wants to check out a new spot.

The featured cocktails - beautiful design motif throughout this entire venue.

Anyone know if there's a cover?

Hi Nadia – the cover charge depends on the night, and whether or not we have an event happening. You can always check our website for details at monarchsf.com. Hope to see you soon!

    Dec 14 it doesn't say 21+, does this mean it's 18+ dec 14?

Hi there—our venue is 21+ at all times. Thanks!

Where can I eat near here?

Hi Samantha, we do serve food at the bar during happy hour – Taco Tuesday specialties on Tuesdays, and a specialty tapas menu on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We'd also recommend eating at The Pawn Shop next door!

    18 and up?

    No, 21+

    Is there a coat check?

    Yes, downstairs only.

How is it on a Sunday night?

    Roomy.

I was craving a refreshing craft cocktail and got one with the Green Emmanuelle. I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.

The club was set to close at 2am -- so they start getting everyone together and closing out tabs a 10 minutes or so before it actually closed. I finish my drink and gather my belongings to go to the restroom beforehand. It was occupied at the time ... so I decided not to worry anymore and walk back to my friends. As I'm doing so, I hear the guard rudely speaking to them and telling them to leave. I advised the man that the club was still open at the moment (they had about 5 mins left) and that we actually were heading out then. I also told him that he didn't have to speak to my friends like that - after he had just been joking around with them moments before. Instead of taking accountability, he immediately got an attitude with me and stated that he didn't care about that and it was time to go. Another female guard then popped up randomly and essentially told me to "fix my delivery" and that the man was her brother. To which I replied, that they were both ultimately in the wrong. I understand wanting to leave work but being rude and distasteful towards paying customers isn't the way to do jt. I hope they hire better employees it was a nice place!

There were only two service staff; we could tell they were working hard but they definitely needed more help. We made two trips to the bar and it took about 15-20 minutes to get service. Drinks were decent. A larger group arrived to the left of us, and about 20 minutes after they arrived, the male service worker told us we had to move cause our spot was reserved. Mind you, we'd been there for almost two hours at this point and nobody had mentioned anything about our spot being reserved, and there was no sign holder indicating it either. It was also advertised as a "no cover" event, so curious to know how reservations were even made. He told us we could move over to the wall; which we discovered was right next to the restrooms and the line of users. Not cool. We then noticed that the larger group had spread out and taken our spot; were we supposed to believe these were the supposed "reservation" holders and not just your friends? Overall, just another mediocre bar that caters to the people they know. Not much concern for new customers, so we have no interest in returning or recommending to anyone. Plenty of other bars in the city; better bars that won't make you feel inferior.
