Totally found out about this place by accident. I was waiting for my daughter while she was attending a breakfast at the Elks Lodge. I was starving and drove to Starbucks. Didn't see anything I felt like eating, so I drove back to the Elks Lodge and I noticed this little donut place. There were only a few people, so I knew I could get my eats really quick. While waiting for my turn, I looked at my options and determined how much I wanted to spend and how much calories I wanted to consume. One of my fave donuts is a glazed, and the price was right so that's what I bought. It was as good as I expected it to be. Very fresh. Tasted so good!! I noticed the apple fritter. My brother would probably like this place. This place is supposedly known for it's apple fritters. I'll have to mention it to him. Customer service: good. Parking: free street parking Definitely would come back if I happen to be near the Elks Lodge! read more

THE BEST apple fritters I've ever had. It's not overly sweet or deep fried. The owner, Jonathan is the absolute sweetest. He greets every customer with a big smile. He's always open ears and loves to sharing his stories and words of wisdom. His apple fritters are not displayed in the front, but if you ask him for them he'll bring one out from the back. The apple fritters sell out FAST so it's best to come early or text him ahead of him so he reserves some for you. When you pick up the apple fritters he'll tell you a beautiful story of the apple fritter and his inspiration. It's a very beautiful story and makes you appreciate the apple fritter more as you're eating it. read more

The most amazing owner who loves his customers and product. He greeted my children with "Good morning sunshines!" He told us the reason why he does what he does, and gives all glory to God. If entrepreneurs took his attitude and business model, the world would change and evil wouldn't stand a chance. Donuts are amazing, and very high quality - but I left inspired apart from the quality product. read more

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. Each donut I've tried has been delicious and the owner is really friendly. Come early once they sell out they sell out. Usually I just send Jonathan a text the night before to order what I want and he'll have it ready for an easy pickup. If you want hot items like the Apple Fritters I would highly recommend you do so too. They usually sold out by 10 am. Apple Fritters: 5/5 Amazing and the most delicious apple fritters I've ever had. They taste so good fresh. A bit of a crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. Blueberry: 5/5 Blueberry donuts are probably my favorite and he uses real blueberries in these donuts. DELICIOUS. Can't go wrong. Strawberry Shortcake (seasonal) 5/5: LOVE LOVE LOVE. Innovative and combines two of my favoritest things in the world strawberry shortcake and donuts. Apparently the owner changed and the donuts are much different than they were a few years ago. For me the donuts are just okay now.. previously they were good enough that I'd drive from downtown LA to get them. They used to be fried to a golden crisp, with both the glaze and the chocolate having a very distinct flavor and texture. However, now they just seem like your average donut store, though the owner is very nice. Not really worth the drive anymore unfortunately. read more

I read the reviews and decided to go..... Turned out... The owner, Jonathan is super fabulous just like the way you guys mentioned here. The donuts ran out so fast the lady in front of me wanted to get them all (which is understanding coz it is good!) but he refused.. so I can get some too.. hahaha Will definitely come again soon!! read more

This review is long over due! This absolutely the best donut place around!! The famous Apple fritters sell out daily for a very good reason! He even sells out before his closing hours they are so delicious! Jonathan is the most wonderful man we have had the pleasure of knowing, he takes his time with each customer. Afraid to miss out? Everyone in Arcadia knows this has the best donuts. Soft, chewy, and the fritters are perfect. Their new strawberry shortcake donuts are also really, really good. I've probably ordered from them 5+ times already in 2021. Only downside is that they sell out quickly, by 9 or 10 AM each day. So your best bet is to call or text in your order the day before to ensure there will donuts in the morning. read more

My daughter and I stopped this morning for donuts before her 4yr old shots. We pulled up before 8:30am and they were already sold out the owner saw us and came out to the car with 2 delicious Apple fritters, a ham Croissant and coffee! He refused to take my money, grabbed her an orange juice and told us our smiles made his happy Not only have we always loved the donuts here, but now we will tell everyone how kind and thoughtful the owner is too!! read more

Got there early around 5am. He(Owner)ask me what am I doing here so early. Well because you sell out at 7am!!! Anyways, I tried out the cinnamon crumb donuts. It was fresh, soft, and warm. Not overly too sweet. One of the best donuts I had in awhile. The owner(Johnathan) was nice and sincere. Chit chatted for a bit. Very nice gentleman. So If you're in the area early morning. To get the mythical apple fritter, you must rise with the sun and wait like the animals awaiting Symba in the Lion King for the golden deliciousness to be raised in triumph from pride rock. Is it worth all that hype? Yes. And I'm not even certain it's the best apple fritter in a five mile radius - Rose Donuts is a sleeper - Monarch is worth the hype. Try any donut he makes and you experience craft in each one. Hand any donut of his to someone unknowingly and they'll stop in their tracks with questions. Best donut in LA? Don't know, don't care. Definitely one of the best ways to reward the early bird. read more

This is a very special and rare kind of business. The owner and proprietor Jonathan has a real passion in what he does and is skillful in the implementation. He is what I would consider an artisan, and above all the donuts that he is creating are delicious. In addition to this he was a warm and personable disposition that makes it feel like visiting a friend whenever at the shop. When I gave my name again the second time that I was there he was genuinely surprised at the idea that I thought he wouldn't remember me. The way he chats with all his customers this is not unique but an indication of the person that he is. It's hard for me to pick a favorite donut here, I enjoy them all. Most surprising to me is the jelly donut. I've never enjoyed jelly donuts anywhere but they are an absolute favorite of mine at Monarch. Pictured I've included a new creation, The Strawberry Shortbread Donut. It's even better than it looks, top marks. Until he stops making donuts, this is the only place I'll be buying them. read more

The reviews that mention the owner are great, and I believe them. Personally, I just had the donuts when my partner brought them home. They were okay - plenty solid enough to satisfy a donut craving - but not necessarily something I'd seek out again. Some donuts were a little on the oily side, and the apple fritter was hefty but a little too sweet to me. But I really do get that the people are what sometimes make the experience! Maybe I'll drop by someday to say hello. read more

Jonathan - One of the sweetest humans I've met. Stopped by super early around 5:15 just to make sure I secured the Apple Fritter! Lol I was greeted by Sunshine (Jonathan). He recommended I try the Cinnamon crumb donuts, which is also one of his top sellers, so I got one to try and OMG that's probably my fave! If you're a fan of Cinnamon rolls I assure you, you'd love this too! The donut was soft, warm, and not too sweet. PERFECTION. I got my boyfriend the Apple Fritter and he loved it, and ended up eating 2. It's actually really big, and I ended up eating half and saved the rest for later. These donuts are made with labor of love and Jonathan is so sweet. I highly recommend Monarch! Enjoy! read more

Delicious donuts from a genuinely kind human. 2 hours before catching a flight back to Nyc Yelp guided us here. All of them were pillowy and light, but the crumb was definitely the most dope. Monarch Donuts has a new creation and it is a slice of heaven. You can taste the care and work that went into this made from scratch maple cinnamon french toast. The cinnamon french toast is soft and gooey in the middle and light and flaky on the outside. The maple topping is a stroke of genius making this my new favorite sweet treat! They weren't lying when this were the BEST Apple Fritters! I wish I took a picture but I ate it so quick I forgot. It melts in your mouth, it's crunchy from the dough but soft from the apples. Can't even explain it, go try it for yourself! I can't believe I only ordered 1. The donut holes were also amazing! They were soft and would just melt in your mouth. You must stop in for yourself and try, the owner Jonathan was so also very friendly and you will not be disappointed in your interaction with him. read more

I have been wanting to come here since I've moved to Arcadia in October 2020. I managed to catch Monarch open on my daily walk. I got to meet the lovely owner Jonathan. He told me the story behind his Donut shop. I was thoroughly impressed by his story, his love for his mother and deceased grandmother. He adores and appreciates all mothers. As a mother myself, you don't meet such empathetic people that understand our plight. He gave me a free coffee which I appreciated. The donuts that Jonathan creates are made with love and care. I tried a variety of his creations and every single one tasted like sweet little pillows of heaven. I will be back to try his coveted Apple Fritter. I wish I came here sooner. read more

Let's go with the CON first, because by going with the CON, this review will end on a high note! The owner of this establishment is very friendly. But at times friendliness doesn't lead to the best customer experience. Confused? His friendly nature can lead him to chat up a storm with a customer and hampers how quickly you get your hands on some delicious donuts. If you see more than 2 people waiting in line, and you are in a hurry... Might want to consider going to a different location. HOWEVER, if time is no concern, and you want to get to know your local small business AND get your hands on some delicious donuts. Come on over! He makes delicious donuts and is very friendly. Apple fritter is his calling card but all the donuts are pretty good. read more

A friend of mine told me that these donuts were the BEST and Jonathan was a GEM, so we made a date to visit Jonathan and his famous shop. We arrived at 8:30 a.m. to find the entire case was empty and everything sold out. Luckily, Jonathan was there and had saved us some donuts knowing we would be visiting him that morning. The donuts were individually wrapped in white paper bags and then neatly packaged in white paper boxes. There is no menu posted, nor are there posted prices that I could see. We pre-ordered 15 fancy donuts (apple fritters, bear claws, and old fashioned) which came out to $53. Jonathan let us know that he does not typically make bear claws, but did because we had requested them. The shop is cash only, and according to Jonathan, they often sell out before 7:30 a.m. There is parking on the street in front of the shop, as well as a small parking lot behind the shop. Take note! Even though his hours are 5am-9am, he may be sold out if you show up after 7:30 a.m. Jonathan's philosophy is quality over quantity, and he's got regular customers, so you should definitely get there early to try some. Also note, probably because this is a cash-only establishment and it's across from a public park, we noticed a small group of transient men hanging out by the shop. They seemed to be regular visitors there. Jonathan kindly walked us to my car with my donut boxes and ensured I felt safe. read more

Not a good donut. I bought 4, one each for me and my kids. They were all doughy; under cooked with shiny, raw dough in the middle; and very greasy. The dough was heavy and tasted like the dough they use for those Pillsbury biscuits you buy in the cardboard tubes at the store. I'm not really picky and I've never met a donut I wouldn't eat...that is, until today. We all took one bite and ended up throwing them in the trash. Unfortunately we took them home to eat. If we had been there, I would've taken them back and requested my money back. Also, dude was really rude and dismissive to a guy I bought a donut for that was clearly down on his luck. The guy asked for a spoon and dude threw a pack of Splenda on the counter in front of him without saying a word. The guy asked again, politely, for a spoon and dude didn't even look at him...he just tossed a plastic spoon an the counter. I thought that was kinda weird, but whatever...to each his own. However, when I paid, the employee really laid it on thick with the religious "God bless you" and "Have a blessed day". I couldn't help but think, Bro! What's with the double standard...I mean, if you think about it, Jesus was a homeless dude! I don't know, that just didn't sit well with me. His attitude went down about as well as his donuts! Sorry, but I would not recommend spending $7 for four garbage donuts at this place. read more

The best friendly neighborhood donut shop We tried many donuts at this place before we wrote this review. The apple fritter It was noted as one of the best apple fritter in LA by the LA times. This is not the stereotypical apple fritter. The outside is crisp golden brown and the inside reminds you of a warm apple bread. We haven't been able to make it on time during the weekend, but we hear it is made to order. The glazed donut Sometimes for me this is too airy or too dense. The glazed donut here has the right amount of softness and chew. If you like the strawberry pocky or yan yan, try the strawberry glazed donut. We also tried the old fashion and cake donut with sprinkles. Both are good but pretty standard. All in all, all the donuts here are great. There are no fancy glaze or toppings but they are made well and with care & love. read more

They are generous with the pistachio bits that they coat on top of the pistachio foam. I devoured this drink it less then 2 minutes and almost went back for a 2nd cup. 2. Tea-cube Special (5/5) This is a simple, yet, satisfying cup of traditional milk tea. It's made from a black tea base + milk + tea-cube topping. The tea-cube is made from fresh tea then made into a jelly cubes. Super creative, yet delicious. It pairs well with almost any milk tea based drinks. 3. Mango Pomelo Sago (4/5) If you like mangos and like fruity drinks, then this is a good choice. It comes with sago toppings, which pairs well with the drink. When it's fresh and icy, it's super refreshing. However, if you wait too long and it melts, the drink can get a bit too sweet. 4. Osmanthus Rice Milk Tea (4.5/5) This drink is a Jasmine tea base with osmanthus rice paste, milk and crystal boba. You certainly can taste the osmanthus flavor. The interior has a modern and classy feel. There's a tree with everyone's wishes and hopes. The store itself is super clean. The menu was extensive and had so many options. The ordering kiosk displayed all the choices aesthetically and had appropriate descriptions. I liked how you could choose what kind of tea you'd get for some drinks (jasmine or black tea!) The tea cube special sounded unique so I gave it a try. It had a strong tea taste. The tea cubes were squishy and had a firm jelly texture. This drink would definitely fall more towards the chocolatey side. I felt that it was still sweet at 25% sugar, but I'd still get it again! I haven't stopped thinking about the drink since I had it yesterday. Definitely will need to stop by again soon to fix my craving for it.

It almost feels like you've stepped into this little Japanese village rather than just another restaurant. Whoever designed this place understood the assignment. I went during the week, so thankfully it wasn't very crowded, and my friend and I were able to sit upstairs in one of the honeycomb booths. If one is available, DO IT. It made the whole experience that much more fun, and you get such a cool view of the restaurant from up there. Now, FOOD. I ordered the Pork Tonkatsu Omurice with curry sauce, which comes with chicken fried rice wrapped in that beautiful fluffy omelet, topped with pork tonkatsu and curry. When they bring it out, they actually ask if you'd like to record the presentation before they cut/open the egg--which, obviously, YES. It's one of those little touches that turns ordering food into an actual experience. And it was BOMB. The egg was fluffy, the pork tonkatsu had that crispy texture, and everything worked really well with the fried rice and curry. The curry itself isn't particularly spicy, so if you're someone who doesn't tolerate much heat, don't let the word curry scare you. It had plenty of flavor without being hot. Personally, I like my food SPICY spicy, so I added some extra spice to mine, but that's completely personal preference. The Yakitori Platter was a great choice because it let us sample a variety of grilled proteins, and even the grilled zucchini was incredibly delicious. Most people sit outside on the chairs or bring it back to the car. I love that they provide free stickers, know your rights cards, and sell merch and Lactaid. I have yet to come to 626 ice cream during a community event like their Mahjong nights, but I know they collaborate with local orgs! Note that their prices are a little higher than regular soft serve spots, but I'm happy to support them as they pour back into their community. They definitely are worth the price with all the love that they put into their ice cream and their community.

Still quite a lot, in my opinion. But donuts now and days cost quite a lot anywhere. Parking is not great. The parking lot services a lot of shops in the small strip mall. Be prepared, cash only. I would go again to get donuts, but I would not go out of my way.

The pot pie comes with the pastry top uncooked so you'll have to follow the instructions to cook in the oven. The taste and texture of the pot pie was really good. Lots of big pieces of chicken and veggies. It also wasn't overly salty at all. My bag also included a spinach tomato pastry that was really tasty as well. I heated it up in the toaster oven and it was flakey and buttery.
