1/2 of the Cinnamon Roll Pancake Combo: 2 eggs over easy & sausage patty.
Lauren P.

According to their website, Mom's is the oldest diner in Vista. I love old things, so we stopped by on a late Friday morning around 11:15. You can tell that the building has been around for a while. It's giving cute, 'greasy spoon' diner vibes. The coffee is diner coffee, light and drinkable. We decided to share the Cinnamon Roll Pancake Combo (gluten free) which came with a short stack of cinnamon roll pancakes, 2 eggs, and sausage or bacon, and the Florentine Omelette (add onions and peppers - $1.50 each). While the presentation of the pancakes didn't match the photos on their website (maybe the cream cheese icing melted?), the flavors were cinnamon-y and sweet once we added syrup. The omelette was filling, and the hollandaise sauce was flavorful. The hash browns could have used more seasoning and a few more minutes on the grill to brown them up. My true rating would be 3.5/5. While the food was satisfying, the prices weren't reflective of the quality. The menu available on the restaurant's website needs to be updated, as the prices shown online are outdated and lower than the in-restaurant menu prices. I do appreciate that they offer gluten free batter for their pancakes and waffles, and would return for these.

The Frenchie

Upon arrival, we were not greeted. She didn't tell us anything so we assumed we had to seat ourselves. We had to wait 20+ minutes for our menus. The waitress just seemed really out of it. It was really awkward. We had to remind her twice for our coffees, and it took her a while to take down our orders. There was another couple who left before ordering their food, I'm sure it was because of the same reason. It was fairly empty when we walked in, like I had mentioned earlier, there was only one couple seated before us. Gave me mom and pop shop vibes. But here's the kicker: do not let that stop you from ordering the food here. If you can withstand mediocre customer service, the food here is phenomenal. My husband encouraged me to stay even though I wanted to leave and I'm glad we stayed for the food. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs and it was absolutely delicious. It was nice and crispy even though it was smothered in sausage gravy. The home fries were tasty too. It was crispy and tasted perfect! My husband got The Frenchie, and he liked it a lot. He said shout out to the hard working Latinos in the kitchen. And my son got the Cinnamon roll pancakes. Overall, this place would have been a 3/5 if the waitress would have been more attentive, or at least communicated with us.

Vista Village Omelet, biscuits and gravy

Amazing food very friendly crew very wholesome. It's a great place to sit and enjoy a meal. The people working are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend

Mimosa flight

We stopped by on a busy Saturday morning, and even though the place was packed, the service was warm and welcoming. An older woman (I'm really hoping she was "Mom" herself!) greeted us with the kindest smile and made the whole experience feel like breakfast at home. We sat at the bar, and our food and drinks came out fast. I ordered the mimosa flight, and wow -- each one had the perfect ratio of crisp champagne to fresh, flavorful juice. The cinnamon roll pancakes were absolutely to die for -- fluffy, sweet, and perfectly glazed. Everything from the vibe to the food just hit right. I'd 100% come back again -- such a gem of a spot in Vista!

We love Mom's Kitchen! They have the best gluten free griddle I've ever tasted. We love this place and have never had any food we don't like. We love the Lox, biscuits & gravy, the cinnamon roll French toast is out of this world and the sandwiches are all great as well. Outdoor seating complements the indoor dinner with counter service. The only downside is that it's popular and small so you'll usually encounter a wait on the weekends but the location is a nice place to walk around for 15 min while you wait your turn.

Chicken Fried Steak

Cute small hole in the wall, but the food was a solid 3/5. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't terrible. My veggie omelette was kind of bland so I needed to pour cholula all over it. Hashbrowns were very mediocre, wasn't crispy at all. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and it was very average.

Definitely your traditional old skool diner. Food is ok, service is ok, ambiance is cool being in the heart of the village. Overall has the look & feel of a diner which feels cozy & nostalgic. I got steak & eggs. The steak was supposed to be medium but was cooked medium-well/well. It was tough and chewy. It seemed as if there were only 3 people working and we were sat immediately on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. That should've been the sign that it wasn't maybe the best spot. Our server was sweet but because she was the only server and food runner service is more on the slow side.

Ordered from doordash, not only had cold french toast but there was a hair in it! To make matters worse the sausage was completely raw inside and when ordering a biscuit even though they have the picture with gravy, its just a plain tasteless buscuit with butter. Dont bother eating here!

Stopped in on a Saturday morning for breakfast what a cute place. The minute we walked in we were greeted with smiles, and a welcoming spirit sat down at the counter and immediately received great service ordered a mimosa flight, which was yummy and was excited to find out that they had gluten-free pancakes and waffles, which allowed me to order their special gluten-free Cinnamon roll, pancakes and boy were they good! Can't wait to return if you're ever in Vista this is a must visit. Stop for breakfast or lunch.

The chilaquiles and pancakes are the best in town. Seating is limited but worth the wait.

Do they serve alcohop?

No, I don't believe that they did. It's a breakfast/brunch place. The coffee was delicious!

I absolutely didn't like it. - the worst was the Greek salad. cheap mixed green (including cores/root), literally 1 tablespoon of feta cheese sprinkled over it, 4 cherry tomatoes, maybe 8 olives cut in half, a slice of bread and that's it, for $17. They should be ashamed to serve this. This is inadmissible for the price. Not recommended.

He offered great suggestions, answered questions and made sure we had everything we needed to have an exceptional dining experience. He checked on us frequently in such warm and friendly way - he really made our day. The Brunch Point venue is open and airy (great breeze blowing through), clean and contemporary. The outside patio is comfortable and perfect mix of shade and sun. Excellent food choices with really creative (and delicious) options - sweet savory or spicy. Fresh ingredients prepared with the perfect touches make for delicious dining! Our food came quickly and was perfect and beautiful too. Nice cocktail choices and non-alcohol cocktails too. See pics of my BP waffle below it was a complete work of art! Delicious too! The help yourself coffee bar is a brilliant idea. Never wait for coffee! There were about 8 coffee choices, both caf and decaf. Hubby said coffee was very good, unfortunately the containers ran dry too quickly and I never tried any. Next time! Right now their hours are 8 am -3pm. Yummy breakfast/brunch all day - and super reasonable specials too - look for chalkboard with specials. They are hoping to make dinner again in the near future. You have to try this place! So good! We will be returning again (and again) very soon.

There is a religious or communal aspect behind The Yellow Deli, and I do not claim to know or understand all of it, nor do I need to. What I do love and admire is the home grown, homemade, back to nature feel of their community and how much of that care and love clearly shows up in the food, the space, and the overall experience. This is not a loud or rushed deli. It is a place to sit, linger, and enjoy. The patio is charming, the yellow building is iconic, and the service is warm and kind.
