Long-time customer of Mom's Kitchen, formerly Allen's Alley. Visited this month on a weekday morning - first time since 2020 COVID. We were the only customers in the restaurant. The usual weekday morning breakfast was not advertised. I ordered bacon, eggs, and hash browns. Was absolutely shocked when I received my order. The hash browns were larger versions of McDonalds hash browns! Not homemade, just a square, deep fried slab of potatoes. Over medium eggs were over well done. What has happened to this restaurant? We were visiting the area from Atlanta and wanted a Homestyle southern breakfast - not all of this vegetarians and vegan stuff that is so popular out here. Anyway, we found Mom's Kitchen via Yelp and I'm glad we did! My husband and I, along with our 4 year old had a huge breakfast that we couldn't even finish all of for $20! The eggs and bacon are cooked to order, the potatoes are "homefries" style cooked in a skillet with onion, and the pancakes... I can't say enough good things about the pancakes! I saw a photo of the cinnamon roll pancakes and that's what made me want to come here but it was a seasonal offering so I went with just the straight up OG buttermilk pancakes and I was not disappointed! Wife and I were out looking for a breakfast joint nearby our house that we haven't been to yet. Saw this place and it looked halfway solid and who can resist "best biscuits and gravy in town"? No doubt the portions were generous but the sausage gravy was very lacking in flavor, super bland. We also had a chorizo omelette and I couldn't even taste it in the omelette until the waitress explained it's somehow mixed into the egg batter. So far I see 4 waitresses. I came to the front door as it is a small quaint restaurant. I waited for staff to seat me, all busy but one waitress seated in back prepping whatever. There was a spot at counter, yeah for me as I took the seat. Now restaurant still open for 1 more hour and I would think during these times they would jump on a customer, sadly this was not my experience. I sat for a few minutes while one waitress finally came by but only to collect other patrons bills. Funny she never acknowledge me at all as I sat without a menu. Mind you she was not the only one cleaning and cleaning the counter. Finally one of the gals offered me a menu and something to drink. As they were closing checks and staff checking out of their shifts one of the other waitress came to take my order. Meanwhile, I thought it was just me, as a young man came in to sit at counter and waited almost as long as I to be served. They saw him but clearly they were not in any rush to serve. My meal was great for the buy, pork chops and eggs with fried potatoes!! Only problem was one chop not cooked all the way closest to bone. Bummer. I may try again as it was recommended to me and I had not visited this place in many years!! read more

Went for lunch today. Service was SLOW and unaware and unapologetic. Waited 30 minutes for half a BLT and soup. The "regulars" who arrived after us received their food 15 minutes before us. My family went here last Sunday because it had great reviews. Unfortunately we had nothing but an unpleasant experience. We waited over 40 mints to get a table, once we got a table outside the patio. We asked if we could have it clean and the waiter said it's clean the other people left and did not order ( but they still sat there for 30 mins) not sure why she did not want to clean it. The placed smelled like rotten eggs and they took over 15 mins for the waiter to come and take our order. They gave us another tables order, took them 45 mins to bring our order and that's after we asked for and update on it, I truly believe they forgot it. This is my favorite kind of restaurant, the small hole in the wall joint. You never know if they will be a bust, but this place was AMAZING. It's a very small restaurant with limited seating, we came at 12:30 and it was pretty much packed. We got seated in the last two seats and greeted by a very friendly waitress, who immediately took our order. They have a great selection, including different side and size options. My husband got one of the scrambles with hash browns and said it was delicious, I got the "Meaty Scramble" made with two eggs and it was awesome, full of bacon, sausage and ham! We were surprised to see the name change on our visit back to an old haunt. We moved in November. Food and service are still excellent but the quaintness of the place is gone.
