This place is so cute and I was excited to eat here.They definitely take care of their local regulars. I waited 45 minutes for poorly cooked eggs. I watched two to-go orders be made before my food. Mom's Kitchen was absolutely wonderful. This place was recommended to us by Rik the Innkeeper at the Itty Bitty Inn across the street. This place has the best breakfast spreads. The portions were so large, I had to take the other half back to the hotel with me (and it was worth because I ate the leftovers the following morning). The atmosphere is quite homely and has a genuine mom and pop feel to it. Would absolutely recommend to anyone staying in the Coos Bay area! read more

Wow! What an awesome find! Me and my family are doing a move drive from seattle to San Diego. We found MOM'S KITCHEN here and decided to give it a try, since prices were attractive and reviews were favorable. We went into the restaurant, and it truly looks like somebody's kitchen. We were immediately greeted and show us to our table. Right away, our server, and extremely nice and attentive gentleman, brought three different children activity books along with a great assortment of color pencils, which was great to prevent the kids from fighting over the supplies. We ordered, and the food was prompt to come! The cinnamon roll, freshly baked and still hot, covered with a home made cream cheese sauce, was delicious!!!! Fluffy, full of flavor, just delightful! I ordered the corned beef hash, hashbrowns and overeasy eggs... OUTSTANDING! The hashbrowns were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, buttery and tender in the inside.; my kids ordered blueberry and strawberry pancakes... HUGE!!!!!! They were also fluffy and full of flavor. We had to get half of them to go because they portions were very generous. I am not sure if we'll come up their way again, but if we do, we will make sure we stop at MOM's again! Oh, and did mention the coffee????? So GOOOOD! read more

Nice people but not a great breakfast experience. Building is a diner style with mostly counter seats and no view. The German sausage breakfast wasn't much more than a glorified hotdog with eggs, toast and hash browns. Wife asked for a fried egg sandwich and was told it would come with potato chips. Asked for sliced tomatoes instead so they said it would cost a little more, which we said was fine. Sandwich had only eggs, nonlettuce or tomato, so it was really just toast and eggs, with two small tomato slices for which we were upcharged. Come on boss, really? Two minutes later I showed up and there was one table and two seats at the bar available. The man at the counter refused to give me the table telling me, "I hate to give it up." The barstools had no backs and I told him I was going someplace else. He told me goodbye. No one else was waiting yet he didn't "want to give it up." My last meal here was about 2 1/2 years ago. I ordered up a burger for my early noon meal. Less than 3 hours later I was on the throne and splurting it out the back end. I have not eaten there since. Before then, I would go there on occasion and enjoy their hashbrowns and gravy, which were made homestyle and served up in a huge portion. Add in some toast and I would also enjoy a butterhorn heated up with lots of margarine for a sweet treat. If it's breakfast foods, you'll be okay here but the Pancake Mill is much better in that department. Had I not been so thoroughly sickened I would have regularly patronized the place. Two stars instead of one thanks to the memories of past good food. I only let a place poison me once. If you're up for it, roll the dice...LOL! read more

I don't eat here very often, and I'm not sure why. The food is great, and the atmosphere is interesting. Most people that walk in the door are known by name and the staff is super friendly. I don't think it would be good for parties of more than six, as there's only a few tables and a diner type bar to sit at. read more

The food matches the vibe: nothing trendy or fancy, just perfectly-cooked American breakfast and lunch staples. Omelets are especially good. Great coffee, too. (Sorry, no decaf soy pumpkin-spice lattes, though.) The only drawback is that they have no off-street parking; RVs or trucks - forget it.
