What a great diner! We were visiting family in nearby Charleston, and they highly recommended this place for breakfast. It's pretty small and parking is tricky; no parking lot, only street parking available. We walked in and were immediately greeted. You seat yourself and menus are already on the table. Our server came over quickly and took our drink order. We ended up ordering biscuits and gravy, diced ham and scrambled eggs, and French toast. Everything was delicious! The portions are generous and prices reasonable. The ambiance inside is authentic diner. The old bar stools lined the counters surrounding the kitchen. There are tables and chairs situated along the window walls of the restaurant. The bathroom is super tiny, but this is an old building, so we expected some quirks. Staff is super friendly, helpful and attentive. We didn't see Mom as we learned she recently retired and the current chef purchased the diner. We had such a great experience we'll definitely be back! Been wanting to stop here for the last 15 years when we're in the area. Finally did and was not disappointed. Best omelet I've ever had. Hash browns were perfect. Small pin like shards. My wife had the chicken fried steak and instead if hash browns a pancake. WOW it was the size of a hubcap. Don't believe me, order one and I defy you to eat it all. Best of all was the service. Absolutely wonderful. The place is quaint and you might have to wait a bit because there are only a few tables and a counter. BUT it's worth the wait. We definitely will be back. Breakfast the way mom used to make it! Big portions and simple ingredients, go for the O'Brians hash browns since they have the onions and green peppers you know you want. Waffles are light yet crispy, the service by Amber quick and spot on (I couldn't keep up with her coffee refills.) Careful, the hot chocolate comes with a pile of whipped cream and sprinkles. Country Breakfast [North Bend OR] Very tiny diner in North Bend that seems to be popular among the locals. The building is so small that you might miss it if you blink. It is located on the corner of Sherman and Florida Avenues. There are 2- and up to 4-seater tables as well as counter top seating. It was a full house when we walked inside and the only available seating was at the counter top until the table behind us opened up then we moved to it. From where we were seated we could see/watch the cook prepare the meals. They offer breakfast classics and lunch favorites like burgers and sandwiches. I ordered a Country Fried Steak. It came with two eggs, hashbrowns (or pancake) and toast. Very plentiful but too generous on the gravy and it almost overwhelmed the entire meal. I like my hashbrowns a bit crunchy but with all the gravy it wasn't too enjoyable. On the other hand, my hubby loved his breakfast with two eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. The servers (two ladies) were nice and helpful. My hubby's coffee cup was constantly refilled and they keep checking on our food to see if it was ready to be served. A couple weeks ago this restaurant was about to close, But decided to stay open for my friend and I. Food was excellent my friend loves mashed potatoes with gravy. Old school diner, with service and prices to match! I was passing through on a weekend road trip in Western OR and stopped here for breakfast. It's a small place (probably about eight 2-top tables and 8 more seats at the counter) and was packed almost the whole time I was there. One diligent server took care of all of us, with 2 others in the kitchen. It was good, quick service. I got the hashbrowns o'brien... which are shredded hashbrown potatoes with diced peppers and onions, fried up on the griddle and topped with cheese (I got cheddar). It was the perfect combination of gooey in the middle and crispy on the outside and edges. And did I mention it's huge?! I am a big eater, especially when hiking and exploring on a road trip, but even I left about a third of it behind. We were driving up the Oregon coast and found Mom's Kitchen for breakfast. You need to park on the steep side street where there is ample parking. Inside the customers are local and the staff is friendly and helpful. The menu has many great selections and the food is wonderful but you better be hungry because the portions are enormous. Cute little small mom and pop shop that we passed by and turned back to check it out. It was around 9:30am and the restaurant was busy, luckily they had room for 5 of us at the counter top. The portion of the food was huge and the price was super fair. The flavor for the French Toast was delicious! It's been a while since I had French Toast that's not all covered in powder sugar and syrup. It was perfectly cooked and had a good amount of butter! The best breakfast spot in Coos Bay/North Bend. The quality of the food and staff are outstanding. While the restaurant itself is small, the staff does a great job at turning over tables rather quickly. We try to visit Mom's every time we are in the area and don't mind sitting at the counter. A blast from the past. This authentic old style diner has been a North Bend fixtures for years. It's located right on Hwy 101, and has very limited parking. Luckily the big pink building nextdoor is vacant, so we just parked over there. There's a counter for seating, about a dozen tables for 2, and a couple of tables for 4. Not a place to bring your family reunion. I had the stuffed O'Brian hash browns which were large and tasty. I wish the hash browns were a bit more crispy all the way through, but they were pretty thick, so I guess that isn't possible. They were stuffed with onions, green peppers, and my choice of meat was ham. My wife had a veggie omelet which she said was very good, but wished it had more cheese. The service was excellent...friendly and welcoming. There were a lot of people in the restaurant, and only 1 waitress, but she kept things moving pretty smoothly. What a great little breakfast gem. An extremely unassuming little cafe with 16 countertop seats and five small tables....mostly filled with local regulars. (Per the waitress, who said she knew almost everyone's name and "usual order.") Mom's decor is sparse and kitschy, sprinkled with historical black and white photos of the area (including an image of the cafe from when it was open in the 1950's) and "Best Of The South Coast" awards certificates for "Best Breakfast" dating back to 2017. The single, attentive, waitress was quiet and kind. The joyful cook was outgoing , talkative and extremely friendly....greeting patrons when they arrived, and thanking them as they left. I had the Mom's Hashbrowns O'Brien. Per the cook, Mom's finely shredded hashbrowns are made in-house daily and tend to be polarizing because of the unique texture and volume. He remarked that people either love them or pan them. (I loved them). They were perfectly cooked with sauted veggies and your meat of choice then covered with cheese (I went with bacon and Pepperjack). It was easy to discern everything was freshly made. The Boyd's coffee was fresh and hot. The proportions were extremely generous, to the point where I had to take half of the breakfast as leftovers. And the price was very reasonable. The portions were large and I ordered too much, just like always. They had 1 server working and she took great care of everyone even though she was so busy. They had 2 cooks and they did a great job keeping up with constant orders. The social distancing was pretty comical and they were refusing to seat people. They won't let anyone sit at the bar, if there is a table behind them that has guests. So instead, the push everyone to the end of the bar to sit right next to each other, rather than spaced out.
