If I could give one star I would im beyond upset whatchamacallit recommended this place!!! I bought my prom dress a few weeks ago and I was told moms alterations in arlington, tx was the place to go sadly that was not the case "mom" was very rude she yelled at us kept telling is no and almost turned us away once she did agree to do the dress she charged way more than the expected cost for not doing nearly as much she refused to do anything but trim the dress and said it would take many weeks to do it. I've never had such bad customer service and I'm actually worried she may completley ruin my dress. The lady doing my measurements didn't know much english and did I sloppy job. And they wouldn't let us pay up front such a mess. read more

Mom's Alterations was recommended to me by a family friend that has been going there for years. I had lost some weight before my wedding and needed my wedding dress altered by about 2 inches. It was very nerve racking to say the least! They completed the alteration in about a week's time and it fit fabulous. To top it off I was only charged $40! I had a great experience all the way around. My husband goes there now when he needs his pants hemmed and in his experience they have hemmed them while he waited. So this place is legendary. Or, at least that's what I was told. After purchasing a suit for my wedding at a higher end retailer, I wasn't happy with the customer service I received when I picked the suit up...so I decided to go elsewhere. I was put on the Mom's Alterations tip shortly thereafter. The place has been around the block, and is an awkward, mostly desolate, strip mall on Cooper. I was nervous. I walked in and was immediately greeted and asked to try my suit on. In my head I had all these things I wanted to point out and as soon I as I stepped out of the dressing room, there was no need for me to say a word. Mom's and them went right to it and could see I was A) uncomfortable and B) in a suit a size too big. Pins went flying, and measurements taken. The suit that was too big all of a sudden started to fit in all the right places. They basically had to rebuild the suit y'all. And they did...for $50 and a 4 day turn around. That's pretty dang good. If you need alterations, or someone screwed something up at another place...go to Mom's. read more

This is not the moms alterations I've gone to for the past 10 years... I had to take back 5 that were horribly altered and went to pick them up today only to get home and find a mess of a job and the uniform I'm supposed to wear in the morning was not altered and still had the safety pins in back of dress read more

If I could give less then one star I would. They day they tell you it will be ready it won't be. And you will spend more money then expected. She will tell you one price and then when you pick up there will be random add on charges. Do not use this place. read more

THIS IS NOT THE MOM'S YOU USED BEFORE!! Pretty sure the business sold. All new people. Prices doubled (my experience) for amateur craftsmanship. Used this place for 15 years with wonderful results, but won't go back. Jeans hemmed lopsided. Hole in jeans pocket patched with all the shredded denim sticking out. Torn seam in blouse completely untouched. Difficult to communicate. Lots of staring and shrugging shoulders when you ask a question. read more

This is going to be a long review (rant) but it'll save you $$$$$ if you are into having your clothes tailored!!! SAVE your clothing and don't make a mistake by having them altered here. They are only good for getting pants hemmed or a little stitching here and there. I've had good experiences with them previously and did get some shirts altered but for the most part I've always had a bad piece of service from them. MOST of their staff lack the basic understanding of a good fit. I went in this time as well to get a suit altered which didn't require too much work. The place that I brought the suit from was charging me four times for the alteration than the actual price of suit. So, I decided to give it to moms alteration only to realize that they messed up the whole suit which took them freaking two weeks to get it ready when they said it would be done in a week. Alongside, I did have some shirts to be altered and they made all of them so tight I can't even button them and even worse they cut the whole fabric from the inside which didn't leave enough margin for me to loosen it up a little. Of course, they are the cheapest but eventually u get exactly what you are paying for. The worst part, if something goes wrong on their part, it is YOU who ends up waiting even more to get it fixed from them again as no sensible person will pay another tailor for alterations for the second time. Don't go there if you really care about how your clothes look on you. There are other places that charge a little than moms alterations but again you get what you pay for. read more

I was referred here by a friend and have been coming for about 8 years now. I'll never go to another alteration place (that is if I don't ever move out of DFW). The staff here is just amazing especially, MOM! I remember the first time I came in and she was so sweet and treated everyone like they were her own kids. 8 years later and she's still as sweet as ever. Whatever you want altered, they deliver it 100% and quick too! The places I've gone to before, I feel like their services weren't up to par with Mom's and that's why I keep coming back. If I needed it the next day, I'd have it the next day. I mean, there's an extra fee, but if you go anywhere else, I believe their average wait time is at least 3 or more days. I have never had a problem here, they're just the best! read more

I dropped off a dress here on which the zipper had gotten caught and I had to be cut out of. I asked if they could replace the zipper for me and they said yes, but it would take a month. I told them that I was going out of town in three weeks and needed it before I left, and they said that they could have it ready two days before I leave. When I came back the day that they told me it would be ready, they hadn't touched it yet, saying that they had to order a zipper and it would be at least another week. If they'd let me know sooner, I could've taken it elsewhere, but now I go out of town in less than two days and there's no way anywhere else will have time to replace the zipper for me. Do not go to Mom's! They are very disorganised and do not tell you when they will be late with your alterations. read more

Mom's Alterations use to be the best, but Mom sold the business some time ago and the new owners are not the people of integrity and skill like Mom and her group were. Here is my recent experience with what has become a DISHONEST, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNSKILLED ALTERATION-MAKING business since Mom left: I took a garment there to be hemmed in early October and when I returned for it the following week and took it home and removed it from the plastic covering, I found that it didn't look brand new and unworn like when I originally brought it to that shop. The HEM WAS UNPROFESSIONALLY SEWN and the garment itself was STRETCHED LOOKING AND UNEVEN especially in the upper arm and shoulder area. Also, the garment was STAINED AND REEKING OF PERFUME (which I never wear). I took the item back to the shop and showed and described to the owner how my brand new, beautiful top looked now after being at her shop being altered. She refused to acknowledge that anything was wrong. If you care about your clothes, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

This place is horrible. Asked for something very specific when I went to drop off. Told it could be done no problem. I also emphazied how important it was to have it done on time as the due date would be 10 days before a wedding. when we came to pick it up NOTHING was done to it. She claimed that it couldn't be done even though I remember going into detail with exactly what I wanted. I even gave her a photo to replicate. I was willing to come up with a compromise if she could come up with something else but all she could say was "I'll see what I can do" or "i'll try" or "maybe, we'll see". This didn't really seem like something that could be left unsure but she could give me absolutely no definitive explanation as to why I wasn't contacted about this problem or advised the day of that it couldn't be done. giant wast of time, She might have been worth someones time in her heyday judging by the outdated photos on the wall but it's just too risky now..... read more

I've been a customer of mom's for over 12 years. So when it came to get my wedding dress hemmed it was a no brainer to go to mom's. They first time I went to get it fitted she only spent 3 minutes making marks. She told me it would be ready in a week. I came back a week later and the dress hadn't been altered at all. A different lady helped me and spent an hour measuring my dress. She told me it would be done the next day by 10 AM. We I went back the next day my dress was still way to long. Also the cut marks were HORRIBLE, and they still had chalk marks all over the place. When I told her this she blamed me saying I must have been wearing different shoes. I wore the same heels all three time. She began trying to re-measure my dress, I told I didn't have time since my wedding was the next day. Mom finally came out and told me not to be sad and no one would see the bottom of my dress. Considering how much I paid for my dress and the alternations that never happened, that comment made it worse. They gave no solutions besides them fixing the cuts which would of made thee dress too short, and the dress not being done in time. I will never go back to Mom's Alternations again. read more
