Bacon, egg and cheese on everything bagel
Alexandra A.

Very cozy little spot! One of the best bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches I have ever tasted! Staff was friendly and although it is a small restaurant l, they accommodated us immediately! Would highly recommend and they do take-out for those stay-in hotel mornings!

egg over medium, toast, and home fries.

The eggs were cooked perfectly. The sausage was super greasy and small portions. It came with bacon but had to order side of sausage because they won't substitute sausage patties for bacon. The staff was not friendly. It seemed as though she didn't want to be there. I never did get my water. When asked if we could get water and tea to go, They wanted to charge us. Even though my friend had tea with her meal.

Great little breakfast spot. We came on a Friday morning so service was quick and easy. Our server was Ryan and she was attentive, fast, bubbly and kind. Our meals were great and came out hot. We got the Irish Benedict and homemade hash omelet.

Lobster Eggs Benedict and an iced coffee. Staff was very friendly and we were seated right away. A great place for a great breakfast!

Homemade hash

What a gem breakfast cafe! Friendly staff, tasty food and diverse options! Returned the next day and the server recognized us - made us feel at home!

Lovely place! Meals are too salty to our taste, but the place is nice, clean and welcoming over all. Paula (the owner I guess) trained her son that day. Good people! I'll be back here the next time I am in Maine.

Foods and smoothies are delicous here. I had a LobsterRoll, my son had a Cheeseburger. I'm so glad we found this place.

I think this goes with Molly Os too. We had great sandwiches and flatbread pizza. It was quick and friendly service.

Toast was bread. Scrambled eggs look like fried eggs. Yuck. Old Molly's new how to cook.

You get the nostalgia of the place as soon as you walk in. After I ordered, I had buyers remorse as I had not gotten some of the more famous things this place had. I am now still upset as I type this. The Lobster Pie and some of the namesake lobster sandwiches would have probably been much better than what I had. I was a bit burnt out on seafood and it was breakfastish time. I screwed up and ordered something that I knew I didn't like but thought I might be wrong. Nope. I was right, that I was wrong.... I got the country breakfast, with CITY HAM! What a moron!! I hate city ham and have no idea why I ordered it. Hate it! Hate it! Hate it! Mad at myself for being a dumbass. It came with beans on toast and I ordered some kind of local sausages too. C had corned beef hash and eggs, and stole my beans and toast. I had some sausage gravy too to slap on them biscuits. Server was nice. It's hard to remember exactly because I lost my internal cool.... I did good keeping it contained, I don't think C even picked up on it as I am mastering my ability to have internal meltdowns with no external visibility. C did learn something here.... She likes baked beans on toast.... We are now looking for ways to get this elsewhere. We live in Memphis, so it's not that common. So we now ask for toast at BBQ places. Tehehe Sausage gravy was pretty good. Biscuits were fair. Hot Italian Sausages were very good, I liked them much better than city fucking ham. Beans are really nice with a good flavor and a nice kick. The side of potatoes were tasty. City ham sucks and should be banished from the planet earth immediately! I may make it back, if I do, I will get the Lobster Pie probably! Message me if you have and let me know your thoughts. We love you Maine!!! '26 - 20

This iconic little diner is set up inside a vintage trailer/box car style building right in the heart of downtown Biddeford. Seating is limited to about a dozen people at a time, so be prepared to wait -- but trust me, it's worth it. After my fiancée watched an episode of Somebody Feed Phil featuring the diner, we were on a mission to try their famous chicken sandwich. The sandwich absolutely lived up to the hype! It's huge, packed with flavor, and served with a fresh lettuce wedge salad on the side. The chicken had the perfect crispy exterior while staying juicy and delicious inside. We could only eat half and happily brought the rest home. Luckily, it was a beautiful Maine day and we didn't have to wait long for a seat. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and added to the fantastic overall vibe of the diner. One thing to know before you go -- the diner is cash only, but there's an ATM conveniently located right outside. If you love hidden gems, amazing comfort food, and unique local dining experiences, Palace Diner is definitely a must-visit spot in southern Maine. Highly recommended and absolutely worth the trip back!

I cannot even remember what I got but I remember thinking it was a waste of $. As for the ambiance-it's a fiber with a counter & stools (no tables), it was uncomfortable & freezing inside. Decided to give them a try for lunch, I have read so much about how amazing their fried chicken sandwich is, so I entered that online and see the sandwich is $22...to get fries with that it is another $8.50...ok, I think it's my birthday & my husband and I can split it all so that's only about $15 a piece. Go to put order in and there is an AUTOMATIC 22% gratuity added that cannot be changed or removed. Let me get this straight-ya'll are charging $30.50 for a chicken sandwich and fries (nothing special-no antibiotic free range chicken, probably saline packed chicken from China ‍) AND you think it's ok to tack on 22% tip for LUNCH TAKE OUT???? Sooooo that's $40.56 for a chicken sandwich and fries, tax + tip. ‍ Yeah, no. I would not eat here if they were the last restaurant on earth. I love supporting local, but how greedy can you be?

They were not anything compared to the Trader Joe's blueberry muffins in terms of softness and moisture...Costco blueberry muffins are a little bit less dry than these. - the grilled bit of the muffin was a bit of a letdown. It is just literally cut in half and put on top of a grill for maybe a few minutes for the char lines and that's it. Nothing else done to it - they made it sound like it had something else so I'm pretty disappointed in that one. - BUT the chocolate pancake was DELICIOUS. It's like Betty Crocker chocolate cake mix on a pan, in the shape of a pancake, and chocolate frosting/fudge/ganache? On top, with white icing to make the squiggle. Would buy over the muffin tbh. - the chili was swimming with cheese, so if you like that it's for you. My bf couldn't eat his because it was a thick glob of melted cheese every time he lifted his fork. BUT I myself adore cheese so I would've been happy with that. Maybe they can ask customers how much cheese they want? That'd solve that problem. Low/Medium/High levels of cheese?

SERVICE: Adrienne took wonderful care of us, keeping coffee topped off and making sure we had everything we needed. FOOD: Good, solid diner food, fresh ingredients. One pancake was the size of the entire dish, could have used a few more chocolate chips. The campora omlet good, would be made better with something savory added or maybe more garlic/onion spice. Home fries were tasty, grilled english muffin excellent. The corned beef hash is crunchy, preference is for the beef to be a bit softer. The bill can be paid with credit card, but the tip must be in cash. Plenty of parking. Beware, if going during winter, the entrance walkway is barely shoveled, we had issues getting a walker through as one side was a very thick layer of ice, so a tricky entrance and exit. I'd recommend they put way more ice melt down near the entrance and chip away at that ice to prevent falls. The parking lot was nice and clear.

The french fries alone are why I love the place. They taste like they chopped a potato right there and tossed it into the frier. I'm sick of places that use the gross coated fries, Gilley's thankfully does not do that! It's a small little diner that's been around forever with only a few parking spots (like three or four) in a busy area of Portsmouth. The hours are a little wacky but it's always worth it. The fried egg and cheese and the grilled cheese are made about as perfectly as one could hope. Very greasy spoon diner type of grub. Reading some of the one star reviews, they seem to come from disgruntled people who have a weird agenda who also don't tip and are proud to mention it in their review... and this is the only place they've reviewed? Ignore them and just know the food is good. Only downside - It is cramped inside the little space. There are only a few (six?) stools inside - which is fine if the place isn't busy. I'd more recommend getting the food to go.

I think it is good after a night out kind of food, if you get what I mean. Simple, quick, and greasy. Now, I will say - I went with a large group of people one night after going on the harbor cruise and there was only one guy working. That man was the order taker, cashier, and cook, and everything else in between; he did a great job as far as handling the orders and getting the food cooked and out the door quickly, so kudos to him. Menu consists of burgers, hot dogs, fries, and some miscellaneous other items - again, very simple. Our group got a mixture of cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and fries - some "cheesy", others regular. I got a cheeseburger and regular fries. It was mediocre. Like I said, probably good after a night out food but for me, I it wasn't great.
