Jack sour

Stopped in for a quick bite. They have made some nice upgrades including a full bar. The pernil was tender and combined with the garlic sauce it made it very flavorful. Black beans and white rice was nice compliment to the dish. The mixologist served up perfectly mixed Jack sours. My quick bite ended up having me in there for over an hour.

Sancocho

I randomly found this spot for lunch on a cold day. I chose the Sancocho and it tasted authentic. Place was nice and quiet since it just opened for the day. My server was very attentive.

Mofongo Plain

Delicious Dominican food spot. We had the lunch specials a few times and frequently stop by for the cafe con leche. The food is all so Yummy! The mofongo was amazing. We nearly licked our plates. It was so comforting on a winter day. The chicken soup was good, the rice and beans are classic. The pernil was very flavorful. The only issue I have with this place is the super slow service. We wanted to do a sit down lunch so we got there at 1. We didn't get our food until 150. It took forever for the waiter to even take our order. We kept flagging him down and we get ignored. People that came after us were helped before us. I think the service aspect needs to be reorganized. This is a very busy place with delicious food but it needs to run smoother.

Whenever I get stuck in the "boogie-down" by Yankee Stadium I always try to hit up this place for some good, quick Puerto Rican and Dominican food. I remember when this little hole-in-the-wall simply used to be called, Cuchifritos. I guess it changed owners and is now more Dominican. Whenever you come to the Bronx you know that you can always find decent latin food, however you don't want to go experimenting if you don't know any particular places. Your stomach just might pay the price. Here you can enjoy your food without the fear of the unexpected. I've learned that if you are trying to get your food to-go, getting quicker attention from the people that work the counter might take more than the Spanish you learned in high school. No worries. They will get to you eventually. The service is pretty timely. You can't go wrong with a good cuban sandwich but I normally go for the standard rice and beans with pernil asado. Mix that all together with platanos maduros and I have a meal that makes me a happy man. The food here is pretty authentic and the pernil here is the real deal. To some, having the crunchy skin or what Puerto Ricans call, "chicharron," thrown in there with the rest of the pork might gross them out a bit but that's the way it's supposed to be. That is what makes good pernil great. This is a great place for lunch. We've tried coming here for breakfast before but if you stray from eggs-over-easy and try to get a little daring, you might be regretting it a little later. I tried a typical Dominican specialty called "mangu" once......ONCE. Having breakfast rumblings from down below at 8am on a work day is not a good thing. Like I said, this spot is great for lunch. I wouldn't go taking a date here to impress because it's not exactly the area for romance. Interestingly enough, the nearby Grand Concourse thoroughfare that runs through the Bronx was modeled after the Champs-Élysées that runs through Paris. Before I walked into the establishment I saw two guys in their 50s get into a fistfight on the sidewalk. Thankfully, the area is near several courthouses and a precinct nearby so the fight was quickly quelled in a matter of seconds by police. While this area might be a far cry from Paris, you can safely eat some of the best latin american food you will find anywhere.

I don't think this place deserves such a low rating probably a half a star higher would be ok. First off I came after a Yankke game like most folks to their first time here, I had the chicharrón with rice and beans. Everything was good with the pork being on a little tougher than usual and since the place was being renovated seating was a bit limited. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town to see if they have improved.

Beef stew, white rice and beans

Ate at the Molino Rojo 2 hour before a Yankee game. The place was packed. Line out the door for the entire meal. For good reason. The food was good and inexpensive to boot. Latin comfort food abounds. Our meal consisted of 2 beers, 1 pork chops, an order of plantains, an order of beef stew, side order of white rice and beans and an order of coconut juice all for $20. Will definitely be back.

Great Spanish place by my job. You can get a lunch meal for $10 that can feed 3 people! Well 3 people my size anyway. Lol

Food was great. They do not honor the free wine for check in. They said it was only with the old owners.

Terrible "Chofan". They use left over chicken and it tastes awful. Don't bother with this trash food.

Well, I had decided to go here for my birthday back in 2020 when The Pandemic had happened so, I ate outside, I never made it inside. When Covid happened a lot of changes because I had to scan the QR code on the back to get the menu because to limit contact between others. The service was spot on , they were attentive. Now the food and drinks I had was ice water. A Pina Colada I've never had, but was disappointed because they watered down, I didn't taste any alcohol. I just had cheeseburger and french fries , which I couldn't finished. I also a fish taco which I never had before and it was delicious and I knew that they used fresh grease because of how they looked. I would go back out here for two reasons to check out the inside and for those fish tacos.

The awning keeps you shaded from the sun while you enjoy the open air, which made for a really relaxed and enjoyable afternoon. Cold beer, great bar food, and a laid back vibe -- hard to beat. We're coming back for an MMA fight night and possibly Cinco de Mayo. This place has the right energy for both. Highly recommend checking out happy hour if you haven't already.

The area has a heavy Spanish speaking influence, so I was greeted with Spanish every time. I'm brushing up on my Spanish (Duolingo warrior here), so I didn't mind. Everyone speaks perfect English too, and I was treated just as well as the Spanish speakers I ate with. I elected to eat the Tres Golpes. It was hearty and full of flavor. The beers are cheap, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the vibe is really fun and paid back. My only complaint is it's far away from me, it else is go there for all major sporting events.

I have a video of someone walking out of their side door happily greeting the people . This was at 4am, Oct 4. I saw someone taking out the trash from the same side door. It's against the law for people to blast music, and it's rude to people trying to sleep. But I guess Latinos don't care about anyone but themselves. I think I'll bring my boom box and play it outside your restaurant while people are trying to eat. Some Guns 'n Roses and AC/DC, perhaps. if I blared Latino music they'd probably just get up to dance. Don't get me wrong. I like Latino music. But at a concert or a place where the permit allows, not at 2am in front of my building. I blame management because it looked like someone in management who came out to greet the offenders.

We were taken care of by Vanessa, who was friendly and gave great recommendations. Vanessa also accommodating a bday sing for my friend with my order of dessert. They played a special song and brought out an cute artificial cake with a flare candle (made for a fun photo op moment). Crowd was mixed, and later a DJ showed up playing some mixed tracks. Just a heads up: if you sit near the DJ booth, it can get pretty loud. There is a bar area plus several tables to choose from. Indoor and outdoor seating available. It is off Broadway under the 1 train, and they offer valet parking (not sure how much though). Overall nice experience. Would definitely go back, recommend!
