We had a group of 12 to celebrate my 61st trip around the Sun. We arrived on time and our table was waiting with "reserved" table tents. The interior is a revelation compared to the exterior. It is simple and modern, with Mexican artifacts on the walls (I WANT the lighted Talavera) and there are interested lamps and hanging speakers throughout. We were greeted quickly by our server, Brandon. We noticed that the menu is limited but there were interesting items to select. I decided on the Chicken "Mole" Enchiladas (I LOVE Mole) and a Jalapeno Margarita to assist my esophagus, which sounds clinical but is very necessary. The enchiladas were EXACTLY what I was expecting and the cocktail had a demure grade of heat with a hint of spice in the throat. I was very satisfied with my items, as were my wife and children. It was my BDAY but the star of the show was Brandon. He was very attentive and accommodating to all twelve of us, which I am sure can't be easy. I do not write reviews but when I do it's usually when I've had a great experience or a horrible one. In this case, it was a great one. "The food was delicious! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the Chicken Mole and their guacamole! I love that the chips are homemade. What a wonderful experience. We showed up a little early for happy hour prior to our 4:30 reservation. We had the quac and chips (chips are bomb), had the corn appetizer, the avocado fries, all great. We were a group of 6 and ordered, ceviche, beef enchiladas, fish, beef tacos and skirt steak, every dish had a great unique fresh and delicious taste. Will definitely be back! Our dining experience, to celebrate our wedding anniversary, was made more special by the excellence of our server Joseph. We have dietary restrictions and he was so thoughtful and careful to explain what the ingredients were in each dish we considered. In other restaurants we ask the same questions and the server says "I'm not sure. let me ask the chef". Then we wait. Every time I visit Palm Springs, I make it a point to stop here for margaritas--they're amazing! The food is just as fantastic. As a Jarocha (from Veracruz, Mex), I especially love their "Jarocho Guaca-crab"--it's incredible! Not only is the food delicious, but the presentation is also top-notch. I've tried several dishes, and they never disappoint. The ambiance and lighting create a great atmosphere, and the servers and bartenders are always friendly and welcoming. She also was the bartender and made me some fantastic old fashioned. Okay on to the root of this amazing dream. The food and service were very good. I'll definitely go back again. Lots of interesting choices on the menu. I gave it four stars because we asked to eat in courses and instead they brought everything out at the same time. They happily took the entrée back; however, when it returned, it was lukewarm so my guess is they didn't remake it - I'll never know. We didn't complain. We were having a good time so we just ate it. I wanted to like this place because vibe was good, but frozen fish in thick gelatinous liquid is not ceviche. And then being told by staff when we raised concern that "it's supposed to be frozen" put us off. Also the service model was such that the server took your order then someone else brought it out, and no one ever came to check on you. We realized this because we also had to send back a margarita that we had ordered with tajin but came out with salt-- after sitting with our drinks for 10 minutes and having to flag down a food runner. We stopped here for an anniversary lunch. We started with drinks and the guacamole and chips, then had the guac and crab appetizer. Next we orders the mole beef brisket enchiladas. Wow. Just wow. We finished with flan and ice cream. The food was PERFECT! This was hands down the best Mexican food I've ever had. The service was amazing too. Not too clingy. Always filled our water. Then came the one disappointment- the bathroom. Guys, if you bring your girl here, do not let her use the restroom. It was not up to the level of the food Mole creates. It soured my wife on the experience. They were not clean and refined like the food. If we go back, we will not use their facilities. To the owners, PLEASE invest in a bathroom remodel. Outstanding experience from beginning to end. We were greeted warmly, and our table was ready at our reservation time. The service was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. We started with the guacamole and chips, which were surprisingly good. The guacamole, prepared with pomegranates, was delicious, and we couldn't get enough of the freshly prepared chips. The Mole Enchiladas were amazing! Others in our party enjoyed the Pollo Barracho, and the sides of cole slaw and potatoes. My only quibble was that there were only two menu items with mole: the enchiladas and a lamb shank. I would love to see more mole options. I bet it's very romantic and elegant at night. We dined for lunch on excellent ceviche home made warm tortilla chips . The Mole enchiladas were enjoyed and very authentic. Gluten free options are marked which is appreciated. Some very authentic home made recipes going on here . I had street tacos with grilled chicken. We are following our waiter, Juan. He is here on Monday and at Mitches restaurant on other days. He is the best! We loved the ambiance but parking is not convenient. The Cadillac Margarita is the best I ever had! It was so fresh tasting with a dried orange and lime on top that was tasty too. Also, you will never have better corn bread. It's so light and fluffy. My niece loved her skirt steak with potatoes.. It came with home made tortillas which were also delicious. The mole enchiladas were good but not the best ever . The rice and beans were not great, you can skip these. Definite skip the ceviche because it taste like breakfast orange juice. The best of the three deserts was the flan. It was delicious. Many things wrong with this restaurant. 1. For a restaurant called mole, their mole was extremely subpar. 2. They charge for water and they don't offer tap water. This is ridiculous. 3. They wouldn't evenly split a check three ways. We weren't even asking to separate specific items. 4. Auto 20% gratuity for average service. Compete waste of money. Would not recommend. Second visit. We arrived early with the plan to order a pre dinner cocktail at the bar. The hostess assured us that was fine. The bar was all seated with people eating dinner and the bartenders ignored us standing behind them. The manager finally came over and said we couldn't stand there. ?????? So you have a bar but people cannot order drinks there? We left for another spot, got a cocktail and returned. The food was pretty good when we finally got it. The spicy green salsa and the guacamole were both flavorful. The sauce for the mole chicken great too. Some entrees arrived with out rice and beans (like my last experience) and I asked for no dairy on my item and was told they could do it. It arrived with dairy. Cute decor just a lot to work out. We were looking for a fun date night dinner after a long day in Joshua Tree and loved Mole! The vibes were great and it was quiet enough to be able to chat and enjoy din together. We didn't have reservations because we were unsure about our timing and were able to walk in on a Wednesday evening around 7:30p without a wait. Our waitress was very friendly and we both enjoyed our margs (jalapeño marg was SPICAYYY but good & guava was lovely). Strongly recommend the street corn which comes with housemade chip medallions with chili lime seasoning, the soup was hearty and very good, and the cornbread comes served in a cast iron and is on the sweeter side but was fun and delish! I went to Palm Springs twice this past month for work, then family leisure, and ate TWICE at this restaurant because it was that good! We made reservations the first time we went, walked in the second time and they were very accommodating. Service is super friendly and their margaritas were a hit, especially in the warm desert heat. Decor feels upscale and tasteful but we were in t shirts and sneakers after a tennis session, seems like it might be more dressy at night. Cornbread- was good but seems like it was sitting for a while. Salsa was just ok, no real flavor. Tacos (Fish and Steak) were good. The sauce had some good heat. Salmon enchiladas were good and the boracho chicken was tasty. The issue we had was the service. They did not have a good flow. 2 servers and they were also the bartenders. We had one drink opportunity at our table because our server was not existent. The bussing of the table was also non existent. We arrived in the Happy Hour time and when the server came to take our drink order we asked him about HH, he asked us the time and then said yeah I can get you one in. We were there at 6:10. We litterally only had one beverage the entire time there. Would of had more, but service was slow and no opportunity to order more.
