Walked into somewhat newer brewery, didn't have high expectations, Joseph made it a tasting experience, and made us feel like family. Never in my life have I been to a brewery and felt such a similar experience to a high-end wine bar. Beers are amazing. They make all of their own beers, we tried the plaza Mexican lager and it was great. It's a smaller place but there are tables inside and outside and some bar seating. No heavy stouts, no sours, nothing cask aged, but the selection of lagers and lighter beers is perfect for day drinking if you aren't looking to go wild. In addition to the indoor seating at the front, there's a patio in the back with a few chairs and tables that's perfect for sitting outside on sunny days. The thing I enjoyed the most about Las Palmas though was how friendly the staff was. Since it was our first visit to the brewery, we were unfamiliar with the beer offerings and didn't immediately know what we wanted. The staff member behind the counter was helpful with their recommendations and even gave us small samples we could try out. If you're in the Palm Springs downtown area, I would definitely recommend checking out Las Palmas Brewing for a beer or two.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Hair of the Dog involving my trained service dog…read more When I arrived, the doorman/manager refused to let me enter with my service dog and told me we could sit outside. When I challenged that, he referred me to the owner, Chuck. Chuck came outside and reaffirmed that my service dog had to remain outside. He told me that I could go inside while someone could hold my dog on the deck. After I continued to object, Chuck asked me to show service-dog ID because my dog wasn't wearing a vest. I explained that service dogs are not legally required to wear a vest or carry identification. I happened to have an unofficial service-dog ID with me and showed it to him, but by that point I no longer wanted to give the establishment my business. As I was leaving, I passed the deck and heard Chuck discussing the incident with another man and describing me as unreasonable while saying he wasn't discriminating against anyone. After seeing my dog, the other man commented, "That's a big dog; I wouldn't want it in here either." For clarity, my dog was under my control and was not causing a disturbance. My issue isn't that someone asked the two questions businesses are permitted to ask about a service animal. My issue is that I was initially told my service dog could not accompany me inside, the owner reaffirmed that decision, and only after I repeatedly challenged it did the conversation turn to demanding identification because he wasn't wearing a vest. The ADA does not require service dogs to wear vests or carry service-dog identification. A business also cannot simply require a customer with a service dog to use outdoor seating instead of allowing the dog to accompany the customer inside. I ultimately chose to leave and spend my money elsewhere. A Girls' Weekend Favorite!…read more One of our favorite things to do when we escape to Palm Springs for a girls' weekend is try somewhere new, and 1501 Uptown Gastropub did not disappoint! From the delicious food to the fabulous cocktails, everything was absolutely wonderful! But what really made our visit memorable was our server, Jesse! What a gem! He had the BEST smile, was incredibly attentive, and genuinely seemed delighted to make sure we were having a great time. You can tell when someone truly enjoys taking care of people, and Jesse was exactly that! One of my girlfriends doesn't drink alcohol, and Jesse thoughtfully suggested a mojito mocktail that she absolutely loved! It's those little touches and that kind of hospitality that make an experience stand out. The rest of us thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails, the food was delicious, and the entire experience was exactly what we hoped for on our girls' getaway. Great food, great drinks, even better hospitality! We'll absolutely be adding 1501 Uptown Gastropub to our list of places worth revisiting. And Jesse, keep flashing that incredible smile! We got the kids a cheese toast and fries. The fries were good! My kids really enjoyed them. The cheese toast was ok. Even they weren't too excited about it. I ordered the Chick Under a Brick. It sounded so good and tasty on paper but it was actually a little bland. The chimichurri didn't quite chimichurri enough lol. The chicken was bland. My husband had the 1501 burger medium well. He said it was good. He got a beer and I got the Ponche de Hisbiscus. My drink sounded yummy on paper but I feel like the taste didn't quite fit the description. We opted for no dessert because my kids were tired but there were plenty of nut free options which is always something I need to look out for.

My request was ignored, eventually forcing me to move the plates to the side myself to create space.I had planned to celebrate a casino win with a generous tip and have previously recommended this venue to others.
