Mold gone convinced me that in their professional experience and expert opinion, there was no need reason to suspect that mold would affect the hardwood floor, and the only thing that needed to be done was remove the drywall. Since I know nothing about home improvement or maintenance, and I know nothing about mold, I accepted their judgement. I felt their estimate was overpriced and should have been about 25% cheaper, but since no other contractors were available to start remediation for several weeks, I agreed to begin the project. During the drywall removal phase, they removed my dehumidifier from the space and placed it in the utility room, blocking the air intake to the A/C -- I don't know why any professional would block the air intake, since I left the A/C running for their comfort, and blocking it only damages the heat pump. They also failed to bring in a dehumidifier as they said they would, instead only bringing a fan. When the work was done, they pushed me to begin the reconstruction phase, although I was not convinced that the mold was cleaned up due to a remaining musty smell. There was also a specific place on the drywall, which I measured with my moisture meter, that still read as too wet (it was twice the moisture level they had told me to regard as normal) -- indicating to me that this section also needed to be removed; I noted this specific section of the drywall to them and ask to have it removed as well. A few days later, they responded by saying they had returned to the unit, and everything measured normal. Afterwards, I went back and measured the drywall in question myself, just to be sure -- and sure enough, it was still twice the normal moisture . I then had the opportunity to examine the floor more closely, since a portion I could remove and examine had been exposed after they moved the appliances for the remediation. Much to my surprise and dismay, there was a significant amount of mold under the floor boards. Due to my belief that they intentionally deceived several times about this job, and also my belief that what work was done was done poorly, I've decided to seek another contractor to finish the job. read more
