Oh man, I haven't been back here in a while and that's such a shame. We did a reservation online for around 4:45pm or 5:00pm. We got a seat that was close enough and had a good view of the live music! So their happy hour is 50% of all the small plates and $12 pizzas. We got the szechuan stir-fry green beans with mac nuts (can get a bit salty, would be good with rice haha!), bulgogi sliders, roasted squash ravioli, poke tacos and a hamakua mushroom and truffle oil pizza! Win win The place is huge so we went to the counter in the back area. The place has a nice ambiance and some nice artwork. We started out with some drinks and truffle fries. The bartenders were friendly and personable and it's great. The fries came out so quickly with a ranch like dressing as well as ketchup. Both went well with the truffle fries. Not sure what has happened to this place, but it has gone downhill fast. The last three times we came, we left disappointed. Not in the staff--they're still helpful. But the food quality has collapsed. Hosted a large party recently, and we all thought our dishes were "meh" at best. Someone's caesar salad looked so sad and dry, it was inedible. We heard complaints that the burgers were terrible and not worth the price. And they still haven't fixed the fries--they look enticing, but they're always soggy and limp (they don't cook them at the right temps, obviously). Sadly, quality here is gone and with it, the vibe. Moku Kitchen remains one of my go-to spots, especially for a group or for visiting friends. Plus the whole restaurant (indoor and patio) is dog friendly! They focus on local ingredients, and the flavors really appeal to a large palette. I did bring a visiting vegan friend here once and it was a bit hard for him to find something to eat, but they did make it work with a few modifications. There is a great parking garage connected to SALT, but Moku only validates for one hour if you dine in. I recently tried a new drink here called Tequila little time, and it was SPICY. I loved it but a few friends tried a sip and they were overwhelmed. They are known for their mai tai here, but my pro tip is to just add their lilikoi cold foam to any of their drinks that catch your eye. Even though it wasn't happy hour, I went for their kalua pork and pineapple pizza which is $12 on happy hour but $21 regularly. I'm going to stick with just ordering their pizzas on happy hour from now on. I also ordered their caesar salad, without any protein add-ons it was $14. I would not recommend ordering it as a main entree, it really is a side salad portion for a whole entree price. The service here usually is really good but once it gets busy, the staff here get a bit overwhelmed. I think some sections may include inside and the patio area, I saw our server hustling in and out constantly. It was hard to get her attention at times, and I don't think any of us got a single water refill. Totally on us, but half of our party was stuck in traffic and late to our reservation and we felt very rushed when we were told that each reservation is only for 2 hours-- we obviously were set on being as courteous possible and got out before that 2 hour mark. 3 stars but I will most likely be back again - hope to update my review again when I do! read more

Went to Moku on a weekday during lunch. Was not busy at the time, so we got seated right away. Parking is either street parking or within SALT parking garage with first hour free (w/ validation). Tried the Banh Mi sandwich, which came with fries. The fries were okay. Not very seasoned and also not cooked to my personal liking. The sandwich was good for a banh mi. It came with fish as a protein and the traditional pairings of cilantro and pickled veggies. Overall, food was okay. Not bad though. I have heard that they do live music later at night, so maybe the ambiance would have been a little better with that. Aside from that Moku looks like a fairly clean and local modern place. They aren't really able to seat large parties of greater than 8, but still a nice restaurant nonetheless. Recommend calling for a reservation because it gets very crowded.
