I was coached to shut out the noise and focus on my breath. To my surprise, I stayed in for over three minutes. The exhilaration afterward was incredible, only surpassed by the sensation when re-entering the sauna as warmth and circulation flooded back in. It's invigorating, deeply calming, and oddly addictive. Release Well-Being Center is a premier destination for contrast therapy. I've not found anything that comes close to this experience. Known as BLISS, their expertly curated sauna and cold plunge experience lives up to its name. The space is stunning, the amenities are immaculate, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and professional. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed and that you are in for an elevated experience. The changing rooms are beautifully appointed (think high-end resort), and your locker is stocked with the most delicious robe, towel, and a pair of sandals. The staff does an exceptional job of keeping every space spotless, from the showers to the changing areas, and the beauty area, which boasts high-end hair products and styling tools, as well as any items you may have forgotten, such as hair ties, brushes, sanitary products, and razors. The heart of the experience lies in the relaxation lounge, a true sanctuary featuring two infrared saunas, a traditional sauna, and two pristine cold plunges (at temperatures of approximately 44° and 54°). The sauna relaxes and detoxifies. It's hot, yes, but deeply calming, evoking memories of back when it was okay to bake in the sun at the beach. The cold plunge is undeniably cold, but not painful; it stings and serves as a bracing wake-up call to both the body and mind. Sink in swiftly, breathe with intention, and time moves faster than you think. The contrast between the two has been transformative for me, with improved circulation, enhanced mental clarity, better cardio performance, a more elevated mood, and faster muscle recovery. And when you think you've hit peak Bliss, there's the eucalyptus steam room, also the best I've ever experienced. Stepping into its warm, fragrant mist after contrast therapy feels like a hug for your entire body. I've also had the pleasure of getting to know Linda Townsend, the founder and president of Release, who leads by example and shares the space with members. Our conversations in the sauna, about health, balance, and life, are part of what keeps me coming back. Release is more than a wellness center. It's a community, and a true gem in the heart of Boston. Try their generous Bliss trial membership. You won't regret it!

The staff is capable and friendly and the facility is clean and welcoming. This spa is exactly what I need in my life. Bring your bathing suit! Take a tour and see what the spa looks like. I bet you'll want to book something. There is an open room that has three types of saunas and two cold plunges. My niece made me do the plunge pools, and one was MUCH colder than the other. So refreshing! We both had facials and my skin glowed for days. The estheticians were great! If I am in Boston again for any reason, I would definitely book a facial and/or massage at Release Well-Being Center again. Bostonians are lucky to have this beautiful spa.

I had no idea what to expect walking in (and I was even running late), but the moment I arrived, I was greeted with kindness, no rush, no judgment--just a warm welcome and clear guidance to my private suite. The whole experience felt intentional and peaceful. I started in the infrared sauna, took a quick refreshing shower, and then went for the cold plunge--which, yes, was a shock to the system in the best way. It was exactly what I needed and honestly healing on so many levels. The space was super clean and stocked thoughtfully with towels, deodorant, soap, hair ties, a shower cap--all the little things that matter. One thing to note: bring slippers if you want something on your feet while you're in the suite. What I also love is that if you buy a pack, you can use it at any Sweathouse location--even out of state, which I definitely plan to take advantage of. If you've been thinking about it or keep seeing them pop up online--take it as your sign. Whether you're new to infrared saunas or already hooked, this place is absolutely worth a visit. It's a full vibe. No regrets.

I signed up for the first-time $50 introductory session. You get a private room with infrared sauna…read more(you can adjust the temperature, lighting), cold plunge tub (deep enough to lie down, large open rainfall shower with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel. We were checked in, staff were very helpful, one took us to our room (you can bring a guest and share the room, they also pay $50), and explained how everything worked, set a timer and then left. Sauna was great, just large enough for two, and very spacious for one. Plenty of large clean towels were provided (would suggest having some kind of floormat), it's very dim in the main room which is very atmospheric, we ended up using the phone flashlight for more light when we were packing up. Sauna was set at 140 degrees and can go to 170, we increased it to 145 after the first plunge. The plunge is good, quite a deep and long tub, it was set at 46 degrees. Some kind of step/railing would be good. The vitamin C shower was good, shampoo, conditioner and bodywash is provided. It was a bit slow to drain. The hour goes quickly. This location has just opened so everything seemed very clean and new. I would go again, the pricing is a little confusing in that if you want to bring a guest, you pay double, despite sharing a room. There's also a nice little shared area outside with mirrors/blowdryers if you want to dry your hair before heading out. Would recommend arriving 10 mins early to check in and sign waiver form (including a $1000 fine if you're inappropriate in the room). Your room is private and you can lock the door so you can wear a swimsuit or not. We thought there was a big line at check in when we arrived but it was just lots of staff members. A nice addition to Southie, would be great on a cold day or after exercise.

First time is $45 (a little pricey IMO especially for your first session) but if you like it they have a lot of pack options which is great. They provide gloves and fuzzy socks along with shoes you wear during your session. They explain everything which was great because I was nervous as it was my first time. Their facilities are really clean which I appreciated as well. A little out of my budget to come here routinely, but great every now and then when I need something to help me recover from an intense workout.
