I can hear chasing a high from a previous take away order here of the same egg and cheese. Back then it was super gooey and warm and the perfect texture. Sadly it was not replicated this time. An average taste at best, egg was pretty cooked. With a latte and tip this was shy of 20 dollars Service was alright, very friendly staff, however I was rather off put that they stared at the screen as the tip section came on. Cute cafe to sit in due to its interior but I will not be back to sit in it. At least they have compostable straws read more

This cafe was cute! Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was practically empty. I liked the atmosphere as there was a lot of seating and books in the bookshelves. The servers were nice but the pastries on the counter looked a bit old as they looked like they've been there a while. I got a hot chocolate and it came out really quick. However, I lifted up the cup and it felt like the drink was only filled 3/4ths of the way to the top which was disappointing. The hot chocolate was okay; it wasn't too sweet and didn't have anything special about it. I was kind of disappointed as it costed $5.50 which is pretty expensive for a 16 oz drink that was probably only 12 oz as it wasn't filled to the top. Probably won't be back here again. read more

It's so cozy and homey here. They are a café that serves their coffee in mugs instead of paper cups which I like. It seems like a popular place for people that live in the area to grab something before walking to work. It's fun to sit outside and observe busy Polk Street. Closes on the early side at 3pm. read more

My favorite coffee shop on Polk and my favorite mocha in all of SF! Food: my go to drink order is a mocha with oat milk (hot or iced, they're both amazing) and my go to food order is the Canadian bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. Consistently delicious! Service: above and beyond! The folks here are so kind and not to mention, extremely efficient Ambiance: cute and cozy! Their indoor space is perfect for getting some work done. This spot is so quaint and cute! The ladies working here are honestly so nice, and during the weekdays the mornings in this coffee shop are really chill and quiet. Brought my laptop and worked here for the first few hours of the day and it was perfect. There were outlets and free wifi, and had the perfect spot facing the window. Felt like working outside! This place has potential but again like many biz here its marred by the homeless peeps camped next to it. The cafe itself is quite homey & comfy with mix of wooden chairs & old leather upholstery bench, relaxing jazz music in the back ground. The latte was good. The barista said its her last day here because of safety concerns. As we spoke one of the homeless berserker was cussing & rampaging up & down the street, yelling at passers by, kicking trash bins & smashing chairs next door...sigh. If this is in Singapore he would have been given some good old fashion justice from the cat O' nine tails. read more

Best things about this place: 1. The white moka 2. Semi clean bathroom. You're on Polk St., set the bar low 3. Chalk art on the walls 4. Its proximity to Bob's Donuts 5. It reminds me of nights spent over coffee and books and going on dates with long-haired boys short on vocabulary. read more

Moka Coffee looked like a cute neighborhood cafe so I decided to pay it a visit. I ordered a Canadian bacon, egg, and cheese croissant and a cup of green tea. It was a very slow Tuesday morning. There was only one other patron in the cafe drinking coffee. When I got my sandwich, the cheese was stone cold so I went to the counter asking politely if she could heat up the croissant to melt the cheese. (The photo shows the cheese is just cold and hard inside of the croissant.) The cashier was chatting with her colleague, not busy at all. She seemed to be very annoyed with my request. She said she couldn't heat it up and that's just how they serve the sandwich...but she could put it in the microwave for me. It was clear that she didn't want to be bothered so I said don't worried about it. Then, I found out that my croissant doesn't have any Canadian bacon in it. I went back to the counter asking about it. Again, received quite a bit of attitude. The cashier said it's just a cheese and egg croissant. I ordered Canadian bacon, cheese, and egg croissant, paid for that and have the receipt showing that... She then realized her mistake and said she gave my croissant to another patron by accident. Only then, her attitude soften up. But apparently they ran out of Canadian bacon at 8:30am so no Canadian bacon for me. Mistakes happen and supplies run short sometimes. None of those really matter. What stinks is the cashier's attitude. I love visiting neighborhood cafe as I enjoy the friendly human exchange experience. However, I'll not be coming back to Moka Cafe. read more

Moka is a welcoming coffee shop on polk, and the only of its kind on this stretch of polk for some reason. The cafe has all the classic traits of a homely spot to spend an afternoon at, reading spots, large windows, a wall of ads and brochures, hardworking baristas knowledgeable about their craft, a nice variety of beans, coffee artillery on displays. I did not try the namesake coffee, but opted for an in-house latte, which was served up in a very nice ceramic mug. I sipped through it and failed at getting any work done at the window, instead people-watching on busy polk. read more

Came here friday morning before work for breakfast. Inside is a cute coffee shop with lots of small tables. It seems like a good place to get work done. It was decently crowded with a short line when I got there. I noticed a lot of people ordering sandwiches, which came with a salad. Going to the side of the counter to order, I got a vanilla iced latte and canadian bacon, egg, cheese croissant. I also got a cucumber and cream cheese bagel. The drink was ready super fast. Food came shortly after. The baristas were super friendly and provided great service. The coffee was pretty strong. I wished it had a little more vanilla. The croissant was super flaky and was great for breakfast. They were generous in cucumbers and cream cheese for the bagel. Love coming here to grab a quick iced coffee and muffin! For $6 and some change you really can't beat the price. And the ladies are lovely! They always have a smile on their faces and ready to greet and serve when I walk in. Sweet little spot on Polk street that has the cutest, simplest vibe! Was going to the nail salon right across the street (SF House of Nails which I also recommend!!!) and I arrived early so decided to pop by here to grab some coffee. My wife and I just moved into the Nob Hill neighborhood at the beginning of May and we have been looking for a new coffee hangout. In my opinion, Moka Coffee and St. Frank's (I will do a review for them shortly) are the best coffee spots on Polk St. Moka Coffee is aptly named, as they have the best Mocha coffee I have had anywhere in California. They have a standard array of other coffee options, all of which have the great standard that you expect of the Bay Area. What really sells Moka Coffee for me is the amazing interior. It goes for a Mediterranean cafe vibe and I think it works beautifully. I am a real sucker for the music and design of the whole place. I would recommend Moka Coffee to anyone looking for a good hangout/date/study Coffee spot. It definitely is a place you want to sit down and savor in (St. Frank's is more of a pick-up and go place). Overall, Moka Coffee is a great place. Would definitely recommend, especially for Nob Hill natives. read more

The only thing that is slightly inconvenient is the constantly long line to order. On the bright side once you order you get your drink right away regardless of what you order. It's a solid assembly line operation they got going. Especially in my case when I typically only get a bag of beans to-go I wonder if they could change the system to allow me to forgo the line altogether, that would be a pleasant change. On my question if I can have a spoon was short "right there" not even pointing me any direction. By the time I found plastic sticks on the counter in a busy crowd handling two little kids crying for ice cream I was ready to throw it out. What a shame, I don't expect 5 star service but simply splitting ice cream, giving me a spoon or just pay any attention to me as a customer would be enough for those tips that they asked upfront. Lesson learned, never again, although we are in this mall often.

I am a huge fan of this place usually, I come in here all the time and get my coffee the gentlemen that is usually working with the bun is so sweet and always greets me as I walk in, and makes me feel WELCOMED. I walked in this past Wednesday to get my usual coffee there was a different gentlemen working he was not very nice or welcoming!! He took my order (on his phone pretty much the whole time) while making my coffee, then to find out didn't even get my order correct and got an attitude with me when I kindly asked him to correct it. Wish I had gotten his name!! Very disappointing. read more

Absolutely love this place! I come in here to get a latte almost everyday before I go to work. and also Dunya next door is great too if you want to get a glass of wine or even some food! Everyone that works here is so sweet including the owner! Vadi (guy with the bun) he mainly works at the coffee shop but he is my favorite! he always makes me laugh and gets me to try knew things on the menu I usually wouldn't, and I always end up loving it! I cant say enough great things about this place. I highly recommend to anyone! Great atmosphere :) read more

I came in here today thinking it was Royal Grounds...my mission for the day strictly for the free wifi and decent coffee. Much to my surprise, they have been taken over in a big lovely way. Moka cafe is good iced lattes. Free Wifi. Great music. Chill atmosphere. Clean. There is even a floor to ceiling open window for the breeze to come in front of a counter with stools. Awesome spot. The most convenient place to sit and get some work done on Polk Street. It's a nice change from the glossy, sparsely decorated coffee shops that seem to be popping up everywhere. The baristas are very nice and got my large iced latte out quickly. My drink tasted great, and I thought the price ($5.50) was reasonable, especially for the area. For a small shop, there was plenty of seating and electrical outlets. read more

Although the service at "Cup of Joy" was a little lacking, with the cashier being a little stiff, the coffee here is very good. They also have space to sit inside, and outside. And it was a sunday, with this being one of the few coffee shops open past 5pm, for which i am very appreciative! :)
