The most important thing I need to mention is how genuinely awesome the people are that work here. Kind, patient, just wonderful. The service is more than you would expect from a coffee shop. The space at first seems small, until you realize there's a whole extra room of seating in the back. The counter display is clean, neat, and full of gorgeous pastries. I foolishly got almost no pictures, I was truly living in the moment. They are known for a few things, Yemeni coffee, beautiful filled croissants and the fruit shaped entremets you've probably seen in your feed online. As far as I know, they are the only place in Rhode Island that serves these. While you can look at the case, they also have a catalog at the register to help with ordering. Brilliant. I got the Maleki coffee, the raspberry cheesecake croissant and the strawberry delight. The croissant has great flavor. The cheesecake was less sweet and more tangy, balancing the raspberry jam center. My only criticism, because this is held under refrigeration, the texture of the croissant suffers slightly. But overall I enjoyed it. The strawberry delight was exactly that. A delight. The shell was crisp, perfectly tempered. While simple, the filling was very strawberry in a natural but not overpowering way. Balance again comes to mind. Finally, my coffee. A spiced wonder. We came here after dinner and it was perfect to aid in digestion. I chose it specifically for that, because there are descriptions of the different Yemeni coffees and the part they play in their coffee culture. I loved reading and absorbing the wisdom. And in following the wisdom, I was rewarded. I will recommend this place to others to experience all Moka & Co has to offer. And I'll be back myself next time I'm in the area. read more

#willflyforfood #RIfood #dessert we saw @Feed The Cheeks on a must try list so even tho we had just eaten we had to try it out. this location happens to share a space with @moka&co so muxh for thinking we were just going to try a cookie we had to try a pastry too. we were overwhelmed with the selection when we walked in. we took a while to decide on what to get and everything was amazing. the cookie is definitely big enough to share we prob should have done the minis but our eyes were bigger than our stomach. as for pastry I gor the chocolate croissant that also had a chocolate filling which I tried to show in the clip and he had the almond (which was apparently so good he didnt share and I didnt get a pic lol) the chocolate was so big they couldn't xlose the box properly and had to tape it. im glad i dont live closer or i would weight a ton try i ng everything they have to offer. ps dont forget to either ask for you cookie heayed or microwave it for like 30 seconds before you have it being warm really kicks it up a notch read more

I came here the week of Brown University's graduation, so, as imagined, it was packed. I went in knowing | wanted a drink but couldn't resist buying one of their fruit pastries. I ordered the iced adeni chai ($8), my friend ordered the Biscoff latte ($8), and we shared a mango tres leches fruit pastry (~$8). I was suspiciously given my iced adeni chai right away; it was sitting in front of the person taking my order so I wasn't sure if someone has ordered it and left, or if they made a mistake and repurposed it but at least I was able to sip on it while I waited for my friend's drink to be done. After about 20 minutes, his drink was ready and we were able to secure a table outside. We wanted to sit outside since it was cool, but they have a very quiet and comfortable seating area in their lower level. The adeni chai was rich and creamy, with a heavy presence of cardamom which I personally enjoyed. The Biscoff latte was a little too sweet for my taste, but it did taste a lot like Biscoff cookies. It was also rich and creamy. The fruit pastry was not my favorite. The cake was a bit dry for a tres leches, yet, I did enjoy the core which had mango chunks. Although the Biscoff latte did take a while to get, I watched the person making it (and all the drinks before ours) and it looked like he was making each one with care. What a lovely place. The staff is extremely welcoming and answered all the questions I had. The space is warm and inviting. They have so many options full of rich flavors and spices. Not only are their drink, drinks, smooth and made to perfection but they offer a ton of pastries and cakes. They even have a collaboration with feed the cheeks. Not only do they have seating right as you enter, but they have a small downstairs that makes you feel like you're not in Providence anymore. Definitely a good spot to get some work done or have coffee with a friend. We got the Mufawar coffee, a caramel latte, and a discord cream filled croissant. Sooo tasty! Great location right off of Thayer Street near Brown University. Parking is tough in that area, but the cafe has lots of seating and is very modern with lots of natural light. read more

I was pretty excited to see Yemeni coffee available here in RI! Moka & Co is a national chain, but this shop has a local feel because of the local (Arab/Muslim if not all Yemeni) vendors supplying the pastries. I can't say if each of the franchises is run that way, with only the coffee and tea being a Moka & Co product, but that's the way it seems here. Given that this spot is on College Hill, in the heart of Brown territory, I expected parking to be tough, and the space to be postage stamp size - and I was right! That said, they've managed to maximize space in the tiny shop - though there are still a few kinks to be worked out. First, there was a huge line that moved veeeery slowly. There really wasn't a way to easily separate those of us waiting to order from those of us waiting to pick up what we'd ordered. While the few two-tops in the upper part of the shop were welcome, they maybe make the narrow space a bit more confusing. Next, the pastry and coffee display cases (with GORGEOUS and very tasty contents) do not have any labels identifying what we're looking at, so first time customers have to select from an info sheet once we get up to the register to order - and then maybe have to go back through the line to pick what we want. That's the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. The food & drinks here? Absolutely 5 star quality. Down a short flight of stairs you'll find a cozy, beautifully decorated, seating area. There are electrical outlets around so students can sit and work (a mixed blessing because folks will stay long past the time they've finished their coffees). Now for the food and drink review:I had a jubani and my husband ordered a mufawar, both with no sweetener. The cardamom and ginger added great depth to my cup, without overwhelming the delicious coffee and qishr of my drink. The cream added just the right touch a sweetness to his pick-me-up. While the components of both beverages were pretty similar, we loved the subtle differences in their flavor profiles. We went with a snack of 4 Baby Cheek cookies - 2 cookies and cream, 1 each of the chocolate chip and peanut butter. As usual for me with Feed the Cheeks, the chocolate chip had great texture, but not enough flavor. Honestly, the vibes were off. We walked in to an absolutely silent store. No ambient music, the few patrons all absolutely not speaking. It just felt like we had to whisper, it just didn't feel comfortable. There was a line, but the menu of pastries was at the counter so you didn't know what you were looking at until you got up there, which held the line up because people were browsing the menu with pictures. Honestly they all looked old, with condensation on all the frosting. The croissants looked like they were baked days ago and put in the refrigerated case. We ended up getting the cookies, which were from a different company that just sells out of the bakery. The cookies were great but again this was just another bakery! Expensive lattes that rely heavily on syrups and looking pretty. The seating in the lower level looks nice but with so many other options on Thayer I wouldn't reccomend this one. read more

Like im not kidding the people who made my matcha and coffee seriously seemed like they don't even drink coffee/matcha let alone know how to make it! yay!!! a yemeni coffee house in rhode island! ramadan post-iftar fixes just got 1000% better!!! went on a sunday afternoon study break with one of my girls. we got a lemon meringue croissant and it's stuffed with amazing lemon curd. the fruit mousses taste like the fruit they represent, we enjoyed a blueberry. she got the mufawar hot and loved it. i got a lemon mint and the potency is prime. tasted like the streets of amman where they stick a ton of mint from ur grandpa's garden and a whole lemon in there. the service was hybrid, order and sit. if they're not rushed they'll bring ur order to you. if they're rushed, they'll call ur order and there's a cabinet to place dirty dishes. they just opened so they need little name cards for their pastries and little signs around the store telling u where things are. very happy with how they maximized the space and seating. they also still have feed the cheeks cookies for all the fans. will be back for more. read more

I didn't try the drinks, so perhaps they're good. This review is of the rose treat (pictured) -- it's pretty ehh. I wouldn't recommend due to 1) how old it tastes 2) the shoddy consistency of the "mousse" and 3) lack of real crack from the outer chocolate shell. It's just not worth it. Was excited to try this place bc we love Yemeni coffee, and it's rare to find. Unfortunately, the prices are not stated accurately. A small coffee is listed as $5, and a large coffee is listed as $6. However, when I ordered a small iced coffee I was charged $8 plus tax. When I asked why, the sweet cashier couldn't tell me why and guessed, maybe you can only order a large size and ice costs extra. If you care to tip a dollar, then note that an iced coffee will cost you over $9. The cashier has no power to adjust the price or issue a refund. read more

This place is really weird. My mom could not find parking. So she drove around the block while I went in and was planning on sending pictures of what they had to her, so she could choose something. But the owner saw me take a picture and he said, "no pictures allowed" and told me to delete it from my phone. What the heck? I have never experienced anything like this before! I went ahead and still bought something due to the fact that we had already wasted our time driving there, only to find a hair inside of the item. So yeah, I definitely would not go back here. The place itself is aesthetic. The desserts are overpriced though and not worth the price. I did not get to try any drinks but also on the pricier side. I got one of the desserts shaped like fruit, the mango one. It was cute but wouldn't get it again. Staff was fine. read more
