#6 beef flank noodle soup
Wendy W.

This is one of the best and most affordable noodle soups in the SGV (only $12, tax included in price). The menu is all in Chinese, but don't be intimidated. If you want a regular beef flank noodle soup like I did just tell them you want #6. The resturant is very clean and spacious for a quick meal. Beware they only accept cash or Zelle.

Guilin Noodle with brisket
David R. C.

After opening a few days last year and shuttering for months, the Monterey Park branch of Arcadia's Mojie Noodle has finally opened for good. Same set up as Arcadia, but in a sit down format. No table service but you order your Guilin Rice Noodle soup at the counter. Pile on all the condiments you want and take it to your table.

The noodles is super good

Good noodles. Add all the toppings. Beware of the pepper sauce. Chili oil is solid with the rice noodles.

All hits. No misses…read more Not a single dish that is bad. My favorites include the Bok Choy, Pork Potstickers, and the Pan Fried Pork Buns. Pair that with a massive mango green tea and I walk out satisfied every single time. The place is small, so if you come at the peak hours, there may be a decent wait. On the positive side, the food comes out fairly quick and they are very attentive. They're ready to assist at any moment! There's a reason this restaurant has been here for a long time. And I will be coming here for many more years!

We ordered the spicy beef rice noodle soup, Dan Dan noodle, and popcorn chicken. The spicy beef rice noodle soup was flavorful, noodles were al dente, and veggies were cooked perfectly. The only thing was the meat wasn't super tender but still tasty. The Dan Dan noodle was awesome. After mixing everything up, it was perfectly creamy and just the right amount of spicy. It was maybe a little thick but that's my preference so I enjoyed it! The popcorn chicken was apparently one of their most popular items and it did not disappoint! It was juicy, crunchy, and spicy (I got mild but it still packed a punch). However, I wish they didn't give me so many baby pieces as those were purely fried batter with no chicken. Also, I thought prices were fair as the portion sizes were pretty large. Decent place, I'd definitely come back!

I walked into Hengry not knowing anything. My friend had this placed bookmarked for a while and made a reservation for our girls lunch. The interior was vastly different than the exterior and surrounding buildings. Various vibrant modern artwork and velvety seating filled the small intimate dining room. There's a private dining room towards the back of the restaurant as well. Parking was a small lot and a covered garage, shared with a small motel. The food was good portioned. Especially the chili beef and miao sour soup. The chili beef was spicy and had flavors of charred pepper and peppercorns. The Miao sour fish soup reminds me of the Vietnamese sour fish soup, with flavors of lemongrass. We also ordered the sesame Chinese lettuce (celtuce), braised pork belly w/ mustard greens, and sautéed A-choy. Every dish was delicious! Will definitely be back to try other dishes next time.

Like holy smokes, are the chefs on steroids back there? A salute to their efficiency and time management. Family ordered the Thai fried rice, house special fish fillet, pork chop with Peking sauce, and a tofu dish I do not know the name of. The fish fillet was most definitely running the show here. It was heavenly with every bite. My brother and I had to practically restrain ourselves from demolishing the entire plate. Another deep nod to the chef's magnificent craftsmanship. Order this for a taste of no regrets. The servers were absolutely amazing. For a typical Chinese restaurant, it is pretty standard to be served and for the most part ignored unless you needed something specific. However, the servers here were right in the middle of the horrendous lunch rush, and yet they still managed to carry out gestures that genuinely touched me- one of the waitresses waited at the door and held it open for us when my mom returned from the restroom because they could see that my mom had limited mobility. The guy serving us also made sure he was always giving her ample room to move around amidst all the chaos and commotion of the restaurant. Considering the tables and chairs are inches apart from each other too, we were pretty cramped. I asked another worker for utensils later on, and he was genuinely so sweet going about it, patient and smiling. Service here really warmed my heart, which was such a bonus. The setting was probably the most intriguing part. I am not familiar about the history of this particular location, but considering the walls in the hallway had old newspaper articles and images of the establishment from who knows how many decades ago, I would say it's teetering on the edge of being a museum in itself. Makes for a cool peek into history, but the run down building and yellowing, stained walls in the hallway might throw some people off who are looking to dine somewhere that has kept more in stride with modern times. This visit was fantastic from beginning to end, and all the small details really made everything come together into a wonderful synopsis of food, family, and a little extra kindness.

We ordered our usual items: Beef Chow Fun, Fish Fillet with Tender Green, and French Style Beef Tenderloin. Portions were still big and of good value. Luyixian is a gem located in the ABC plaza near the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Garfield Avenue. Luyixian serves a variety of soy-based dishes, regional Chinese comfort cuisine, and Zhejiang specialties. Luyixian is mostly known for their braised pork rice and beef noodle soup. The atmosphere there was nice and the staff there were very friendly. Parking can be found either inside the plaza building or underground. I ordered the braised beef rice. The braised beef rice was mouthwatering! It is like a home cooked meal. The braised beef was very tender and juicy. The beef is served with sauteed cabbage, pickled vegetables, hard-boiled egg, and a scoop of rice. The braised beef rice will taste even better when everything on the plate is mixed together. My dish took about 10 minutes to be served, which is quite quick. So far, my first time dining at Luyixian was a great experience!
