I didnt expect the service I get in US Persian restaurants, but it seems like the Persian restaurants take price gauging to a new level. All the stuff you get for free in the US are charged in every restaurant I have visited in the UK: charges for bread, cheese and herbs, etc. The portions are smaller, the food is reasonably well cooked, and the prices are acceptable. The restaurants are all fairly small including this one. The kicker is this: I order water, they offer bottled water. They bring a plastic water, already openes, and the water tastes just like tap water: and they charges somewhere between 4-6 Britsh Pounds for it!. read more

Dropped in for late tea on Friday night, while staying at nearby hotel. Just asked hostess to give me whatever food she recommended. It was just wonderful. This is a great restaurant. I'm a fan. A beautiful selection of kebabs, bread and dip. The Naan bread is thin and sesame seed coated. Perfect with the shallot blended dip. Kebabs are cooked fresh and served with a grilled tomato and either rice or bread. The rice is beautiful - not dry at all. I have tried the minced lamb and diced lamb kebabs - for my tastes the minced one is better - but only down to preference. It's not spicy, just perfectly cooked. Staff were friendly on my visit - a very broad customer range - really nice to see. I was served quickly and the lady waiting on me was very attentive. I had bread, dip, double skewers of meat, rice and tomato. With a coke and water - all came to £21 - I couldn't finish it. Portions are generous. Will happily return. read more

First time eating Persian food. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The portions were huge! The naan and eggplant dip were delicious, and I don't typically like eggplant. The reason for four stars is that everything had a sour flavor (think limes), and I didn't prefer the flavor. I am Iranian and I know what is the good Iranian food. We went Mohsen because we tried its food a couple of times before and it was fine but a bit pricey. The quality of food was absolutely shocking. It wasn't fresh at all. I asked a member of stuff when we were paying the bill "when do you usually cook the food, he replied, yesterday." I like the 5-star rating on Yelp - 'as good as it gets' is definitely appropriate for this restaurant since as far as Persian restaurants go, there is no better way to describe Mohsen. It's also one of the most affordable Persian restaurants in London, and therefore represents excellent value. A meal for two, with three starters, two mains, bread and a large bottle of sparkling water came to 42 pounds earlier tonight. I have been coming here for years and tried several other Persian restaurants in London. The rule with Persian cuisine seems to be that most reach a fairly good standard, but only one or two go beyond this level. Mohsen definitely fits the bill, and is the first place I take friends who want to try Persian cuisine. The starters are admittedly not first class, but tasty nonetheless (try the olivieh or kashkeh bademjan, my favorites) and go very well with the traditional, freshly prepared bread served here. As for the mains, stick to the Chelo Kebab, and go for either the koubideh (minced lamb), barg (strips of lamb fillet) or 'joojeh' without bones (chicken). The decor and atmosphere is very homely, so don't go here expecting a very chic experience. It's quite like eating in Mrs and Mr. Mohsen's living room, which adds to the familiar and warm feel of the place. read more

Went here for dinner tonight because of the excellent Yelp reviews and I'm happy to report that all the stars are well deserved. It is a small, family owned restaurant. Great service here and they make you feel welcome. The mom even came to our table to say hi and ask how our meals were. The food is more than fairly priced compared to all the other restaurants here in London. The Persian food served here is authentic and wonderful. It's like going to your Persian buddy's family dinner. They make fresh naan in the front of the restaurant to order and it is wonderful with the hummus. I had the bone in chicken and my husband ordered lamb stew. So delicious. Will definitely come back here again. Oh, remember to bring cash as they don't accept credit cards. read more

A must visit place if you are London. This is a comfortable authentic place to eat, so if you are looking for fancy its not your thing. But if you want first rate food do not hesitate. Some of the best Persian food we have eaten (including home made food). The selection is very nice, and there are range of dishes. Don't worry if you are not familiar with the cuisine, it has very subtle and wonderful flavors and a large variety to choose from. Do not forget to try the appetizers. We came across Mohsen's attempting to find the halfway point between my place and my friend's in Richmond. We settled on Earl's Court and I was given the job of finding an affordable, but delicious place to meet. On entrance to Mohsen, one is greeted with the sweet smell of fresh dough being rolled out in a corner. With the feel of a home run establishment, the service was terrific, as our waiter helped us choose which dishes would satisfy the group. We shared mezze and some main courses while d rinking the wine recommendations of my friend's French boyfriend--picked up at the supermarket down the street as the restaurant is bring your own. Admittedly, I'm not that well versed in Persian food. I've only had it three or four times, and my adventure here (with many colleagues) broadened my horizons. You can have lamb a lot of different ways. There is bread made fresh in an oven in the front of the restaurant, which is amazing and tastes even better. There was different arrangements of humus and chutney and other spices which I hadn't had before, which were also very tasty. This restaurant is one of a gaggle of well-priced, bring-your-own-booze West London Persian restaurants. While its inexpensive but tasty fare is relatively similar to Alounak, a similar restaurant across the park in Bayswater, it is much more homely in atmosphere. The family-run place has some of the friendliest staff and amazingly succulent lamb skewers, and a meal there will rarely set you back more than 15 pounds. Outstanding Persian Food by Delightful Family I come from a Persian family with a long tradition of discriminating taste when it comes to authentic Persian food. It was dinner time when we were exploring Kensington. Looking online for a place with GOOD FOOD brought us to this little family run restaurant. As I always do with Persian food, I came to the restaurant a bit uncertain about all the accolades by the reviewers. But the restaurant lived up to its reputation and then some. Starting with Tahdig (rice crust) drenched with yummy Ghormeh Sabzi (aromatic mixed herb stew), I followed with their special lamb dish consisting of a skewer of tender, marinated lamb fillet kabobs and a skewer of minced lamb kabob over aromatic basmati rice. I washed down the delicious food with their homemade, thick and sharp Dough (yogurt drink, which requires an acquired taste) and finished with two cups of fresh brewed Persian tea. A perfectly satisfying authentic Persian dinner! My partner opted for the Soltani kabob, which includes a flattened version of the lamb chunks, equally tender and tasty. Despite the excellent food, the intimate atmosphere, and the fantastic fresh flat bread, we were most enchanted by the delightful family that runs the restaurant. Most of all, we loved the gregarious and ever cheerful mom who clearly is the matriarch in charge. We will definitely come back again and will recommend Mohsen Restaurant to everyone we know. read more

Unfortunately horrible service marred an otherwise decent food experience. I confirmed the price over the phone twice, and there was absolutely no mention of any delivery charge. When it reached however, they tried charging 20 GBP on top of the food cost. I ended up paying close to 40 GBP for a meal for one. Worst part was that when I was arguing with the owner about this over the phone, he yelled to send the food back. What incredibly poor service quality. I don't want my experience to taint others' decisions to eat here, because it may have been a one-off. However, still wouldn't recommend this over other much better options like Sheraz in Southwest London. read more
