After having waffles and seeing that famed Mannekin Pis of Brussels, we decided to hit up a pub for a drink or two before dinner. We came here. The pub is pretty neat, but perhaps geared toward tourists a bit as well. Very clean and modern looking inside. We ordered some beers (they had a great Belgian Chocolate stout as one of the guest beers) and a bit of pate. The pate was also pretty fantastic. It's definitely a good place to stop in to wet your whistle after having a long day out in Brussels. It's a bit off the main tourist area as well, which is nice, but still has a bit of that tourist feeling. read more

Ready to meet some friends in Brussels, we sought out a good beer bar to hole up in in case one or the other of us had to wait. While i'm not much of a fan of your typical Belgian beer, their extensive list and thorough knowledge meant that i could find lots of good things to drink anyway. The place looks almost like it's built into an otherwise abandoned building, but it's modern and comfortable with a sweet outdoor sitting area, and clearly quite popular. Next time we'll get hammered here on good beer instead of going and finding a local townie bar and getting hammered on crap beer. read more

I must have really lucked out with going to Brussels during non-peak tourist season because I never ever had to wait for a table or wait in line for any of the places I went to, Moeder Lambic included. Walked in on a Wednesday evening and had my choice of any table. Very modern, clean, and sleek decor, but with a very relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter was super attentive and informative in helping us chose our beers. Of course, they have a great beer selection and their staff will take the time to talk with you about what kind of beer you want. Btw, the barley seeds they place down on your table are for snacking! Favorite bar in Brussels! Wandered in the early afternoon and the bar was pretty empty. The bartenders were friendly and didn't mind us hanging out and asking them questions about their taps. They were even generous with the samples which was really nice. Wound up getting recommendations for off the beaten path/non-tourist restaurants and they didn't steer us wrong. Fantastic bar in downtown Brussels. We were able to get our Belgian beer fix, and a fancy plate of cheese as well. The waitress was incredibly helpful in picking out beers, and thankfully spoke great English - a relief after struggling with my junky French all day. The cheese plate turned out to be a mixed blessing - some of them were so good, and there were so many different tastes and textures. There was one though that looked like curdled milk, smelled like a garbage dump, and tasted about the same. I'm an adventurous eater, but the smell was just too much! Came to this bar on a Thursday afternoon. Outside it was busy, but I decided to sit at the bar, even though it was empty. Bar has great selection of beers, good deco, etc. But, MY GOD, the server... First, the attitude: it seemed this guy felt he was doing us ( I was with my wife) a favor. He was quite short and at some point got a little condescending because we asked a simple question. It was subtle, but enough... Second: I asked another bar tender a question. I was speaking in English because my wife is American. I could understand their conversation, although I don't think they knew I could. At some point they were making fun of a group of Americans outside. The cherry on top was the Dominican Republic coin I got. It looked almost exactly as an Euro coin. I assumed they got cheated too, but, given everything else... Anyhow, won't be back. There are PLENTY of great bars in Brussels serving good beer. Maybe there are better bartenders t this bar, and we just happened to got the one.... This place has a goooood beer selection with helpful staff who do know their stuff and are willing to spend time talking through the beer menu (they clearly love their stuff). It did seem to have a cool vibe and even though the waiter was helpful I didn't think he was very friendly... Tbh I didn't feel welcome. We stayed for one - both beers recommended were nice and exactly the type of thing we wanted. The prices were reasonable but trying to pay the bill took a while as I was just ignored waiting at the bar. The food menu was simple but the platter looked good. I think if we had stuck it out a bit more it would have been a nice place to spend the evening but we had to head off for a dinner reservation. Really! Basically every beer they have here are served better and cheaper elsewhere. My friend got a lukewarm Faro by a not so friendly waitress. I had something from the guest taps that was more boring than tasty. I get that this is for the tourists not familiar with the belgian beer circus, but the standard is to low to claim being a true beer place. I love this place and the beer they serve! Every time I come here, there are a couple of new guest beers I have never tasted before, and usually of high quality. The staff is always prepared to explain a bit more about the beer and they're very knowledgable. So why no four or five stars? Because of the way they pour the beer... As someone who learned to drink and pour beer in Belgium, I've grown to appreciate a correctly served beer the Belgian way: poured in one smooth movement, one go with the foam knife at just the right moment, a plunge in the sink to rinse off the beer on the outside, and finally get it in front of me on a coaster. For some reason, they get this wrong in so many ways, and it annoys me tremendously: - A glass is rarely poured in one go. The pressure alway seems way too high, resulting in a glass half full of foam and subsequently the need for a second go. And as if the high pressure isn't enough, some even 'milk' the glass (move it up and down, like you're handling udders), resulting in even more foam. - The excess of foam usually results in the foam knife being used repeatedly. - There isn't even a sink nearby to rinse the glass in, resulting in a beer covered and heavily dripping glass in front of you! Especially annoying when you're drinking a very sweet and sticky beer, or a dark beer while wearing light trousers... I can accept a different way of pouring for foreign beers -- I know it is customary in Germany and the Czech Republic to pour a glass of pilsner in two or three times -- but even the Belgian beers suffer this abuse! On top of that, this place isn't the cheapest. For €4 or €5 a glass -- 0,25 l, no pints -- I would expect them to be served correctly. But still, I keep coming back here. The constantly changing guest beers -- announced on Facebook to make it extra tempting -- are too good to miss, even poured poorly... read more

For beer geeks, there are two bars that are musts is Brussels...Delirium and Moeder Lambic. In town for some beer festivals, we saw a bunch of the same beer loving folks here. Great draft selection of lambics and krieks with a number of their drafts rotating so you always have a new discovery when you walk in. A great bottle selection based more on quality than quantity, they cover more styles than they do on draft. Service at the bar was good and the crowd friendly. If you are looking for something beyond the typical Euro lager...this is one spot to visit. read more

Let me start off by saying if I lived within walking distance of this place I would probably end up a raging lambicholic ha (not that I am not one already). I would almost rather come here than drink at my favorite brewery of all time, Cantillon. The reason for that being is that Moeder Lambic has a few Cantillons on cask as well as a killer on site consumption bottle list. Stuff like Drie Fonteinen Millennium Geuze, Cantillon 50n4e, etc etc etc. The bartenders are super friendly and the atmosphere was really cool too.
