My wife settled on the beef stew with stoemp, I had the confit of beef chuck with a side of fries. They were both very tasty, the servings were perfect for normal appetites and the meal came with bread, and salad as well. We really enjoyed it, in retrospect I wish we had ordered a beef dish and something else, both dishes we had were excellent (the confit of beef practically fell apart with my fork) but the tastes were similar. Came here on the suggestion of a friend. There was a queue outside as it was a Saturday evening at around 7pm. I got lucky and only had to wait about 10 minutes as I was a eating solo, and the other people in queue were 4+. Sat down, grabbed a Cantillon on draft, and ordered. The cheese board was fantastic. The mussells were wonderful, and the homemade sausage was unfortunately just okay. Could have done without it as it was dry and overcooked, but very much enjoyed my meal here. We waited in line around 7pm for about an hour and it was well worth it. Just get the beef stew - everyone else does for a reason, and that reason is it's delicious. For variety, we ordered the Belgian sausage, bacon, and potatoes - also yum. Excellent fries, of course. Plus a variety of Belgian beers on draft and by the bottle. Found this gem of a restaurant by pure luck . This was my favorite restaurant in Brussels. I wanted to try a Belgian dish so I selected the Carbonnades Flamandes à la St-Bernardus . This dish consists of Flemish beef stew in which beef and onions are simmered in Belgian ale until the meat is tender. And my goodness was that meat tender! The dish is served with a side of salad, amazing bread, and your typical Belgian french fries . Besides the meat, being filling, tender and delicious. The fries were the best that I had in Belgium as well. I also enjoyed the salad dressing of the side salad. To drink I had a Simple X - a nice refreshing Belgian pale ale. The inside is small, but comfortable. And the service was impeccable. The servers never stopped moving here. I recommend that you get there early when it opens to be seated right away otherwise there will be a line waiting outside . They do not accept reservations. I really enjoyed this Belgian restaurant. We arrived as five adults and five children and were immediately told they wouldn't accommodate us because we had "too many kids." The owner said the only way they could seat us was if we split into five separate parties, which is completely unreasonable. There were open tables clearly visible in the restaurant, yet they still refused to seat us at all. They then suggested we try "a restaurant for Americans," Brasserie des Alexiens, which was closed. You might get a bit of sass from the waitstaff and probably have to wait in line (especially if you show up after 8pm with more than two people), but it's all part of the charm and totally worth it for the food and atmosphere. This was easily some of the best food we had during our 16-day trip across Europe. Nüetnigenough feels like stepping into a medieval tavern, with a menu that seems to change daily, showcasing authentic Belgian cuisine. We were lucky enough to snag a table outside (though the inside is just as cozy and charming), and it was the perfect spot to people-watch. The food was incredible--hearty, comforting, and absolutely delicious. The beef stew was to die for -- we honestly wished we could bottle up that sauce and take it home. The fried Camembert was fantastic, and the cassoulet was equally spot on. For two people, with two appetizers, two entrees, two beers, and two glasses of wine, the total came to just €100, which felt like a steal. And then there's the beer list -- overwhelming in the best way possible. They had dozens, if not over 100, local beers to choose from. This is a quaint little place with excellent attentive service. We went early enough so we didn't have to wait for seats. Pur primary server was a young woman who lived in Brussels for many years, but her family was from the NE part of the US. The presentation of the food items was beautiful and it was matched by the delicious taste. We had bone marrow and venison terrine to start. My husband had octopus and pork belly and I had the duck. Best happen-chance find in Brussels. We were searching for a quaint place for traditional stew and decided to come here. I am still dreaming and salivating over the olives and its been more than a month since we visited. The amount was more than generous. If we weren't passing thru the city and staying in a hotel, I would have packed what I couldn't finish home - but I forced myself to eat every single olive - leaving no room for my main course. I enjoyed the beef stew that I had gone there for and my boyfriend enjoyed the octopus. I also wanted to try the stoemp which was fine - didn't have room for it as the olives decided to take up all my tummy space but I wasn't mad about it. We found this place on Google maps as having traditional Belgian food. When we walked by there was only one (of four) tables outside that was free. Inside was pretty crowded too. We were given a menu sheet which looked like it may change daily. I ordered the duck and my husband had the Flemish stew. We were given a small bowl of salad and some bread to share. The entrees came with an option of fries, mashed potatoes or vegetables. We both liked our entrees, but they weren't like out of this world amazing. I think I was a bit disappointed that the dishes weren't more flavorful.... Like when the duck is served with a port sauce, I expect a very port forward sauce. It had more of just a hint of port. My husband's Flemish stew looked like it would be rich and umami-y, but it was just kind of a basic brown sauce. Maybe my palate is just messed up. The waiters were nice and I liked the beer and wine selection. We spent about 70 euro for the both of us including drinks. It was a nice experience and I'd go back :) read more

Fair warning- if you are not here right at opening, you are very likely not getting a seat. We were there luckily, and god bless, because 20 minutes later this place was packed with all sorts of people. We got the Flemish stew, and I think that's the perfect first meal in Belgium. This place was comforting, cozy, and the art nouveau detailing was gorgeous. It's all no nonsense, the staff just gets the job done and is very polite. This was a pleasant sit down dinner for an overseas Thanksgiving feast. The setting leaned on upscale but was not pretentious in the least, in fact, the wait service was completely welcoming. The traditional Belgian menu could be pricey, but the portions were not without a proper helping of protein. We had Flemish Stew and Pork Cheeks both of which were scrumptious and rich with flavor. Coming from America and first time visitor to Brussel, found this lil gem. The whole restaurant was booked and reserved but the waiter was nice when I told him I really wanted to try their food. He actually accepted and sat us outside sitting area. Really nice vibe and good customer service. You can tell they care more about service versus number of people they serve. Got beef Flemish stew and pork cheeks with bacon and it was delicious. Beef was extremely tender and melts in your mouth. Fries good. Broccoli vegetables was ok, nothing new. You must, must, must visit Nuetnigenough for incredible beer, food, and intimate dining - you must, must, must make a reservation, though (or at least, I'd advise it). Nuetnigenough is small and inconspicuous. If you're not outright looking for it, you might pass it without a second glance. However, you'd be remiss to miss out on the incredible food and beer that awaits. I can't recommend the Flemish Beef Stew enough. It's the ultimate savory, tender comfort meal you need to bite through the autumnal chill and gloomy skies of Brussels. But heck, I'd eat it even on a sunny summer day because it's just THAT good. We also shared some delicious shrimp crocquets as a starter. These were very tasty, as well. While the Flemish Stew was the preferred main course at my table, the table next to us ordered the meatballs - and BOY, did those look and smell delicious! So much so that I quickly befriended the woman eating them and later accompanied her to another bar. She was from Manchester, and said she comes to Nuetnigenough for the meatballs every time she's in Brussels. The beer selection is incredible - definitely worth a visit just for a special bottle of something delectable. If you want a memorable, filling, delicious Belgian meal, this is the place. read more

First time in Brussels and I wanted to try some authentic Belgium food. This place came highly recommended and was walking distance from our hotel, so we decided to check it out. Upon arriving, I noticed that it is very small maybe 15 tables in total, so it was important to have a reservation like I did. We were greeted by a friendly server and immediately seated. They have a great selection of beer and for someone like myself who was not the biggest beer fan our server helped us a lot with our selection, including giving us tasters, and I chose a sour which was quite good. I ended up going with the traditional stew and my sister got the pork belly and sausage. Minus the need for some salt, I thought the stew was pretty good. The beef was very tender and the sauce was thick and nice. It just needed a little more flavor. My sister enjoyed her pork belly and sausage as well. Now the highlight was the fries. The infamous Belgium fries. So amazing! Crunchy on the outside but light and fluffy inside. That I really enjoyed, especially paired with their mayo. Overall, if you want to try authentic Belgium cuisine then this place will give you a great representation in my opinion. read more

Out of the 3 dishes we ordered, the best was the veal meatballs (7 euro) that was very moist and flavorful. The other dishes (the Flemish beef stew) was tender but a bit under seasoned. I came here because of the awesome Yelp reviews. I was lucky enough to get a table for 2 when there were several parties of 3 or more waiting for tables. This place is quite small but has a unique decor inside the restaurant. I was able to order some tasty dark Belgian beers while observing the menu. These guys were so busy and didn't have enough people working. When I finally got to order I thought that I ordered a pork chop but comparing to the pictures came out very different. My receipt only says "Suggestion 8." I food was good but was surprised that it looked pinkish as in USA all pork dishes are cooked well-done. The food was good and the service was friendly. For dessert I had a molten lava cake with a scoop of ice cream. I was please with the food, beer selection and friendly service. My only complaint that the service was slow. Four stars! read more

We were lucky to have only waited a few short minutes for a seat in this very, very small restaurant. There are a few seats outside, but today it was so cold, and windy that they were not serving any tables outside. If you feel uncomfortable sitting so close to the table next to you, I wouldn't eat here. You are literally inches away from the table next to you, and where we were sitting was next to the bar, where everyone that was waiting for a table congregated. (Which was very uncomfortable having butts practically in your face) Waiter seems frazzled trying to get everyone served. I ordered a glass of their house white wine. I would spend a few extra dollars, and buy a better tasting wine, as the house wine is on the vinegar side. But the Authentic Belgian food was delicious with good size servings. Tiny spot we happened upon while walking around Brussels. Was a 45-minute wait for two of us. Neither of us drink beer which I know is a travesty when in Brussels, but they didn't have ice for my gin. However, the guys working there are fantastic and keep a lively environment. Food tasted delicious, BUT my pork was super super rare. I couldn't eat half of it. I thought I ordered the pork chop, but it came out in medallions?? I generally will eat rare meat but for pork - not sure raw is ok and seared in the outside. The cheese croquettes were good and the beef stew was good.
