Honestly I'm very disappointed. The place is pretty, located at the heart of the grand place. The food is good. I got the cheese and salami mixed plate and my friends got muscles and beef stew. The food was pretty good and some of my friends loved their dishes. I got something simple so it was ok. What I did not like was the demeanor of the waiter. He was cordial but he could not care less. We ordered and he dropped a basket of bread on the table with some butter., which was great. But we were not sure if it was for a meal or for the table. All the menus we got were not in English so we were not sure and they didn't tell us... So once the food came we ate the bread. We assumed was for the table but would been nice to know if it really was as we were all friends and didn't wanna eat someone else's stuff like that. Also another thing, when they dropped the food they just dropped anywhere... So my food ended up in front of someone else... and we only had 3 adults so it shouldn't be that hard to know what meal goes where. He also tried to convince us to go inside to eat... even said it was about to rain... it wasn't and it did not.... He prob wanted to make it a little easier since everyone else outside was just having drinks... I get it but annoying and it seems like he checked out from there. I think that the service was the only set back here and I think it would be a very good place if the staff was a little more caring. Other than the service everything was pretty good. Europe 2023 - Belgium We arrived late to Belgium and La Rose Blanche is on the Grand Place, a beautiful plaza surrounded by beautiful buildings buildings. It's a must see at night. FAST Food: I asked the waiter what he suggested and he said the typical meal were either the mussels or the beef stews I chose the stew. The beef was fairly tender and the sauce had a sweet taste to it, a bit small but the Penne was large and amazing, I helped finish that off. The fries were amazing and served with a mayo sauce. Atmosphere: Lots of locals and travelers enjoying themselves. Service: It was late so we closed the place down but everyone was super nice and service was excellent. Tip: it was cold so outside was out of the question but I bet it would be amazing to sit outside. read more

I was on a short, solo trip to Belgium, and I was staying in Brussels and exploring a different city each day. This day, I decided to check out the main plaza and try a new restaurant I was wanting to eat traditional Flemish food, and for whatever reason, this place seemed like a good bet. It was very crowded in the summer, so I had to choose based on what was available, no wait, and what "looked good". After an hour's walk, and checking countless menus, I ended up here, and with no regrets! I ate outside to enjoy the sunlight and upcoming sunset. I didn't feel odd to be alone, and I was not treated worse for being a solo traveler. I was given a nice corner table on the patio, an had a fantastic view of the square, and got to people watch my whole meal! The food was delicious, and it was not an overly large portion. It as enough to stuff me but let me walk comfortably back to my hotel! I got a Flemish chicken stew, in a white creamy sauce, and it was divine. I couldn't tell you what was in it- just meat, potatoes, and this amazing sauce. I ate everything! The price was reasonable, especially for a busy city center at the height of summer on a weekend. It was one of my favorite meals in this country- although, I have to admit, every meal was "my favorite". Since it is so centrally located, I had a very short walk to see some famous sculptures, murals, and just explore! read more

I should have know better than going to a " tourist trap " restaurant right in the heart of the square. The onion soup was absolutely THE WORST thing I've ever been served in my life . cold ( literally) and tasteless . Server work hard , but typical of Europe , it was just dismissed with a stupid look . read more

This restaurant is located at the majestic Grand Place. We were fortunate to get a table here without a reservation as the square was very busy that night. We were seated in this rustic yet cozy two-story restaurant that has a fireplace and a bar. We were greeted and seated by an older bald gentleman that was quite a character. I was with a large group and we ordered wine and appetizers to start. We ordered the shrimp croquettes and the parmesan croquettes. I was not impressed with either one. I ordered the steak with fries and salad. The place was busy and the service was slow but he brought us bread to hold us over until the food arrived. The steak quality was good but it was not seasoned at all. The fries were hard and were not salted. My colleagues enjoyed their plates more than me. Although the food was not great, this place is in a fantastic location, the restaurant is very cool and I enjoyed the service albeit, slow service. Three stars. read more

The location is of course perfect. If you don't mind sitting outdoors on a patio and right in the middle of the famous Grand Place of Brussels along with many people, tourists, and all. This is really why I picked it as there are literally a dozen choices around this square. I tried the traditional Belgian dishes, I tried beef-stew, the beef was tasty and the broth was very thick and felt like a better dish for cold seasons. Today, however I still enjoyed it and I'm happy I tried it. The Belgian Blanch beer was very smooth. The service was very good. Pleasant server, speaking perfect English. BTW, they have English menu which is very helpful. So, I give them a 3 star all around. It was a long day of walking, and I was really hungry. Walking in, I knew this was a super touristy spot, but it had a nice menu. Yes, the items are a little over priced. It's a beautiful restaurant, overall. Quite lively - even later at night. Although I found the servers to be a little rude. I had the chicken stew with the cream sauce (super heavy, and worth every calorie!) and my friend had something I do not recall. We both loved the meal, and the atmosphere. Okay, this place is pretty pricey, but it is something that I have come to expect considering that it is located in the Grand Place. Actually, there aren't a huge number of restaurants around here, but that has a lot to do with the buildings having other uses. However this is a pretty cool place to have a meal, namely because it is located on the Grand Place, so you get some pretty impressive views. My brother ended up having the chicken pie while I had some Flemish stew, but then again that was one of the main things that I ate while in Belgium. They also have some indoor seats, but the thing is that while you can sit inside, the outside, especially on one of those really nice days, is so much better. read more

La Rosa Blanche is a quiet restaurant located in the Grand Place with excellent food. The place is dimly lit and looks like an old tavern converted to a nice restaurant. In terms of the food, the Jambonneau was excellent. It had a very sweet external glaze. There was a substantial chunk of meat that you could basically pull off the bone with a fork. The second time I went there I had the cod made in white beer, which was also outstanding. Finally, the service was quick and professional. I highly recommend for visitors near the Grand Place. read more

A surprise find on the plaza in a dense tourist location. It's quiet and intimate inside, with multiple floors. The food and beer selection area pretty varied. Our group had muscles (deemed enormous quantities brought in a pot to each person), and rabbit casserole (pretty good though a mix of tender and tougher meat - good quantity, 3 separate sections). Bread before the meal as well. Waiters were plentiful, quick and efficient. Communication was fairly easy and they had menus in different languages (posted on the outside as well). A good meal and break in a normally crowded location - a win. read more

Didn't have high hopes for this place as it's smack dab on the square at the Grand Place. But the prices were not too inflated despite the beautiful location. The mussels were large, fresh and plentiful. There are better values in Brussels but if you want to eat in the Grand Place you could do much worse. A belgian restaurant situated right in the Grande Place. It has to be a tourist trap, I mean, how could it not be? At least that's what I thought the first time I went to eat at this restaurant, being invited by my boyfriend's father who visited us in Brussels and loves belgian mussels. Once we got inside, I was pleasantly surprised by how quaint and cosy the restaurant looked; it's very rustic and antique, almost like something you'd expect when imagining a tavern from the XVIIIth-XIXth century. The restaurant itself has two floors, and it is quite enjoyable to eat a nice meal while looking at the crowds of tourists going to and fro the Grande Place. Eating outside is also a good option when it's sunny outside, if you don't mind the noise. The food is good. Not the best food I have ever eaten in my life (that would be my mother's cooking), but it's certainly worth the money. The caramelised porc thigh is amazing both by size and taste, and the vol au vent à la Bruxelloise is a personal favorite. My boyfriend adores their mussles in white wine and cream sauce. The only thing I'm not very crazy about is how long it takes to be served. It is a busy restaurant, often crowded, making this place anything but ideal for people who are famished after spending an entire day sight-seeing and shopping; if you're an impatient person, save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else that is less stuffed with people, otherwise you'll feel like the waiters have forgotten about you (specially when you notice other tables that came after you being served much faster!). We had a horrible experience at lunch this week. We ordered one pot of mussels to share. He brought two and made it clear it was our tough luck. Mussels were ok, frite ordinary. He disappeared and finally another server cleared the food after a lengthy time. And this takes into account the measured European pacing. Ate here the last night i was is Brussels, and Wow was is a great last meal in an amazing city. The patio view is as good as it gets, with the view of the grand place, but enough of the view. The food was absolutely fantastic. The French onion soup was awesome yet all of our entrees were terrible and over priced. Staff very unfriendly as well. The most delightful experience. We chose this restaurant based on the location, Grande Place, the menu posted outside and the ambiance. We were not disappointed! The food was tasty, the prices were reasonable and the restaurant gave us a warm and cozy feel. The only problem was...it was right after the recent terror attack in Brussels and business was slow. But because of this our server, who has worked at the restaurant for over 30 years, was able to spend time with us and entertained us with many stories. One of the best experiences of our trip.
