You can't come to Brussels without trying Moules-Frites (Mussels & Fries). We decided to visit Chez Leon to indulge in this popular Belgian cuisine. I'm a big fan of mussels at home, so I knew that I'd enjoy them here. We tried the pot roasted Mussels, which is kind of traditional, the fried Mussels (En friture) served with tarter sauce and the Mussels baked with butter, garlic, tomato and cheese (Moules Provençale / Provençaalse). The latter were truly superb. I'd never tried Mussels this way before, but I thoroughly enjoyed them paired with crispy, golden fries and a crisp, chilled beer. The wait staff was welcoming and friendly upon entry. Once seated, the wait for service was a bit slow to start, but it was pretty busy. The atmosphere was pretty energetic, but also warm and comfortable. I recommend checking out this Chez Leon when in Brussels.

Recommended by my hotel, Chez Leon was all that and more! It's a big spot, but looked really small when I first walked in - it wasn't until I used the bathroom I realized how massive the restaurant is. We were seated near the front and provided menus right away. I ordered a tripel and went with a lunch option where I got a salad, entree, and dessert. I ordered sausages for my entree. My salad was amazing, my sausages were amazing, and my dessert was amazing. Oh yeah, and my tripel was amazing. Chez Leon was good start to finish. I hope to visit and eat there again someday.

Was recommended the spot from a local and I'm so glad I decided to try it out. I had one of the best dinners on my trip for an amazing price. The waiter knew exactly how to help me as a first time in Brussels and what to recommend. The restaurant is big inside, but is decorated to make you feel homey. If you're in the area THIS IS THE SPOT TO TRY!

We stopped by for lunch after a walking tour in the area. I'm so glad I did some research before we sat down because this is a touristy area and there are similar restaurants up and down these streets. This was an incredible meal and some of the freshest mussels I've ever had. We shared the mussels and a salad and I wouldnt recommend the salad but the mussels were so good!! Service was quick as theyre used to having a lunch rush. We sat inside and its very cozy inside.

I came here while visiting Brussels since it was number one spot to visit and when we passed by the lines were out the door. To start with the service wasn't great , they were not friendly and welcoming at all , it honestly felt like because we are Americans I couldn't help but noticing how they were with other non American people . The food , was ok nothing special. The mussels with Parmesan cheese, and for entree the famous beef stew. It was a little tight and uncomfortable to have a set shoulder to shoulder with other people ( mind you I'm small and it felt super tight) .

This restaurant was recommended to me by a local in Brussels. I certainly thought it was worth trying, but I wouldn't necessarily come back. The food was solid--I loved the fried mussels and dressing in the Chez Leon salad. I personally preferred the plain mussels over the mussels topped with cheese. However, both service and ambiance were severely lacking. We were seated next to a table full of extremely loud toddlers and were unable to enjoy a relaxing lunch break. The staff seemed to be overly busy, bustling about everywhere and often neglecting our table. It just felt extremely chaotic.

Great food, i would say that the best mussels in the zone. The sitting pretty good,. Space between table good enough to do not feel uncomfortable. Even being so busy the service was really good and good timing. I learned that this one doesn't have to do anything from D' Leon in Paris. Both are great.

Mushroom toast, mussels, cheese croquettes, and Leon beer of course!

We came to Chez Leon for my husband's birthday on a recent trip, and it was one of the highlights of our time visiting Brussels. This place is an institution, and I totally see why! They have an extensive menu and do have some vegetarian options as well. He ordered mussels (a must), and I had the vegetarian toast. Both were amazing, and washed down well with their house beer. We will definitely be back if we are ever back in Brussels! We had a great time and were very impressed with the outstanding service.

When In Brussels you have to try the mussels and these were very good. The white wine. Sauce was tasty. Sitting outside was very nice and the house beer Elias delicious.

Been waiting so long to try this place! Got reservation but you could walk in if your party was 2-4. Very organized kitchen and fast paced restaurant. You sit, you order, you drink, you eat and You are out! Loved the service and the vibe of this authentic place. To be honest there were more item we wanted to order but we were full. I ordered their signature garlic pesto mussel, fried. Calamari and Mixed fish plate! All so Gooooooooood! Since I came back I ve been searching to find the place like them in OC. Pricing was reasonable as well.

    Chillin' with some new friends.

WOW!! The service is GREAT!! The food is great and the people watching is great!! It's just a tad more expensive, but nothing major. Be forewarned... although the food is fantastic - the portions are HUGE. We should have shared meals, but once again, the prices fooled us! I encourage you to sit back, share a meal with the most amazing fruits, and a cool beer or wine, and enjoy your time!

We came back Friday night of our trip with additional family members. Definitely make a reservation if coming for dinner. I had to try the mussels this time! We also casually mentioned it was my sister in law's birthday. They later surprised us with birthday dessert! And they sang!! It was such a wonderful celebration. The staff were super amazing!!

While the register states No Cards one of the servers told the table next to mine not worry when they didn't have enough euros. Only a drink menu was provided and the dishes being served that day were handwritten on moveable boards or posted on the wall. I had on my list a couple to try but finally went with the Belgian carbonades à la biere which was beef stew with mashed potatoes in a dark gravy made with beer. The plate was quite generous and much appreciated since I devoured it. I enjoyed the creaminess of the potatoes swirled with gravy but the meat could've been a tad bit more tender. Service was good. I think everyone on the floor stopped by my table for one reason or the other. Ambiance was casual and looked like many people were taking their time over their meals. When finished you need head to the register to settle the tab. I paid in cash. Worth a return visit.

We got there at around 12:30 on a Saturday and it was pretty filled already. I ordered the C'est si Bon combo platter, which included a salad, stoemp (mashed potatoes), meatballs in tomato sauce, carbonnade (Flemish beef stew), and vol au vent (chicken in white sauce). It wasn't bad. It's probably not really for my taste buds because it's so heavy but I'm glad it was a little bit of everything so I at least got to try it. I don't think I could have finished a full size of any of these entrees alone. I liked the beef stew more than I thought I would because the beef tends to be dry, but it was pretty tender here. The vol au vent was creative because the dish normally inside a puff pastry but since this was a sample, they put a miniature pastry ring on top, which was cute and made it less heavy. Hubby had La Dinantaise (assorted duck plate with foie gras, smoked breast, gizzards, rillettes, terrine) served with a salad. I enjoyed the foie gras and duck breast but the rest was meh, but more of a texture thing for me. Overall, the food was okay but if you're looking for a variety of dishes to try, this would be a good option.
