Mussels
Joyce L.

Convenient location in a busy area, but thought this place was mediocre. We ate here because they were able to seat our large party of 10ppl without any reservation. It was a warm summer day and no AC, but I think that's the case for most of Belgium. Overall, food was mid -- nothing stood out or tasted particularly delicious that I'd want to come back. And since it's seafood, it's a bit pricey as well. People rave about the mussels, and I can admit they were decent. But I just had the best buttery garlic mussels a few days prior, so the bar had been set pretty high. I think the lobster paella was also not bad?? Or it's just the lobster, really.

We walked in without a reservation which apparently is not recommended given how popular this restaurant is. Thankfully, we were able to get a table inside. The restaurant itself is very quiet, so it's a great place to have nice intimate conversations. Service was relatively quick. On top of this, we enjoyed our mussels. I'd say that the cream with garlic tasted better than the white wine. We also ordered bread to help soak up the sauce. I'm so happy I got to experience mussels and frites in Brussels!

Only had time for one dinner in Brussels, we had to make it count! Picked The Lobster House after doing some research. Good thing we called in a reservation, because they were super full when we got there! Had escargot and Italian green and red salad for appetizers. Escargot was pretty conventional and the salad was...well, basic salad. Had the sea bass and Spanish paella with fresh 1/2 lobster as entrées. Sea bass was good, albeit a bit small for how much we were paying for it. The Spanish paella though was worth the price of admission! They did not hold back on the seafood for this at all. By far the best dish they had there. Service was good. They were pretty friendly here. Even held our table even though we were pretty late. Only regret is that we didn't get another opportunity to come back since our waiter insisted that we come back. But I would love to come back again if I come back to Brussels.

My first trip to Brussels, Lobster House was close to my hotel and had good reviews so decided to give it a try. Locationwise super convenient and located in old town by the Royal Gallery of St Hubert. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but be warned when you sit outside people sitting next to you may sample. That aside the staff there was really friendly. I tried the half lobster, because how can I not? The flavors were great, but the lobster isn't a large portion. Good thing the sides were there. I'm glad I tried the Lobster House, but next time I think I would pass. There are a lot of places to try in the immediate option.

Lobster House was solid. We checked it out because it had a ton of good reviews. Ended up sitting outside--definitely a bit chilly... :/ The mussels were amazing! Definitely the highlight and 100% worth the hype. We ordered a bunch of seafood overall, and it was good, nothing crazy. The jamón with melon was just okay... probably would've skipped that one. But seriously, don't miss the mussels! It was creamy and delicious!

Thank you Lobster House for a delicious lunch! We didn't have reservations but we were lucky to be seated by the friendly staff. The restaurant is beautiful inside with warm wood and I loved the holiday decorations. The mussels were amazing and are a must order if you visit. They're sweet and tender. The broth at the bottom was incredibly flavorful. Delicious!

The food was DELICIOUS! I had lobster and it was perfectly steamed and so sweet. Eve try one at my table enjoyed their meal. Also, the service was great- everyone was friendly and accommodating and service was fast and professional! I'd come back

Beef tenderloin, and paella

The beef tenderloin and Bay was absolutely incredible. We're from New York City and we've traveled many places throughout Europe. This is likely the best beef I've ever had! Enjoy my traveling Friends!

Beautiful restaurant and incredible service! The seafood was abundant and so delicious, be sure to say hi to Antonio--so helpful, friendly, and welcoming! He was well-versed in the menu and also speaks multiple languages! Definitely stop by if you're in the area :)

I came in without a reservation, but was able to be seated right away. The service was friendly and quick. I ordered mussels frites and a couple of glasses of wine and thought it was very good.

I stopped by Lobster House in Brussels for dinner recently. In terms of food, I had their Mussels with White Wine (Moules-frites). The mussels were really fresh and the wine amazingly complemented the mussels. Overall, it was a solid dish and I'd go back given the opportunity. Note that the dish at this restaurant may be a couple of euro more expensive than other places but it was worth it so I'd give it 8.8/10.

Half grilled Lobster with a few Shrimp and veggies

Ate here twice during our week in Brussels. The two occasions were totally different. The first visit was outstanding and the second visit just average. Therefore a total rating of 4. Our first visit we shared both meals as we do most meals. We had the half grilled lobster served with rice and grilled peppers and the Saint Jacques Meunière (scallops in butter sauce). Everything was perfect. The lobster was very fresh and the presentation was great. There were even two small shrimp served next to the half lobster. The sides were tasty as well. The Saint Jacques was the show stopper. It was outstanding. There were about 5 huge scallops and additional 3 prawns that had been sautéed in a to die for butter sauce. I kept dipping my lobster meat and my shrimp in that succulent sauce. Perfect everything. The second visit was just not quite the same. I think they had more outside diners that were ordering lots of big lobster plates that had their total attention. That was ok. We ordered the once again Saint Jacques but then changed the second dish to be that of a big pot of mussels...Mussels Maison - Of the House(specialty). The Saint Jacques did not have that indepth butter sauce that it did earlier. It actually had almost no Butter Sauce. Seemed to be maybe rushed. The scallops were still very good but the shrimp not so much. A bit overcooked. The mussels were served and they were beautiful. A huge pot and very full. The problem with the mussels were two fold. The sauce did not have much taste and there was not much of it. I had to add salt to bring out any taste in the dish...and a lot of it. Service was great. Prices very reasonable. Would probably return. Recommend that you try it.

A friend and I had lunch, afternoon coffee, and dessert here - and everything was pretty standard fare but high quality and tasty, which is all I ask for. I had the Flemish Stew and it was super savory, filling, and meaty (which is what I wanted after a long day of exploring!) It came with a little side salad (that was nothing to write home about) and Belgian fries, that were similar to the "steak fries" we are used to in the US, but a little thinner. The fries came with mayo for dipping which is an extremely Belgian thing (that I also love and have adopted myself at home). The coffee we had after lunch was Italian espresso and was creamy and delicious. It came with a little mini cookie treat for dipping! We wanted another sweet treat for dessert so we shared the Strawberry Belgian Waffle and it was superb. An extra fluffy waffle base with a scoop of ice cream on top, covered in strawberry slices and whipped cream. So good. Wonderful location, great views, and some standard fare for food (except the sweet stuff!) I'd recommend stopping here for a quick lunch or just for a fantastic waffle and coffee if you don't have time for a full meal.

The mussels was such a large portion and tasted very fresh. It came with fries, which I loved! The kitchen cut our steak for us and served us salad on separate plates. That was very helpful! Our room was large by European standards, quite comfortable, and well equipped. And the service at the front desk, the restaurant, and the M Club was quite good. As Titanium guests, the very tasty breakfast was complimentary and the M Club a lovely refuge w/coffee, beverages, and snacks available 24/7 and in the evening alcohol and light bites including fresh waffles (note that the hotel resolved the issue of a previous reviewer and you now need the correct key card access). Old Town is a delightful pedestrian friendly village within Brussels with many wonderful sights, restaurants, shops that we loved to explore...not to mention the Grand Place and Christmas markets. And the Brussels North train station was a short walk away from which we took a very pleasant train ride to Bruges (I heartily recommend both the train and the town). There were always taxis right outside the hotel - one day we visited the Atomium/World's Fair area and on departure we took one to the TGV at Brussels Midi (since we had luggage). Our waiter took both away without an apology and arrived back a short time later with two new plates. The chicken was now cooked through but the second steak was still rare. We hesitated before sending it back a second time but my friend was only interested in the steak on the menu. When we asked to send it back the waiter began to comment to us in a huff that this steak was what is called "medium-well" but he would begrudgingly take it back. For the record, both steaks were bright red all the way through so his response was unwarranted. The third steak was well done but it was obvious they had cut it in half to make sure and then flipped it upside down on the plate to cover this. Nothing was taken off the bill and no apology for the inconvenience was offered. Very poor standard.

The place does its best to look and feel like a 'wild west' saloon, but take the time to look in more detail and it feels a little cheap and tacky. Nonetheless, the spirit of the far west is there and the menu backs this up with all the expected items, wings ribs, burgers, nachos and tacos. Unfortunately look and feel combined with an appetizing menu simple do not make up for the poor quality of the food. I like honesty and I'll commend the place for adding a small asterisk beside each and every ingredient that comes from the freezers. The downside of this is when more than half the dishes contain defrosted ingredients, including the first half of the burger list. We opted to share some nachos and stuffed jalapeno peppers before tucking into two burgers. Incidentally I opted for a burger where there was no asterisk next to the meat, whereas my partner went for one with the asterisk. No to worry though, both were equally poor. The meat was dry, tasteless and with even less add-ons inside than at any of the main fast-food chains. Needless to say it was a real disappointment. Not to mention the fries accompanying the burger which were shockingly bad (especially when your neighbor is a decent fritkot!). As for the starters, I thought the jalapeno were not too bad (despite their frozen origin), and the nachos tasted ok provided you stayed clear of the dips (they may not have come from a freezer, but the tin they came from was equally bad). I normally refrain from writing a review if I expect to put the lowest grade but seeing more than two stars when looking up this one gave me the impetus to take action.
