We had a disappointing visit today. We enjoy their lunch specials for €12.50. Today we were told that the specials were not being served because it was a holiday. We asked our waiter what holiday it was and he didn't know. Turns out it was a religious holiday and a lot of stores were closed. We pointed to the sign saying that lunch specials were available every day except Saturday-- no mention of holidays. Our meals ended up costing €19.90 instead of €12.50. So met up with desperately hungry US visiting folks who were staying at the Hilton and at 9:45pm, this was one of the only restaurants we could see open in the area. Walking in, there's a huge fire pit, and there were a fair few empty tables, so we got shown to one by the window. The menu is fairly garden variety mix of salads, steak, burgers, etc. and accordingly one diner got the green salad (after being informed by our wonderfully honest and funny server that her first choice, the soup of the day, was that great) and frites, and the other diner got a hamburger (and again, it was super cool that our server checked how he wanted the burger cooked) and then for dessert we got a waffle with whipped cream + strawberries, and all that plus drinks came to a total of around €50. So while the folks enjoyed their two main dishes, frankly the frites and the waffle were a disappointment. The frites tasted super oily and stale and even dunking them in ketchup didn't help with the taste. The waffle tasted watered-down, like cheap ingredients were used in the making of it, and the topping left a strange synthetic taste in the mouth. So while everything else was fine, I would def be wary of the frites, and frankly avoid ordering the waffle all together. A shout out to our service however, as the waiter was super helpful and kind and had a great sense of humour. read more

It's good. It's solid. Brussels Grill is a soft steakhouse chain (not to be confused with Boston Steakhouse, although they have a similar layout) in Brussels that serves as a nice buffer between fast food and high class restaurant. It's a nice casual in between, for people who abhor fast food chains and want to eat at a moderate restaurant. The food is good, everything I've eaten there yet has been well made and tasty. There's usually a nice atmosphere, sanitary is clean. It has never been a miss, so I do recommend it. Next to a restaurant, you can also go there solely for drinks. Their cocktails are quite nice. You know what? This is my first staple when it comes to Brussels catering. The bar itself offers enough seats for two or more people and is nicely furnished. Here you can get among other things tasty burgers, steaks or salads with chicken breast. The dishes are adequate, filling and tasty. Prices reach normal high, usual for big cities and restaurants close to points of interests. Came here to have an early dinner with a friend on a workday that was blisteringly hot. The windows of the establishment show that there's air conditioning inside, but either it's a blatant lie or it was broken on the day we went, because it was just as hot inside as it was outside. The staff was generally friendly but, apart from one waitress who was doing a great job, found them to be rather slow and unresponsive (perhaps the heat was getting to them too?). So it took us a long while to get just the menus and place our orders, and even longer to get our food. The food itself was OK. Nothing really special (except you get big portions for a fair price). And our waitress was really nice despite being the only one running all over the place to help people out (she's a true gem!). Not sure if I'd go back, unless there are no other possibilities and I'm not pressed for time (like I would if I have a movie I need to go see quickly thereafter). read more

Visitng Brussels and thought I'll find some steak for the night and this place pops up... 5 stars for the location 3.5 stars for the ambience 3 stars for the food 2 stars for the service 3 stars for the prices As you enter there's the usual sign, "wait to be seated" no one acknowledged me until I made eye contact, other people that came after me kinda knew you can sit yourself so they went straight ahead. Once I got seated the server didn't even ask if I'd like to start with a drink...she left and came back after 5 or so minutes. After I ordered the beer which was poorly poured, she left and didn't come back to take my order until I asked her. I ordered a steak that was medium and less than 10 minutes she brings me a rare steak...I then tell her I requested a medium and she takes the plate back to the kitchen. Less than 5 minutes later she brings it back and it's alright, not a €19 kinda steak. The steak is bland and they rely on the sauces that they add on the side for it to taste. Sometimes a nicely done steak tastes fantastic with just salt and pepper with little to no spice to it. I will not return even if its the last open restaurant in the city, too many options around it to not get value for your money and above all not get a good steak from a steakhouse. read more

Generally speaking the food was good, my grilled salmon could have been more flavorful and should have been paired with a vegetable. Everyone else at our table seemed satisfied with their entrees. What spoiled the experience for us is the snooty and snarky waiters. Too bad, the restaurant has an eclectic atmosphere and should have been a fun experience, instead our table of six all felt the aura of "assumed" superiority from our Swiss/German waiter. read more

We went there as a family of 4 for a good meal, but the atmosphere was horrible and the service incredibly bad. The waitress brought us the wrong drinks twice and quite rudely insisted that we were the ones at fault and not her. She then proceeded by ignoring us for the rest of the meal.
