He's learned his multiplication and division tables, rounding to the 10,000's, perimeter, area and today he learned fractions. It's only been 8 weeks. We signed up for another 8 weeks. I looked up many tutoring centers in the area and decided on CEC. I signed her up for AST twice a week. Within two weeks she was starting to get it and even got an 85% on her math test - which before she averaged 70%. She had so much more confidence with math and the staff, especially Mr. Brian worked around her busy schedule. The founder, Karyn, her brother Kyle, and all of their amazing tutors continue to impress me with how incredible their teaching techniques are. What I love most is that they truly take the time to understand each child's individual learning needs. They offer one-on-one tutoring as well as small-group tutoring, making sure each child gets the attention and support they need to succeed. My girls have been coming to Ready Study Go for about four years now, and honestly, they have been a lifesaver! With my crazy work schedule, I don't know what I would have done without them. As a current student, I would like to honestly say that Whitney is not that great. Yes, Whitney…read moreboasts the title of "6th best school in the nation" but this is just a title that was achieved from its brilliant students, not the school itself. I have been constantly frustrated at Whitney's limitations- how they do not provide you opportunities and how they do not let you bring about change. They only offer the basic required curriculum. I don't get a chance to even choose the classes I want. My friends have been forced to drop their art class, language class, sports-simply because they "do not have space" or there is no other class available. They also do not offer other classes- they've dropped so many classes. Some teachers are okay, some others are... not the best. A few do not even bother to teach well. There is a lot of rigor which is good for the students, but most of the time, the rigor is unnecessary. The school has fundraisers and receives donations. Where has all this money gone? To classes for the students? To improving the campus? No, they've all gone to the public multimedia center. It's great-sleek, shiny computers and a stage with fancy lights. However, our bathrooms still have broken locks and not enough soap or paper towels. And, of course, not a variety of classes to choose from. I really do love the people here. Everyone is friendly and inviting- teachers and students. We are a tight-knit community who get to know each other and build memories together. The school, though, is disappointing.

The staff think the kids can't remember or won't repeat what's being done at school. My son has went to this school for 2 years & since day 1 he has experience different treatment than the "white kids" receive. Most schools -- Hopkinson, Rossmoor, Lee -- truly live up to that reputation. But parents need to know: Weaver Elementary, under Principal Dr. Schmidt and teacher Colette Sullivan, is not safe for children. Here's what happened to our kindergartener. For three weeks straight, he was removed from Ms. Sullivan's class and left alone in the principal's office for hours every day -- without our knowledge. He was not disruptive. His only "offense" was not finishing assignments. Instead of being supported, he was dropped in a chair with no desk, no guidance, and no instruction, while his classmates learned. We only discovered this because our child became so fearful that he broke down and begged us not to take him to school. The secretary confirmed the routine, and Dr. Schmidt himself admitted it happened multiple times and defended it as acceptable. The school kept no records and never notified us. Think about that: a six-year-old child, abandoned daily, completely unsupervised. Imagine the damage to his trust in school, his sense of safety, his joy of learning. For weeks he sat silently, terrified, while we thought he was in class. When the district was alerted, the superintendent investigated and disciplined both Dr. Schmidt and Ms. Sullivan. That discipline alone proves how unacceptable their conduct was. Yet, shockingly, both remain employed at Weaver, still responsible for children. This was not discipline. This was not education. This was neglect. And it happened under the direct leadership of Dr. Schmidt and Ms. Sullivan. After transferring to Hopkinson Elementary, our son's experience was completely different. Principal Garcia and his new teacher welcomed him, supported him, and restored his love of learning. He is thriving again -- proof that Los Al schools can be extraordinary. But Weaver is not. The leadership failed. The teacher failed. But I'm glad the superintendent's discipline did bring accountability but it won't bring back the damage that it did to our child. Parents deserve to know the truth: Weaver Elementary, under Dr. Schmidt and Ms. Sullivan, is not a school you should ever risk sending your child to. Until there is a complete change in leadership, avoid this school at all costs. Do not make the mistake we did. Do not send your child to Weaver Elementary.

She then went on a hostile rant defending her staff, but I just want to know about the people counseling my kid. Grace Delk is mentally and emotionally broken and gas no place in a setting that counsels children. BTW, Grace is not used to dealing with substantive questions from parents, as the only other parent questions were: 1. Who are you? 2. Will my special ed kid get to socialize with the 'normal' kids? Pathetic, which is why Grace Delk is herself, pathetic. A mental health professional? Absurd. If she really felt offended or that my question was hostile, she would have tried to diffuse the situation. Instead she answered emotionally. This is the darkness in the heart of man, which Joseph Conrad wrote about most eloquently.
