I came in to get a SNS dip powder mani & I left with a hot mess of nails. The nail tech left my nails with polish all over my fingers and left lumps and bumps on my nails. My friend and I both told the tech I noticed lumps and bumps, but she told me it was because of the shape of my nail. The management refused to refund me for the service despite all of this. I'm really upset that I even have to write this review because I found a nail tech here that I really liked. I live FORTY minutes away and would have returned because of the tech. But based off of my missed and THEN stolen item I won't be returning. I have a lot to say and if you have a missing item at this nail salon: BEWARE. First visit: I came here a little over a month ago for my with my girl friend at 6:30. I saw the reviews about the nail techs rushing during their services, but I didn't think much of it since my friend highly recommended them. I showed up 6 minutes late to my appointment, which I apologized for and I had two techs working on my nails, which I was fine with. They closed in an hour, so I understood. However, that night, an hour after leaving all of my polish started coming off, there was bubbling on my nails and every single one was uneven. It looked terrible. Second visit: I called them the next day after my services and the young lady at the check out counter knew who I was since we left at the same time the night before in our vehicles. I made an appointment with Iris (a suggestion from my girl friend). Iris did a great job on my nails. I got an almond shape instead and I got a nail design which she did an awesome job on. She should not be attached nor associated with this review! They charged me $30 for the nail design, but did not charge me for the polish change and reshape. I feel like $30 is a little steep for someone who spent over $100 the night before and tipped accordingly. During my second visit I left my teal mermaid Starbucks cup there. I was trying to track it down and realized I left it at the nail salon. I called them a few days later and they indeed confirmed that it was there and that it would be at the front desk. I told her I would be back to pick it up and that I lived far. ***AGAIN, this young woman knew who I was.*** I called a week later (October 6th to be exact) to schedule an appointment with Iris. About a week had past since I last confirmed that my cup was there. When I inquired about my cup, she said "Oh we don't have that anymore. When stuff is left here for a week or longer we either give it away or throw it out. Yea, we threw that away." I replied "You don't have it anymore? You threw it away? Why would you throw out a Starbucks cup?" This was not a sheet of paper or a disposable cup of any kind. It's not something you just throw away. I let it go because it is merely an item and how was I supposed to track down who took my cup? Do you have any signage in your business I proceeded to my appointment. Arriving early and I parked next to the SAME white van I parked next to a few weeks prior. FUNNY because as soon as I was about to get out of my car and walk into my appointment, I saw an identical cup in the cup holder in that white van I KNEW she drove. So why would you feel okay taking someone's items? So I took a picture of my cup sitting in this woman's car as she peeked behind the counter and I left. I'm someone who has worked in many different establishments in many positions. My ENTIRE professional background consists of customer service. I'm friendly. I tip well. I value people's time. My boyfriend runs an entire restaurant in South End. This is NOT how you treat your patrons. Instead of going in heated and raising hell, this is me being nice about my item getting stolen. I went across the street to the nail salon directly behind the Publix at 6:45 and he gladly did my refill and I tipped him extra for getting me in. Do better. read more

Just want a refund to go to a place that can do a basic pedicure. They refused to refund. So I'm just spreading the word about their bad service so no one else's wastes their time and money there. This is a place you go when you're in a hurry. Their work has been good the past few times I've been but for their price (prices were around $33 basic pedicure, $43 acrylic tip with gel, $23 basic manicure) I wish they would SLOW DOWN & let you enjoy it. My person was working in triple speed (which may be a policy push down from management). The place was not packed. My entire pedicure was complete in 15 minutes. I don't think there was a time both of my feet were even in the water at the same time. I will have to re-do my heels as the pumice stone barely touched my feet (& they aren't even bad, it was just form lazily & rushed). I don't find nail salons relaxing so this just made the process even worse for me. I wasn't even offered a drink nor would I have had time to even lift & drink it as my person was working so fast. Downloaded yelp just to leave this review...went in for a gelX removal. They did the gel x a few weeks prior and did a great job. I asked for removal today and that cost $10.00. The manager asked if I wanted just the removal or if I would also like a manicure. I explained that I'd appreciate the nails looking natural and not terrible after the removal, so if that meant a manicure then I would like that. I'm not sure what the difference would have been had I just had a removal, but my nails look and feel terrible, with not all of the gel x even remotely removed. They clearly saw that I was not a high paying customer and decided I was not worth their time. Spent $40 for a "manicure" which apparently meant a poorly done nail filing. The nail tech told me to go wash my hands and when I returned to my seat my items were moved and a different customer was sitting in my seat. I did not even know I was finished given that she did not file one hand while she did the other hand twice. I will not be going back as I am highly dissatisfied with my experience. She had an attitude with me the entire time and my nails are so messy, with acrylic being left under my nails and spots being left unpainted. Tina was my nail tech, and boy oh boy did she suck. As soon as she started filing my nails she was insanely aggressive and my nail started bleeding at one point. She also gave me gel polish when I specifically asked for normal polish, forcing me to pay extra. She also gave me attitude the WHOLE TIME. She would give me a side eye when I went on my phone and also when I brought in an outside drink, she made me throw it away completely full because she said it was "distracting her" all while the other customers had outside drinks and the nail tech were unbothered. Currently, my nails are in pain and my cuticles are fiery red. She also missed many parts of my nails were polish was supposed to go and they already look grown out 30 minutes after I got them. I just wanted to thank Mary for coming thru for me today. Last week was my first time ever coming to get service at Modish and the nails that were designed did not last a week. However, Mary who was not the one who originally did my nails, came through and gave me a different polish on the nails that needed it and still added a top coat again to the other nails. Staff was rushing to accommodate the Friday after work surge but if they can't complete a service fully then they should turn away customers or tell them there's a wait. This new nail salon in Mint Hill is super nice. The service is great and prices are reasonable. I have been a few times now and it's always a relaxing atmosphere. I normally get gel colors and never had a problem with the nail color chipping away too early. And this is one of the few spots where I can actually order a beer rather than having to just choose between soda or red/white wine. I don't get my nails done often but I won't be visiting for nail service again. Got my nails done on Tuesday and got gel polish. 2 days later I had a nail chip so I reached out to the business. They told me to come in to get it fixed so I got the one nail fixed. On day 4 of having gel nails I had another nail left up and took a big chip out and then another small chip. I don't know if they didn't get the bottom of the nail or what but gel nails are suppose to last 2 weeks. I won't be back! read more

I really like this place at first, but the quality has gone way down hill. Employees are unprofessional to say the least. I've frequently had employees rush my services and not do as good or thorough of a job. Finally I have many times had them mess up my color selection which is always such a bummer they go get it after you tell them and they forget so I started taking pictures and comparing when they finally got it and it was almost always wrong and they don't even check with you. Very bad experience ! I ask for a ped and mani with gel polish. They started the ped at the end they told me that I have too wait one hour to have my refill because there is appointment before me. But at the moment you start to take a customer and start to do the service, it's not professional that in the middle of the service you tell him without other option to wait ONE hour because you have a bad management. Your management is not supposed to be the problem of the customer. And even if you have a problem that's can happen you supposed to find a solution to make everybody satisfied. That can be a discount, an another solution. Your problem is not supposed to be mine. Don't go there if you have a planning, they don't respect their obligation. They don't take care about customer.
