Modesto on ice definitely a fun event for the family. We went on Saturday, there was a lot of people, but it seem like the employees were organizing and very helpful.

I would say for a family night or couples night, this place is awesome. The birthday hosting of actual throwing parties fell short. There was not dedicated workers to any of the parties so essentially you paid to rent a space - $400 you would think there would be guidance or direction like any other place of business that rents parties so this actually entailed longer wait times, walking back and fourth, no explanations and or directions of any sort, not treated of any higher priority from us and a regular customer walking in. So this waiting in line, tickets getting wristbands, going back and forth when a new person of the party comes in, waiting in line again, this pushed our skate rentals back and between 20 kids and tieing laces up put us behind our actual ice skating time which again wasn't described as what it was given (strict ice times) not announcing anything for us to know when it was our time. They gave us a slip with a name shoutout and song which in fact we did not hear happen at all. Never announced when the pizza was coming and dropped it off at the end of our table so it looked like a regular bag any guest would have brought. I paid $5 a walker in advance $30 total when I could have not added on as a prepackaged and paid only $2 each at the door This was stupid to even offer someone who essentially ended up paying you $500 to host my own party at your facility. Not to mention maybe if they did one booking less the tables chairs and guest between all parties wouldn't be so cramped, between chairs back to back from each party people adults were falling over previous session skates being taken off from the neighboring party. Overall The experience of the actual ice skating seemed to be fine, hosting parties - for what you're paying . Should be prioritized a little better in my opinion. Any other actual birthday hosting facilities make the child feel special, you guys did not.

We had the absolute best time! We bought our tickets online and there is a family pack that saves you some money. You can also do the waivers online prior to arriving. The parking was free and in the same vicinity as the ice rink. I imagine when they're super busy people will use the parking garage across the street. We went today & it's been raining pretty much all day today. It wasn't too crowded and it looked like people were celebrating birthdays. There is designated times for each group session. So check online before arriving. Our session time was 230-340pm. We got there a little early and drank hot chocolate in the snack bar area. They also had little areas where you can take photos by a Christmas tree and Christmas decor. After the other session was done they announced for the session to get off the ice and turn in their equipment. Then someone cleaned the ice up and announced for the 2:30 session to get on the ice. We got our skates and we rented two devices to support our kids when they're skating (I don't know what it's called.) we had so much fun skating! A lot of people were falling and getting back up! It was so fun! They also had staff in the ice rink to help people that needed more support in getting up after falling. We can't wait to come back!!!!!!

Modest Ice is the Best! Took my wonderful nieces and Nephews. We had a miscommunication about the time to meet. The management understood and accommodated us so the kids could skate. Thank you, Modesto Ice.

Pretty small in the parking lot of the double tree hotel. The biggest drawback is the ice is horrible they have sessioned skate times and other places will fix the ice between sessions, not here just let the next group on gouged ice see all the kids fall constantly due to grooves in ice. If this was fixed this place may go up a star on the review. Oh ya and the 5 extra dollars for a pcv stand for kids to hold on to.... rip off!!!!

Can we go walking up any time or do we need to buy the tickets online?

Hello Karla. Tickets are available at our Ticket Booth for most sessions. Please note, however, that especially on weekends we have many sessions that become Sold Out early, and in those circumstances we wouldn't have tickets available to sell at… Read more

Once you have your wristband, you will need to stand in another line to get your rental shoes 10-15 minutes before your session time begins.

Thankfully, one Saturday afternoon my son expressed interest in wanting to go skating. We have a skating rink in close proximity to our home; however, it is fairly small and closes it's doors at 5pm on Saturdays. Therefore, we decided to make the slightly longer drive to The Rink. Once the three of us arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly employee who processed the admission and skate rental fees. After my wife and son obtained their skates (I brought my personal pair), we proceeded to locate the lockers for our shoes. We found the automated lockers that costs $5...yes it is expensive for lockers, but I was more concerned that our fairly pricey shoes did not get stolen. Once our shoes were secured, we made our way to the rink floor. I absolutely love the size of this rink, it allows for individuals of various levels of expertise to co-exist in one place. In the past, I have been to some rinks that are so small that you're afraid that you would topple over little people learning how to skate (not saying that it couldn't happen here - it just seems less likely). While skating, I observed something that I have yet to see at a skating rink...parents walking (no skates) on the rink guiding their little ones. I'm not complaining about this, just mentioning it for anyone reading this and wondering how they can ensure that their little ones are safe while skating. This made for a perfect family activity/outing and I burned 522 calories during our 1.5 hours at The Rink...now that's a win-win!

The ice is pretty sturdy, and the railing around the side is safe for all the beginner skaters out there (like myself) who spend the first ten minutes stubbornly clinging to the edge from fear. There's also a lot of bucket towers provided that beginner skaters can use to lean on while they skate. I liked that there were two medium-sized rinks, so you could easily transfer from one to the other if the rink you're on had too many people zooming around. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and overall it was a great experience! (Skate rentals are $5 and entry is $10)

I was thoroughly impressed with the staff and coaches. Everyone here at Oak Park genuinely loves hockey and treats everyone, no matter their skill or lack thereof, with absolute respect and kindness. Now my younger son is here at the rink weekly improving his skills and in the Academy program. Heck, even I've taken to the ice and play the amateur bronze league and I love it. So what about the rink and facility? Well, it's been around a looong time and you can tell. There isn't a huge fancy pro shop, gigantic locker rooms, or a snack bar. What there is though, is a brand new rink put in during COVID that has great ice and very good boards. The boxes are nice and clean. The locker rooms are comfy with new benches and storage. Sure, it's not the greatest rink I've been to but it is a very good rink and facility overall. I've visited all the rinks between San Jose and Santa Rosa and what makes this place different is the great staff, people, regulars, and the new rink. If you're looking to just skate, play hockey, learn some skills, or even just watch, I totally recommend stopping in and giving it a try. Prices are much lower than San Jose, Roseville, or Vacaville and the ice is just as solid if not more so.

The good: very cute place, tons of parking, restrooms, snack bar…read more The bad: no refunds, uncomfortable skates, melty ice. I brought my 2 daughters and 1 friend to skate here a few days ago. Spent $53 for 3 tickets. I had just taken the girls a few days prior to skate at Modesto on ice as we live in Modesto but they were sold out at the time we wanted to go so decided to come here instead. As soon as they got on the ice they said that it was really hard to skate because the ice was very melty and also complained that their feet hurt really bad. They were on there for less than 5 minutes. Mind you they skated 2 days prior at the other place for a full session just fine so it was kind of weird that their feet hurt and wanted to leave. I asked if I could get a refund. They were adamant that I could not and that I could change the tickets for another day. I went ahead and did that but my girls refuse to go back there and keep asking if we can just go to Modesto instead. The supervisor I talked to stated that Modesto uses the same skates and that he recommends wearing thick socks because the ice skates aren't made for comfort. I don't know if that is true or not or if maybe the skates were old or too new but whatever the case my kids don't want to go back. Since I can't get a refund, I guess I'm out $53. I don't think that is right. They should be more understanding especially when kids are involved. I could see if they skated for half an hour and then said their feet hurt but they literally didn't even skate at all. Thumbs down!
