This is the biggest general park in Ripon. It is a pretty large scale park with an upper and a lower area. The upper area has 4 horseshoe pits and bocce ball courts. There is a small kids playground by these courts. Another part of the upper area consists of a large lawn area, which is plenty big for several different sports. There are two baseball diamonds and a medium size playground. The bathrooms are located by the baseball diamonds. Near this area is also a butterfly garden. When you walk to the lower area, there is a large gazebo which is nice for parties. There are two volleyball courts that consist of sand. The remaining area is fairly large and consist of lawn. The park parallels the Stanislaus river and there are several access points to enjoy the water. This park can get fairly busy on the weekends. read more

We love this park, easy tree shrouded trails to the river where you can swim or just sit in the river. When the water is low it only comes up to your knees in most places and deep areas up to your waist. This part of the river is mostly sandy instead of rocky. The city keeps the park well maintained and there appears to a community center along with public restrooms, a butterfly garden, a large gazebo area and a volleyball area. Went on Labor Day and was surprised there were no crowds, especially since there is no entrance fee. You can either park in the park and walk to the river or you can park in a city parking area with paved trails leading towards the river. No BBQ grills or tables near the river but they do have lots of garbage bins so bring your dog, camp chairs and a picnic basket and soak in the natural beauty. read more

Nice and serene walk . Plenty of shade trees and nice walking trails. The only downside are mosquitoes, lots of them . We went early in the morning about 8am. I'd also recommend taking a walking buddy or dog , as the area is pretty vast . There is ample parking protected with large shade trees. read more

I love this park. Great fields, playgrounds for kids, and a new butterfly garden that is a fantastic addition! I just wish the town took better care of this park. The scenery is beautiful in its own way but there is too much dead wood from dead trees that have been there for years. A little beautification here and there can only make it better. Check out the little rose wall on your drive in to the back lot. When they are in bloom its so beautiful. read more

Nice park for playing volleyball and relaxing. Lots of shade and room to run around. Nice walking trail overlooking the Stanislaus River. Bring your own chairs, tables or blankets. There is (unautorized) access to the water but it is very steep and the water levels seems very low. But that doesn't seem to stop people from bbqing and hanging out near the water. Personally I wouldn't go in. (If you want easy access to a river try Mokeleme near the Fish Hatchery off McIntire and 88.) Been here a couple times once for a bday party and another to play volleyball. read more

F- this place ! And it's surrounding neighbors came to enjoy a new place for Labor Day weekend with the family, I had a bad feeling when I seen this lady staring our family down. To our next surprise cops show up walk right up to us and another family that just showed up no BBQ allowed ! When they have nice tables and a whole field set up you would expect it to be an inviting place to spend time and hang out. Decided to check out this park so I can do photo sessions for my clients. I loved the wood vibe. My friend and I were able to go in the trees and take pictures. I wasn't able to view the entire park. I've seen a lot of people use a cement staircase and a really nice fence, but I didn't see any of that in the spot I was in. Park is huge as well! Definitely going back! read more

This is the spot to be this summer! First thing you see when you park all the way down the back of the parking lot to your right Is like a lil area with a bunch of tables,but no bbq grills. next to it is the volleyball which I usually like to play at the end when it's time to leave the water. As you continue to walk down the trail you will see a fense where you can go in to get to the water...so ppl like to swim from a rope and dive in... or let the rivers soothing calm current take you and enjoy. If you decide to continue to walk down the train remain on your left as you will reach a cliff from where I have jumped... now.... listen.....ppl were saying it's deep but when I jumped o swear it must have been about 5 and ahalf to 6 ft deep... not deep! I was a lil upset... I had to run and jump...I for t recommend anyone doing it. You can seriously get hurt. . As you continue to walk theres more sitting areas... it's a very nice calm river... I cant wait to celebrate my bday this weekend there read more

TICKS! Love that this is near by and the trails are easy. Didn't like coming home and finding ticks on us and our clothes. Also the trails aren't well maintained which sucks bc you have to pay to park. That money should go towards something! read more

This is a beautiful park the only reason why I am giving it one star is because on Sunday, March 26 about 2:45 my car and my cousins car was broken into we were at the park to take family pictures because my cousin has been diagnosed with breast cancer and was having surgery on the following Wednesday and wanted her family pictures taken before she goes through her ordeal, some idiot decided it would be a great idea to break into both of our vehicles and steal her jacket an my purse not to mention the expenses we've had to go through to replace our windows and or scratch cars. We do have a police number which is 17-635 I'm asking anybody out there that knows anything in regards to this incident to please report it to the Police department . If you come across any of my belongings once again report it to the police department I had a blue coach bag with a coach blue zipper wallet and a coach blue coins/card holder and $150 cash I am not concerned about any of that I am most concerned about my sentimental things that I cannot get back my adult children's baby pictures our wedding picture, my grandparents pictures and a blessed rosary from their funeral services and so forth please once again if anybody knows anything or has seen anything please contact the police department and that police report number again is 17-635 THANK YOU.... read more

I always like the serenity of this public park. A big plus is how well mantained the park is; with well manicured grass areas, hiking trail that follows the river, game area and several covered bench areas for events. I have yet to find anything annoying about this park, there isn't any gangs or trash thrown on the ground (I know what's the difference between trash and gangs? About ten years in a penitentury) For familys this place is great because the park is big enough that you can avoid areas near the river for childrens safety. There are several areas for people to play various games and vast areas for recreation. The park isn't extremely large but big enough to accommodate a huge number of people. Things you can do; boci ball, horseshoes, museum, hike, bike, climb jungle gyms, play softball, picnic, rent covered area for receptions, study, use playing field for events or games. I feel at peace at Mavis Stouffer Park and I like the fact that its safe enough here; that you don't have a need to pack. read more

I absolutely Love this place!! It has it all!! Everything about this park is amazing. It's one of my favorite places to go to during the summer. There's a cliff on northern part of the park that me and my friend use to jump off of and swim down with the current for a while. If you chose not to jump there was many other entrances into the river as well. There's also this one spot that has a rope to wing off of that spot is popular the southern part of the river is actually a jogging trail. With sandy spots along the river bank. Majority of people during the summer prefer that spot right there. Specially the younger kids since it's well hidden allowing them to party freely and drink. Well other than having a trail and a river the park also has a big shade for group parties, and a playground for kids. Also has sports fields it has four volleyball courts, two baseball fields, and two soccer goals for soccer. In the entrance of the park they also have an area to release your dog and let enjoy the sand. The surrounding area of the park is beautiful too, plenty of parking space I highly recommend.
