A lovely park with a lot to offer! The Dry Creek Trail runs through many parks along the Dry Creek in Modesto. There are miles of trails, both paved and unpaved, where you can stroll, run, and bike. It is very dog friendly too! There are some very nice fenced-in tennis courts, playgrounds, and picnic tables which make for fun for the whole family. If you are into disc golf, there is a huge course throughout the park. Some of the baskets are placed right on the creek's edge, so you have to make sure you have good aim! There are some pretty bridges that overlook the creek and make for gorgeous photos when the leaves turn in fall. At the trailhead at East La Loma Park, there is a large parking lot with parking along the leading road. Even though there is plenty of light along the trail, I would avoid coming by after dark because the area can attract some homeless people. Regardless, this is a great park and community asset! read more

It's a fairly longe trail. Set along a golf course and a creek, so you see some transients. Mostly paved trail. I personally enjoy more of the nature trails but it's nice for a good walk, jog, bike ride.Theres also a playground for the kiddos. read more

Always enjoyed the people and the scenery. My dog loves the long walks on the trail from Claus to Coffee Rd.

Has hidden beauties! The trail is nice for a bike ride! Smooth path and not too much incline! My fiancé and I played a bit of frisbee golf! However most of the disk golf track is overgrown with weeds and grass. Looked like half of the trail hadn't been mowed or maintained in at least a year! Closer to the actual park is more kept up. Along the creek we did find this older man who seemed to be intoxicated SCREAMING at people who were trying to enjoy their time at the park. We will definitely be going back and hopefully no interruptions like that along our ride next time! read more

Dry Creek Trail - Parks Near Me - Modesto, California

Great place to walk the dogs, the kids, bicycle ride, roller blade, etc. Paved and dirt paths. Lots of beautiful trees. Good parking at end of coffee road into scenic, as it dead ends into the parking lots. Walk down a dirt patch from the circle and cross the bridge, you are there. Bathrooms to the left a ways, tennis courts, play ground. read more

This is such a beautiful park! Nice trails to follow either along the sidewalk or a even near the water. People ride their bikes so be mindful of that as well. Very nice place to come and relax or to just get out and walk for a while. read more

First off, I'm not very familiar to the Modesto area. I randomly found this park because I've been extremely into visiting national and regional parks so I thought, hey, why not! Getting to this park was kind of a stretch because I commute from Lodi to Turlock for school. I had a 7 hour gap until a meeting in Modesto so I figured that I should look around the area for some sort of hiking trail. The Google Maps GPS was on and while listening to it as I started to approach the park, the last two directions were... "Turn right and turn right" without any street names! Just make sure you've put into your GPS "East La Loma park" and you'll be fine. I'm glad that I found this park online because I killed at least two or three hours here walking on the dirt path to Thousand Oaks. Anyways. I wouldn't really call this a hiking trail because all I was doing was walking on a leveled dirt path designed for hiking. Occasionally you'd find the paths along the Tuolumne river very sudden dips on the trail so be careful. It's either stay on the narrow dirt path or fall straight into the water. It's a pretty high drop! It's quite the scenic walk and I love that it's well maintained. Although, I was baffled by a male biker who was creating a trail of trash along the bike trails. He looked like a delinquent and kept dropping plastic bags and old phone chargers just to make the park look unpresentable. As a first timer here, I felt obligated to clean up his trash because it's just so disrespectful. I guess I get it.. If you're a regular why shouldn't you make a trail of trash... On the bike path... With dozens of trash cans around the park........ I'll end my sarcasm here. Other than cleaning up after a grown male adult, I loved the park. I loved seeing the little squirrel holes and the constant chatter in the distance of them calling out to each other. I loved seeing the patches of water of the Tuolumne river, it's just refreshing! It was a very family friendly park for just a bike ride, picnic or a "just for the hell of it" kind of day! Definitely recommend the people of Modesto checking this place out. It's amazing. read more

Dry Creek Trail - The trees are just beginning to bloom! Perfect time for a visit. - Parks Near Me - Modesto, California

Not a bike enthusiast, but I did enjoy my ride yesterday. Although it was a little wet from the morning showers. The scenery was nice, lots of fresh air, and people were either walking, dog walking or biking the trail like I was enjoying. The bike ride was all asphalt with a some off dirt path for beginner mountain road bikes riders. Only wish people would pick up after their dogs. Especially when they do there business on the trail itself. I will be definitely riding there soon. read more

Very beautiful park! Nice trails and playground for kids. Basketball court and tennis court as well.

In the Summer I walk my dogs here daily, and in winter on the weekends during the day. The trail is great for dog walkers, runners and bikers. Only complaint has nothing to do with the park itself- but people who let their dogs go off-leash. Mixing off-leash and on-leash dogs is a recipe for trouble! They also have a nice picnic area where you will see birthday parties taking place on the weekend, tennis courts, basketball courts and frisbee golf. I was in talks with the city about turning one of the large vacant areas into a dog park, but someone with actual $$ came in and changed the proposal to a park in the college area, oh well. read more

Pretty trails! Clean well kept and open for a group walk. I don't like the fact that during afternoon ( common time for walks with kids family and pets ) there's groups of high speed bikers. Don't get me wrong, many are very polite and go around. Others don't like to slow down , understandable. Although giving rude looks and shouting as you speed on by isn't very mature. But if you're training or here for the high speed, maybe pick a different time of day ... Anyways there's always nice families and groups and I really enjoy it. My daughter often stops to play at the children's playground and we sit and rest with or dog. I would NOT RECOMMENDGoing alone at any time of the day. Or even going past sunset. There's been numerous reports of creepy people and stalking and things you wouldn't want to be stuck in the middle of. Other than that this is a great trail to get some cardio or just a healthy walk into your routine (: read more

Great park with something for everyone. The trail goes on for many miles. It's pretty much the highlight of Modesto.

Always A Beautiful View. Especially When Taking The Dogs Out For A Walk. Nice Long Trails For Avid Joggers Like Me. And Bikers Too. Great For Frisbee Golf. There Are Basketball Courts And Tennis Courts Also. A Kids Playground. Good For Stress Relief. Beautiful Fall Leaves After October For Great Photos. read more

I like dry creek for the occasional bike ride during nice weather, I don't like the idea of homeless running around here, or under bridges. I have had nothing, but good experiences here. read more

This place was so cool my first time there 10/9/15. The bike trail isn't difficult enough that you can't run it. Very pretty and so much fun for a run, jog or bike ride. It was very relaxing experience. Very friendly people along trail the pavement path and even very courteous bike riders on the trail. read more

I love this Place, there's a lot of people out there but it's quiet. There's disc golf out there that's always fun to do too. The creek is a plus. Just ignore the bums they don't both with anyone. read more

Best park in the area! It's definitely a hidden gem. I come here all the time. It's clean and well cared for. It does attract homeless but that's expected at every park and they have every right to enjoy the park as much as anyone else read more

As I continue to get to know the area better and to keep up with a healthy lifestyle, I came here to do a jog/walk as suggested by a Friend. It is a 3.3 mile one way way trail with minimal hills but with this sweltering heat, it can be a challenge. I was able to do 6.25 miles(back & forth) and was a good challenge. I'm definitely coming back ,but I highly suggest bringing your own water because the water faucets out there are nasty!!!! read more

As long as you stay on the left side of the bridges the hobos won't bother you. I also have never seen so many squirrels in my life!

Some areas of this park are great because you can watch/listen to the peaceful stream, walk under the shade of some nice green trees, and watch the squirrels run by. Other parts are sunny, dry, and dead. A little bit more maintenance would do this park wonders. I recommend parking on Buena Vista street and packing a picnic so that after your walk you can easily get to your trunk and eat under a tree. There are a few homeless people here but theyre mostly harmless. Cool area considering its Modesto! read more

I love to walk my dog here but it is a little sketchy sometimes. There are some pretty scary individuals depending on the time of day you go. I live less than a block from the El Vista/Scenic entrance so I take that and head down towards Claus. Try to avoid letting your pooch run through the "weeds" because I've heard horror stories about pricklies getting lodged in throats and nostrils. Unfortunately, some low life/lives stole all the bronze(?) plates off of the stone markers. Overall, cool place to take your dog for a run or yourself for a bike ride. They have little off road trails that are fun to ride on. Frisbee Golf, little squirrels, and beautiful surroundings :) read more

Compared to Modesto in general, this is a fairly well-kept park minus the dog poop everywhere. This is the last beautiful place we have left in Modesto and I hate to see all the trash in the creek. Hoards of ground squirrels. There are some hills for longboarding enthusiasts, some dirt off-trails for mountain bikers, and a paved road for joggers. There's also a park close by called East La Loma Park with a playground, restroom, basketball court, tennis courts, and some covered seating for BBQ's and birthday parties. They also have a golf Frizby course. I don't know how to play it but I see people throwing Frizbys around whenever I go. At the end of the trail there is another park where a bunch of homeless people congregate. They don't usually bother anyone, but then again I always go with at least one other person because well, it's a bike trail hidden in the middle of a city. Some of the hardcore bikers decked out in spandex, helmet, and safety googles can be rude. They won't slow down. They'll just scream at you. Such is life. We will learn to co-exist. read more

Lots of great single tracks for getting a quick mountain bike ride in. Not very steep, but kind of tricky by the river. If someone is coming right toward you, hope you can slow down fast enough! My buddy nearly collided with a biker barreling down the river trail a month ago. Fun outdoor getaway, just keep to the paved path if you don't want that much "excitement". read more

Great park to walk your dogs , ride your bike or bring your kids . Lots of people disc golfing here . Scenic . Clean . not exactly a hiking trail but more like a walking path . Not all areas of the park have street lights so I would not Recomend going alone late at night. But it is quite beautiful here . read more

My husband and I live right next to the trail and it is so awesome that we can walk out of our door and go for a run on a beautiful trail. We take our dog 4-5 times a week . Starting at the Moose park entrance and getting down to the basketball courts and back toward home is our daily thing, and its just over 3 miles. Perfect for us. Never have had any bad experiences. Always tons of people/families out with their dogs. My dog loves to interact with the other dogs as most of them are friendly. Haven't come across any rude people yet, everyone has been delightful. read more

Live close to this park, great trails for riding. Mountain bike or road trails. Frisbee golf course is nice. I just ask if you do use the bike trails be aware of other riders. Stay to the right of trail. I'm an avid cyclist and get tired of families or folks walking animals take up the whole path. read more

It was difficult to find but after reading another review for finding it we found it! It was really pretty park to walk through, lots of families biking and lots of joggers. There is a lot of shade which was nice because of the hot weather that day. I would definitely come back here with my bike and my other kids and have a nice bike ride. read more

This place just keeps getting better and better. At one time this area was the slums but thanks to local developers this area has REALLY turned around in recent years and the park has benefited tremendously from it. For one there aren't nearly as many creepers out and they even added Frisbee Golf!!! I work nearby and have noticed the park getting a lot more attention and I am very happy with the improvements made. read more
