The soccer fields were some of the best fields my daughter has ever played on! Was happy that parking was free, unlike a lot of other soccer parking lots we have been to for State Cup.

They should not be charging a gate fee to parents if the team is renting the field for practice.

Ask the Community - Mistlin Sports Park

Is there shade to watch baseball games?

If it is a baseball field by the water tower, it really depends on which field you're on and where the sun is. The other two across from the water tower are out in the sun regardless. There is no specific overhang on the bleachers. If sun is a… Read more

Does anyone know if this park is dog friendly? My son has a soccer game and we are coming from the bay area and want to bring our dog. I can't find it documented anywhere. Thank you in advance!

At the soccer fields yes I am pretty sure its dog friendly as it's an open space of fields ans no gate entry as the baseball fields has a gate and more restrictions.

There is a small kids playground by these courts. Another part of the upper area consists of a large lawn area, which is plenty big for several different sports. There are two baseball diamonds and a medium size playground. The bathrooms are located by the baseball diamonds. Near this area is also a butterfly garden. When you walk to the lower area, there is a large gazebo which is nice for parties. There are two volleyball courts that consist of sand. The remaining area is fairly large and consist of lawn. The park parallels the Stanislaus river and there are several access points to enjoy the water. This park can get fairly busy on the weekends.

When the water is low it only comes up to your knees in most places and deep areas up to your waist. This part of the river is mostly sandy instead of rocky. The city keeps the park well maintained and there appears to a community center along with public restrooms, a butterfly garden, a large gazebo area and a volleyball area. Went on Labor Day and was surprised there were no crowds, especially since there is no entrance fee. You can either park in the park and walk to the river or you can park in a city parking area with paved trails leading towards the river. No BBQ grills or tables near the river but they do have lots of garbage bins so bring your dog, camp chairs and a picnic basket and soak in the natural beauty.

Thankfully nobody was in our camp site as there wasn't a board or anything indicating what camp sites were not previously reserved. Got lucky as the spot we love, #49 was empty. Was impressed the grounds seemed to be mowed down and not too overgrown. The wind drops lots of leaves through the day but the open loop seems well maintained. They still have the feral cat issue, that been years in the making sadly. I will say there were less cats then the past few years, at least that showed themselves during our weekend. Bathrooms were very clean, even with many familes/groups tent camping throughout the grounds. We never had to wait to use them. Well stocked with soap and tp. With no camp host, there was nobody there to keep the noise to a minimum when it got late. It wasn't too bad but I did hear laughing and talking well past midnight. didn't bother us as we were in a RV, but maybe an issue for any families with small kids. There were a few other dogs on site, all dog owners kept their pups on a leash and I only heard one bark. Well done my fellow dog people. Can't blame the camp grounds, but the mosquitos here are AWFUL! We had the wrist bands, candles, bug spray with 45% deet. We went overboard with protection and ended up coming home with 4 bites. Them skeeters were humming early in the morning through the night. Overall we had a great weekend and will continue to come back to Caswell.
