My neighbor who is extremely picky when it comes to manicures told me to come here so I did. All I can say is they do an AMAZING job, I just get regular gel manicures and pedicures but they meticulous when it comes to cutting cuticles and making sure my nails are filed perfect. This is one of my favorite nail salon's. Every time I go in they know who I am and seat me right away, and anyone who walks is seated right away in a chair if a chair is open. They take great care of your nails and make sure everything is how you want it. Misty is the manager there and is very reasonable and sticks to her word about her products! She makes it feel like home there! Some of the girls I go to are Terry and Jenny! Jenny does a really good job at threading if you would like to get threading done! Honestly I feel like when I go anywhere else it doesn't compare to how well they do my nails here. They take the time to do everything perfectly so your nail polish will last long. They also have gel that has vitamins in it so it's really good for your nails. They also have set of gel and polish that match so you can have gel on your hands and polish on your toes that match. They have about 9 chair or 10 and a waxing room in the back. They also use LED lights so doesn't add extra UV damage to your fingers. So it's amazing to know that you are in good hands when you go here! When you get a mani and pedi you can get the royal pedicure and they put a minty leg mask on your legs and an orange scrub and lavender lotion!! Highly recommended! Also all of their polish is OPI or ESSIE! They have a lot of options!! You can also call and make an appointment to secure a good time to go in! I am very disappointed in this place. I used to come all the time and enjoyed my experience. (They typically do a pretty good job.) However, the last three times I made an appointment they had taken walk-ins and I had to wait for over 30 mins. On top of that they told me it would only be 15 mins- so I had to keep coming back only to wait again. Very frustrating when your expecting a relaxing experience. I've been going to this nail salon for quite a while when I am in town, and I really like the way they do my nails. However, some of the employees get pretty pushy about getting other services done and sometimes if I don't want to get other services they rush and get sloppy on the rest of my nails. I came here today for my first time. This will now be my new regular nail salon. The salon is small but very clean super friendly and great work. Their pricing is very good for nails as well as waxing. I had the most pain free waxing experience I've had in quite some time. If you like nail Shallac or Gel nails they have both and for around $28 for the OPI version. I highly recommend this place you will not be disappointed. read more

This was the worst manicure I have ever had. First the woman cut my nails so short, then in the middle of soaking my nails, a girl walked in and asked to get her eyebrows done. My hands are dropped in water and the woman tells me to wait 15 minutes. The eyebrow wax was not scheduled, why would you stop doing a current customers nails in the middle of a manicure. When she comes back, she shapes my (now very short) nails so horribly and then starts painting. I see her notice polish from my old manicure and she tries repeatedly to paint heavy polish over it. I ask her to remove the old polish and she seems disappointed she was caught. Then a brush from the polish gets caught on my nail and sticks in the middle of the nail, I point it out and she continues to keep globing polish over it and smiling at me telling me it is fine. I am the customer, and no it is not fine. She was rushing the entire manicure and there was not one customer waiting, I can only imagine how bad the service is when it is crowded. Maybe it was an off day, but I would never recommend going her for your nails. read more

Found this place on yelp while visiting Laguna Beach. Walked in without an appt for a gel manicure and was greeted and taken right away. I inquired about the product the nail technician had on her nails and decided to upgrade to a powder of some sort. She informed me the price was $40. Once finished I told her I'd like to use their yelp check in to get 10% off any service. She immediately stated that in order to use that, the price would be $45 then down to $40 with yelp check in. First of all shame on me for being speechless and non confrontational and handing over my card. I didn't process the absurdity of it fast enough and knew I'd never be back. What a scam! Nowhere did the menu board have one price for non yelp check in offer and another higher priced menu board for those wanting to use the 10% offer. Not to mention 10% off $45 is not exactly $40. If your going to scam tourists at least know how to do simple math. I would have given this place one star but she did a nice job on nails. Next time I'm in Laguna I will try one of the many other nail salons in the area. Shame on Modern Nails! read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE. Took an hour and 45 minutes to do a simple shellac manicure and toe polish change.... And they had at least 12 people working at the time. Way over priced, and way too hot for such a small space. They even tack on add-ons that you don't even know you're paying for until the end of the whole process. Finally, the cherry on top of this whole hour and 45 minute long process was finding out that one hand of my shellac manicure was matte and one was glossy. Definitely will not be coming back to this salon. read more

I went in because I drive out of town to get my nails done and I live close by. I spent $100 to get gel nails for a manicure and pedicure and waxing my eyebrows. It usually last about 3 weeks when I get them done anywhere else. They looked ok when I left. I went on vacation the next day and about 1 week into my trip my nails were chipping all over and looked horrible. I had to work hard to pick them off because they looked so bad. I took a picture and brought it in to show the manger. She asked me why I didn't come back so they could fix it. I told her 3xs that I was out of town. They redid my nails for a small discount. They still didn't come out that great or last as long as they should have. The thing that got me really mad and made write this review is that the lady who redid them said she had been working there for years and started to shame me and told me I was lying. She said you were here about a month ago not a few weeks ago. I told her I know and told her that it was only a week later they were chipping. She continued to say I was lying. I was so mad that I started to get out of the chair and leave. I told her I didn't appreciate her talking to me like that. I only stayed because she said I'm so sorry and I will fix it. Would not recommend. Got gel nails and chipped 10 minutes later. I spent 35 dollars and had to come back the next day to get it fixed. The lady didn't even take the time to redo the nail. I took my daughter here for a birthday treat & had an appointment for mani/pedi for both of us. On arrival the 2 gals worked on her & left me sitting there waiting. Another customer came in & they took her before me! Rude! I complained & one of the gals did my pedicure, but she cut me several times never going back & did not get the manicure. I hate to give this rating, but it's come to the point where I have to. I've been coming here a long time and am usually happy. However, the last time I got my gel nails done they came off in 4 DAYS. I went back and they did redo it, but those still came off in a week. This review mostly is for my service yesterday. I went for a lip wax and as I'm sitting there, terry put the wax on my lip and then someone walked in the main door. She left me there with wax on the left side of my face and went to go basically confirm more business. She came back and ripped the wax off but at that point It was cold and had been sitting there. I now have 6 bloody scratch marks on my lip that are not only extremely painful, but ugly and she never should have done that. I would stay away and go somewhere else. read more
