I had an appointment at 4 to get my nails removed. I got there in time and I sat there waiting for 25 minutes. When they took my nails off, she basically ripped them off with a nail tip now my nails are super thin and scratchy. I paid $17 for something I could've done at my house for free. I don't recommend getting your nails off here. Wish I could give no stars. read more

The prices of nails are ridiculous, but on top of that they did a horrible job, my daughters friend was cut multiple times and her work was so sloppy. To make this whole experience worse they double charged me, so $1000 missing from my account! Not even including the cash tips I gave! When talking to them about the double charge and when I'll get that back, they kept changing the amount of days! When I asked them is there anything they can do on their part like a service compensation or even a discount for next service since that's a lot of money taken from me, they said no! I would not chance this salon again. I walked in for a regular manicure. Brought my own polish. I was given to a male tech who was not good. First he was heavy handed and trimmed my cuticles and skin around my nail aggressively. Then he cut my natural nails so uneven the tech next to him noticed and try to help him. At this point I was scared to see how he painted nails and just said I was done and would pay and leave. The receptionist at the front asked how my service was and I said it was not great. Showed him my nails and said I just wanted to pay and leave. The owner was standing next to him and they both wanted to make it right. So the owner took me to her station and completely redid my nails and they turned out beautiful. She said next time I am unhappy please let them know and that they would love to make it right. If I had had this service to begin with I would have been giving a great review. But for the initial service and time wasted, I would not recommend going here. Me and my mom walked in and my mom sat down to do a fill, I go in the empty seat next to her and the nail lady asked me what service I wanted, so I asked her what's the price difference between regular gel manicure and full set she began showing me prices and me and my mom was talking it over since my mom is the one that was going to be paying for me we both agree that I should just get a full set. Don't come here idk what they did to my natural nails but multiple of my nails (thumbs and middle finger )there splitting in half. All I got was gel on my nails and they don't do there work that well. I went to get my thumb re done because that was the only one that was about to break at the time and the lady who did mine did half assed work on it which is ridiculous. The shapes of my nails are also not even the same size some are almond shape, pointy, and some are even cut not even the same my pinky's are both different sizes. Today is my birthday and the one thing I wanted to do for myself was get my nails done, on my end on their tablet I scheduled a pedi and full set. The lady at the desk hands me my receipt that says FULL SET. I sit in the chair and they're doing my toes and the whole time I'm wondering when they'll start on my hands. They finish, and I ask, should I just go back in the waiting room and wait for my hands. Everyone looks confused and they confront the lady at the desk saying, she getting a full set too. The lady at the desk said, we won't have an appointment for another two hours, I'm upset, whatever, I was going to wait. I was still in the waiting room and the lady at the front desk sees my dad and says "she right over there" that caught me off guard a little bit, then my dad and I are having our own private conversation and he asked me "what happened" I told them they didn't schedule for a full set" and the lady at the desk ONCE AGAIN inserts herself in my conversation with my dad trying to argue with me. on my end i scheduled for both. The slip she handed me said full set. She kept trying to argue with me over something she inserted her self into. I never once addressed her. Horrible service. Rude. We went to our appointment and they took us pretty quickly. 2 men worked on my mom and I got 2 women. One of the women sat and talked angrily in her home language the whole time. I wanted to relax. i got regular polish because i don't like the UV rays for gel. Anyways, my polish didn't even last a day. They have cheap clear polish which resulted in my nails looking like this. I've been going here for over 3 years now and Nee has always taken care of my feet! Tina is also awesome and even went above and beyond for me when I needed my nails done last minute before a vacation; they close at 7 but she made sure I was finished before they left for the day. Nee has gone out of her way to make me feel comfortable and always does such a great job. Her massages feel amazing, and I never have to worry about asking her to change something because she is so kind. This location really wants their customers to love their nails and they do a very good job. Their customer service is also amazing, Nee knew me, my sister, and my best friend's name all by the second time we went in. Our conversations are great and we even giggle from time to time when her accents gets the best of her. This salon isn't like normal salons because they are always trying to include you in conversations. They did a great job on my nails, a little pricey, didn't disclose cost, charged me for a pedicure that was not the basic cost, nor what I asked for, but overall, very happy with the experience. I ask though, if a customer has an appointment, and you charge a deposit for that appointment, please honor that appointment as we honored paying the deposit. We waited over 30 minutes passed our appointment time. The place is professional, not a bunch of chatter between technicians, and most speak very good English and are understandable. My toes and nails [dipped] are the best I've had them. I probably over tipped, of which I won't do ever again. It's hard to find a nail place that ticks all the boxes. This place is good, but not great, I'll keep checking out other salons. The appointment/deposit thing bothers me. They use glue instead Evan 3/4 of nail is lifting off the nail bed then after a few days the glue breaks down & you get fungus !!! And they charge for every little thing !!! When I arrived I was kindly given a selection to choose from in regards to gel options. Christina did my pedicure and she was meticulous with each step. I went to Modern Nail Salon for a basic mani/pedi. The gentleman who greeted me and seated me was friendly and professional. The technician assigned to me seemed upset when she learned that I had opted not to get gel and just wanted the basic manicure and pedicure. As this technician began my pedicure, she seemed distracted and far more interested in her conversations with other technicians than what she was doing. As she began the manicure, she was cutting quickly and aggressively, often looking up and around as she cut, causing her to cut me two times, the second being a deep cut of the flesh. Note that the direction of the cut was inconsistent with the direction of the nail bed. It is a straight downward cut. Insult to literal injury, the manicurist (the person who had also performed the pedicure) thought she was entitled to a monetary tip and tried to plead her case that she was entitled to a tip because she had apologized for cutting me. Absolute madness. I am the first to tip minimally 20%. When incompetence causes harm, it is insane to expect to be compensated monetarily. Sadly, I did not have the presence of mind to get the manicurist's name. I did, however, take note that she was Asian and about 50-ish. She was the younger of two older manicurists. Think twice before allowing strangers to use sharp objects that could break the skin on you. I would avoid Modern Nail Salon at all cost. Hopefully they will better vet their manicurists in the future. The technician I saw Saturday, September 23, 2023, was incompetent, at best; having serious mental health issues, at worst. Whatever the cause of her cutting my flesh, she ought not be near vulnerable people and in possession of sharp objects. read more

Great nails, but MAN do they nickel and dime you to death. I usually pay $30-35 for the nails I expected, they wanted to charge me $60! So extra charge for 2 different colors, extra charge for Matte, extra EXTRA UP charge for marble, they wanted $15 extra!!!! And then to top it off... extra charge to use your card. I had a 10 o'clock appointment that I paid a $10 deposit for. Got a text verifying the 10 o'clock appointment 30 minutes before the actual appointment time. Walked in at 10 AM only to be told that the nail tech wouldn't be there today until this afternoon. They insisted they had called me but there was no call no text cancelling and I had just gotten a text to verify my appointment 30 minutes prior to my arrival. I asked if somebody else could do my nails but they told me everybody was booked up. This would have been my fourth visit to the salon and they have never been on time, sometimes up to 45 minutes late. Overall very poor customer service. I won't be back. read more

I asked for rose gold dipping powder similar to what I previously had done and also to pair it with a crystal dipping powder to make it more sparkling. Instead the powder was poorly placed on and not fully covered, open spaces missing the glitter powder. My nails have lumps and the color is a dull pink. Not at all What I requested. Went from spending hundreds here for my multiple people to no more business at all, the ladies up front make fun of people, made homophobic jokes about me in front of my best friend. When I approached the manager he didn't care at all and said he will review it on camera though they were whispering and behind the cameras, ALL TO JUST WALK OUT WITH THIS NEW FULL SET. This place has two locations, and I went to the one off of Cherry Valley Boulevard. It is extremely expensive, sadly. It was $98 for a gel manicure and pedicure. I didn't get anything extra at all. The pedicure was so fast. There was some hot towels and some warm lotion put on. I got the pedicure that was $40 with gel. It was not relaxing at all and was very rushed. For the prices that are charged, you would think a little more time would be spent on these services. I will be going elsewhere from now on. The lady that greeted me rolled her eyes that I was asking for that (like it was an inconvenience) I waited 30minutes to be seen, which is expected because I didn't have an appointment. I wouldn't care but there was 2 other associates playing on their phones until 20 minutes after I was seen.. . The girl who finally called me over, again asked what I wanted and continued to try to talk me into other services (so bad like she was going to be disciplined for not cross selling) The WHOLE TIME I GOT MY SERVICES, ALL OF THE WORKERS WERE SNICKERING AND GOSSIPING IN THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE!!
