Faridah was awesome!! I have never done sugaring before and it was WAY less painful than normal waxing. I went to her for an extended bikini wax, lower stomach, and underarms. I couldn't believe how much less painful sugaring is. Faridah also makes her own sugaring wax so you know its organic and doesn't have a bunch of harmful chemicals in it. I just moved from Atlanta, GA to Los Angeles and I was really stressed out about finding a new waxing salon since I thought I had absolutely the best experience in ATL with organic bee wax in a Brazilian salon. I set the intention I will attract a top of the line salon and guess what, first place I called was Coated Candy! I immediately "fell in love" with Sepi who scheduled the appointment for me. Not only she was professional and friendly but she has also lived a long time in Atlanta prior to LA so by the time we finished I felt like I knew her for ages. She explained to me that this is a family own business which put me at ease as I love boutique style salons versus chains (as I am European). I went for my first appointment and met Farideh. The experience with her and sugar waxing was amazing. I thought organic hot hard wax was the way to go but we don't know what we don't know. One session with Farideh taught me once you go sugar you never go back! Farideh not only has phenomenal skills (she won so many accolades in the industry) but also is very personable and I could feel her big heart. She genuinely cares about you and does an amazing job. The sugar ball is rolling gently while the interesting conversation takes place and all of the sudden your skin is smooth like the new born's. I did just the brazilian at the first session and there were no bumps no irritation afterwards. At my second visit I added full legs and face and have noticed how fast it was done yet effective (I believe Farideh did it way faster than I was used to in my Atlanta salon with the hot wax). Today it has been exactly 3 weeks from the 2nd visit and I am amazed how much my hair slowed down in its growth. I may have to reschedule my next week appointment for brazilian as so far there is not enough hair to wax and the hair on my legs are lighter and weaker, they may be ready to wax yet I can still get by wearing a dress versus hiding my legs in jeans till the next visit. For the first time in my life I can go once a month and still feel my legs being presentable. And did I mentioned the prices are very reasonable? Let's face it, there's nothing pleasant about having your private area waxed. It not only hurts but in my case left me traumatized and resorting back to completely foregoing getting my private waxed ever again. I went a whole year without waxing and relied on an archaic razor to do the job until I decided to give it one more try. I'm a scary cat and have absolutely no pain tolerance whatsoever, but upon seeing the glowing yelp reviews I decided to give Farideh a try, and OMG, my entire outlook has changed. Farideh has the magic touch! While I did experience some pain, it was nowhere close compared to the horrible past experiences I have had. Farideh really knows what she's doing, and her hair removal technic is flawless. She works fast and knows which direction to pull the hair as to greatly minimize the pain, so much so, that it was actually tolerable, and I can't believe I'm even saying that, but yes, it is actually possible! She's just that GOOD. She also has a soft touch and knows how to make you comfortable. As a result of my experience with her, I'm no longer dreading this process. This woman is truly an expert as what she does. Honestly, I'm floored! As it turns out, she confessed to me that she had been doing this since she was a young kid, and was taught the art of sugarwaxig back in Iran. I can't rave enough about Faridah's waxes. I've been getting full Brazilian and more from her for years, and no other wax compares. SHE IS THE REAL DEAL. Whereas other estheticians learn from a book or a course, and buy their sugar wax online, Faridah brings her century old flicking technique and homemade recipe straight from Persia. I choose middle eastern sugar waxing over western waxing because the wax, which is like a taffy, only sticks to the hair, not your skin, and is less painful. A dermatologist I consulted, told me that regular waxing pulls on the skin and traumatizes it, which can lead to lasting damage and faster aging. This is why I prefer sugaring. My skin actually feels softer and healthier when I leave Faridah's. Seriously, I could write all afternoon about this; you won't understand until you've gotten one. Faridah - She's an awesome person who makes you feel like you're really taking care of yourself when you see her. I'm terrified of pain and will back out of anything uncomfortable. But when I go see Faridah, it's like I'm at my aunt's house getting a quick and fun beauty touch up. Even though waxing is not a part of my family's history, I feel totally at home and natural doing them with her. My cousin flew in from Australia for a week in LA, and I literally picked him up from the airport and took him straight to Faridah to get his first ever wax. He couldn't believe how amazing his skin felt, and was totally in love with her. Your Skin - She makes some crazy top secret brew that she cooks from all edible and organic products. When you leave her office, your skin feels like you had a moisturizing facial. It's her sugar; I literally put my clothes back on and just waltz out in tip top condition. I guess I have sensitive skin, because I can't even shave my upper legs, due to ingrown hairs and the pain of the hair growing back in. But with Faridah's waxes, I can get the most sensitive part of my body waxed, and it feels amazing for over a month, not a single ingrown hair. No pain when it grows in, and it barely even grows back after a few waxes. The Wax - My cousin jokes that "Faridah hates hair" with a passion, because she will clean you up like nobody's business. She gets every single hair, and if there's a stray that's too tiny for the wax, she pulls out her tweezers and nabs it. Once I told her I wanted a "runway strip", and after the wax, she took out these baby scissors and trimmed it perfectly lol. She takes care of you and knows how to make you look and feel your best. I always just follow her lead with fabulous results. Other Waxes - Only once, did I decide to try another sugar wax. This was because it was a last minute situation and I was in west LA and wouldn't have had time to drive to Faridah. I went to an esthetican who pampered me and sprinkled a little powder on my skin to "lower the pain" and spritzed me with moisturizers, and had a little fan to keep me dry... She charged me a lot more than Faridah, and actually took more than twice as long to wax me. (I am in and out in less than 30 minutes with Faridah, and I sat on the waxing table for about an hour getting the same this with this other lady.) After I left, I noticed some hairs here and there, but I decided I would let it go. The biggest difference was afterwards. About 4 days later, the ingrown hairs started coming in. And they kept coming in, for weeks. I had so many ingrown hairs after this other esthetician, who had learned her sugar waxing in a class, whereas with Faridah, who learned from the actual source, I had maybe one in 3 years.
