I have loved Modern nail. Until today. I went in to get a mani pedi..and that is great. I was getting in the chair..set up for my pedicure..then the lady doing SNS came over to my chair to do my nails.. I hate getting my nails done at the chair. She never asked me what type of SNS (massage or what have you) I wanted. She asked what color and then said "you sure? It's to bright" Um yes..I am aware.. So she went on to start.. She never spoke to me..EVER not one word..I tried to make small talk and she would not even answer me. She was about half way in and said you need to wait to dry.. Um...no I dont.. But she got up to get her phone and called her what I assume was her boyfriend..becuase after she hung up he called right back and she began facetiming him while she did my nails.. Never in my life..I was shocked She was facetiming and trying to do my nails.. They were terrible and she had the nerve to try and blame me. I made her redo them ALL (I touched one knowing it wasnt dry pretty much ruining it) so she buffed them down and restarted.. I have a 40$ gift card left to the place and I'll either give it away or toss it.. I will NEVER return read more

DO NOT go here. If I could give zero stars, I would. This is by far the worst salon I've ever done business with for several reasons. In a pinch I decided to try them out for a gel pedicure and SNS (color) manicure on Sunday. They had a man doing my pedicure, while my nails soaked in acetone. While I was sitting in the chair, I asked for the color options, which are displayed in little books. I asked for the gel colors and the SNS colors, which he seemed to have a problem with, even though he knew I was getting both services. He brought both to me, but then quickly took away the gel color book before I could even look at it. I like to have my nails and toes match, so I asked him if he could bring back the gel color book for me to find two matching colors or similar shades. He took away the SNS book and came back with another SNS book and told me that those colors had exact gel matches. I chose a color from that book, and when it came time for color to be put on, I was told there wasn't an exact match to the color I chose. I was then brought ANOTHER book with very few options in it and was told those were the only SNS colors with exact matches. I choose a color and moved on. After I left, I realized my nails and toes were painted two very different colors. I'm confused why they don't know their own products, but that's not the worst of it. During my pedicure, the man seemed annoyed the whole time, as he kept sighing and making (seemingly negative) comments to the woman doing my nails, Tiffany, who is the owner. She was worse than him in terms of professionalism, as she was taking on her phone the entire time she was doing my nails. She would pause her conversation every now and then to ask logistical questions, but would go right back to talking. I told her I like my SNS to be pretty thin, and she said she would make me happy. As time goes on, she starts telling me that she can't make it thinner, and that if I want thinner polish I need do gel instead. She blames it on my natural nail shape. No other salon has had an issue with making my SNS thin. On top of my nails looking thicker than I prefer right now, almost all of my nails are shaped unevenly and jagged, with my natural nail showing. Many of my nails also have SNS overlapping my cuticles (which she didn't bother to do any work on) or completely hanging off the sides of my nails, to the point where the hardened color is attached to my skin. I've added pictures for reference. I went in the salon today to bring these issues to her attention, but the she was out of town. I spoke with a woman named "T" who said that she could file my nails on the edges and do a few other things to make them look a little better, and I said I don't have time and would prefer to get a refund and take my business elsewhere when I do have time. She told me she couldn't issue me a refund and that she would call the owner and let me talk to her about my nails. The owner asked me to explain the situation to her over the phone and when I did, she blatantly lied to me and said she didn't do my nails that day because in three years of owning a business, she has never done someone's nails at the spa chair, only at her station. I find this funny because all of the nail tools she rolled over to the spa chair from her station had "Tiffany" labels on them and she flat out told me that she was the owner while she was doing my nails. I pointed that out to her on the phone, but she continued to lie. She said she would not issue me a refund because it is one of her shop policies, however that "policy" is not posted anywhere in her shop. Not only was her work terrible (especially for being an owner of a nail salon??), her business ethics are worse. I have now filed down the jagged nails and trimmed the excess SNS off my skin, which I'm sure will result in them peeling now that the top coat has been broken by the abrasion from filing them. I had been there when y'all first opened and it was amazing. My Mani & Pedi was so great and my daughter loved hers as well. Went back yesterday to do a Mani & Pedi because I'm getting married today. This experience wasn't at all like my first. My nails have scuff marks on them which I noticed on my drive to pick up my kids from south Austin so by the time I returned to Taylor well it was to late to go and let someone know. The nails weren't shiny, there where indentations in 6 out of 10 of the nails which was weird. The nails felt sticky?? Which I've never encountered that before. It just didn't look like Gellac nails that cost $56. Then my Pedi instead of it being shiny the French that got done looks dull color. I tried doing alcohol at home maybe that would help it look shiny but it did nothing. I spent $110 for both and I shouldn't have paid half of this for the service and the out come I got. I got a burn cut from the nail file on my left middle finger that bled for a minute b/c he did it so hard on the side of the nail, and on my Pedi he didn't do the massage or the scraping of the dead skin like they usually do. (Sorry I know gross) overall I think he took like 20 mins or 25 mins on my Pedi just on the color and taking off my previous nail polish, but it's frustrating bc it's my wedding day and I paid for it to look somewhat decent and it doesn't even look like that. A very unhappy customer who unfortunately won't be coming back. Posh Nails in Hutto is where I'll have to go. They always take there time regardless if there busy. -Veronica read more

I have gone to this salon a number of times and generally had a good experience. Unfortunately, when I went last Saturday, I had an experience bad enough to make me want to write a review. They were super busy and rushed through my pedicure, and along the way, the woman doing my nails was jabbing and cutting at my cuticles to the point that it was very painful and starting to bleed. I was flinching, but she didn't even notice. When I got home, the cuticles around my big toe puffed up and were very red. By the next day, my toe was badly infected. I'm still treating it days later, and am quite upset. On a less alarming--but still annoying--note, they do not really honor appointments. You can make an appointment, but they just take people as they walk in. So when I came in at 1:55 for my 2:00 appointment (which I had made 4 days earlier), all of their people were busy. It was 2:45 before my pedicure started. My sister, who had an appointment for a manicure at the same time, never even got hers because it was 3:00 and she was still just sitting there. Just discovered this place! Best nail experience I've had near Dripping Springs. Some highlights: - Cleanliness: everything was very clean, from the tools to the bathroom. - Staff: my sister and I never felt rushed by the staff, and they were very friendly and helpful! - Quality: I got a gel pedicure, and I'm very pleased with it! I can tell on one toe where the polish is a bit less opaque on one section, but it's barely noticeable, and very minor. - Price: regular manicures are only $15! Shellac is about $30, which is typical in Austin. Classic pedicure is $25, and it's an additional $15 for shellac, which was worth it to me. When we first walked in, we were offered a complimentary drink (we asked for water, so I'm not sure what the other choices were). My feet were horribly callused from months of training for the half marathon, and they were so patient and kind about it--they never made me feel embarrassed! It's $5 extra for an intensive callus removal, which I really needed, but they asked me first and were very gentle. This place doesn't have much of an online presence yet because they're brand new, but definitely don't let that deter you--this will be your new go-to place. read more

Do not waste your time and money. I went in for an SNS manicure, it took the tech and hour and 45 minutes. It was horrible, when I looked at my nails they were uneven and too thick. He had also buffed other spots down to the original nail. Then when I pointed this out he got mad. I don't usually write these, but I had too. The WORST experience. I won't go into all the details but do NOT go there. It's not like it used to be at all. Horrible customer service. We watched as they'd get phone calls for appointments and act like they're writing down the person's info but they never wrote it in the books. They even told one caller that they were closed. She took her time with me to pick out the color, shape my nails the way I wanted it, and made sure that the gel didn't run down the sides of my nail.
