Modern Seller has the perfect small-town charm with a luxurious twist. The décor is gorgeous and makes it such a cozy yet elevated place to hang out. They offer a great variety of coffee drinks and wine, which I love. Even better, they host tastings on Fridays and Saturdays--such a fun bonus. Modern Cellar is a small and quaint little wine cellar right in Cypress in an area that could definitely use a place like this. The parking in the center can be a bit frustrating from the gym and nearby restaurants but once you do find some you will find this place tucked around the corner next to Bruster's Ice Cream. My wife and I came to Modern Cellar a few weeks back after work for a wine and cheese pairing that was being advertised on their webpage. The place looked very busy with little to no seating when we walked in but we did manage to find a nice 2 seater along the entrance tucked away near the corner. We were starting to wonder if we needed to head to the bar to order the tasting pairings but after a bit of a wait, we did have a server come over and help us. The wines themselves were quite good in quality for this event and I enjoyed a couple of them but we were confused on why the cheese pairing portion was never mentioned, commented on or offered. That was what the event advertised and the main reason we came to try this out as my wife is a cheese fanatic and I thought this would be a nice way to treat her after a rough day. Unfortunately the cheese never came and we were left simply scratching our heads on why something advertised was not provided and left us a bit disappointed. Perhaps they were out, but even if so this should have been mentioned to us. Overall, I enjoyed the place and the wine itself and would definitely come back to try the in house coffee bar as well. A quality spot in a nice area but be careful on attending for an event as it may not be as advertised. read more

A cozy bar with curated wine tastings, that also serves coffee. This place is great, though this place is for wine, I came here for the coffee. The barista Jo was friendly and fast serving up my latte. I orderd one of their seasonal specialties, an Eggnog latte. It had espresso, eggnog, and spices topped with whipped cream, which was pretty good. I also ordered the Raspberry pop tart, which I enjoyed. The one drink that pushes this to a great for me was the peanut butter latte I got. The pistachio latte was good, but the peanut butter latte was pretty great. I'd definitely go just to get that again. We also thought it just looked like a really nice place in general with all of the wines and pastries. We hosted a private wine party for our clients here at Modern Cellar. It wasn't cheap, but, there isn't a high quality wine bar in Cypress that offers this type of service. The owner and another woman hosted our group and they made for an enjoyable evening. We definitely recommend checking out this business, as they serve high end wines for people who enjoy fine wines. If you're looking for 3 buck chuck, keep driving two miles down the road to TJ's. The owner really knows wine, as she's been in the wine industry for some time now. We went in for a wine tasting on a Friday evening. It seemed like many regulars were in attendance, but we didn't feel awkward or out of place. We shared one red flight and there was an offering of cheese and crackers out on the bar. Not surprisingly, there weren't any gluten free cracker options, but I wasn't even expecting the cheese so it was still a lovely bonus. The owner was circulating and chatting with patrons - he even gave us a great recommendation for a winery in Paso Robles that we ended up visiting the following week. It was a great start to date night! Will go back to check out the coffee during morning hours. read more

There is a nice mix of wines every week, the cheese is unique but incredible. The owner Gina is incredible about helping me pick out the wine I'm wanting to take home. The server was very nice (hence the 3 stars)... however, my experience there is that they closed super early for a wine place. Didn't even get to taste anything. They close at 6pm... I get it wineries close early... but this isn't a place amongst the vineyards. It's in the middle of a bedroom community where people have jobs and many likely don't get to leave those jobs until about 5 or 6pm. I was very excited to bring my Mom here to try it out, but sadly it was a no go. Shame on us for having jobs. Oh well. This is my new happy place. Coffee and wine in one place walking distance from our new home. I love to support the small business coffee shops because frankly southern california needs more of them. Lavazza espresso coffee is a treat. The caffe della cassa and this months coconut almond latte were delicious. Also tried a scone and cream cheese bomb from here. Theres seating inside and out. You can add a shot of Bailey's into your coffee, but of course need to stay and finish it within the shop. There were all kinds of nice wines on the wall. Was very nice decorative! I had already visited Modern Cellar a couple of times for the wine tasting, and it was a great experience. On the third visit, I decided to try the Lavazza coffee, the Cafe Della Casa Latte was recommended. My daughter tried in iced and had it as a hot mocha. We both loved it, and will be coming back.
