They called my mom to confirm the appointment, and she missed the call so she called back and they told her 9:30am. We were 15 minutes late and when I got her walker out and her inside they told me they called someone to take our place. They also said they called to confirm and didn't talk to anyone, even though my mom did talk to them. They wouldn't let us wait either, even though they have a sign that says they welcome walk ins. We will never return even if they did a good job which usually they don't anyway. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

Went for a fill and polish change after I saw a waitress who had her nails done there. Worst experience. I will not go back. I was changed $60 and when I asked why it was that much when a fill is $20 a worker argued with me that the price for a fill was $25 even when $20 was listen on their board. There was no reasoning for the additional $35 and they couldn't provide me with a reason. The girl who did the fill argued that I had to have gel polish instead of regular even after I told her I didn't like how thick gel was. I asked for a line design and she said no she can't do designs. I showed her it was just like French too just not filled in and she refused. Stating they dont do designs. The fill wasn't even coving all of my natural nail. The polish didn't go all over the nail either. I had a nail that was starting to lift at the top by the cuticle. I told her about it and said it may need filed a little further before the acrylic powder. She proceeded to RIP THE FULL NAIL OFF. No filing, just full on rip off. My nail is so damaged. It took off LAYERS of the nail to the point where it's paper thin. I will not be returning and telling people to not go there. read more

This was my 2nd time there and I was very happy and satisfied with the gel mani & pedi I received. Most other places try to get through the work so fast that they just go over your toes and finger nails quickly. Ana took care of me worth the $$ that I was paying (regardless of which pedi I got). She work on each toes and not just dabbing over them. Ana did a great job. I then went to Tommy and he totally fixed my last manicure and shaped my nails up and evened them out. The last mani I got was terrible (different place). I got gel polish and chose a light color but he made sure to put enough coats on to make sure it could be seen. I found Model Nails after I had some unsatisfactory experiences at other nail salons. I tend to go back and forth between acrylic manicures and dip powder manicures--and I am EXTREMELY picky about my nails and their shape, size, bubbles in the polish, etc. Model Nails totally stepped up to the plate and not only gave me PERFECT nails, but ones that lasted! I attached two pictures of my nails--one when they were freshly done and another when they were 6 weeks grown out (I know.... lol). At 6 weeks, not a single acrylic lifted or cracked and the gel polish has dulled a little bit doesn't have a single lift or chip. I don't know if I'm more impressed with how the nails are exactly what I wanted or how long they've lasted! They do take appointments, so if you don't make one be prepared for a 1/2 hour wait. With all their gel and dip colors, it'll probably take that long to pick a color! Oh, and ask for Chad. He is the best in Buffalo!! read more

First time coming here and I am not too sure if I like this place very much. The employee I spoke to did not sound pleasant when I asked her for the price of a manicure and gel manicure. Seemed like she was annoyed that I did not know the price... I went for the manicure. One of the employees messed up one of my nail (pinky) and made it seem like it was my fault by sucking her tongue. She somewhat looked like she was yelling at me in Vietnamese as well. She "fixed" it by wiping off the nail polish and reapplying the nail polish with only one coat. I'm sure many people know that when you apply nail polish - you apply two coats of the color but she did not for the messed up nail. As for my other nails, she did not paint it in shape of my nails.Also, she did not do a clean job on the cuticles :/ I guess there could have been a little more effort for a $15 manicure? Well... I had heard good things about this salon so I decided to give it a shot before the holidays. Immediately when I walked in I told her I needed to soak off my old acrylics and that I wanted dip on my natural nails, she kept trying to talk me into getting tips put back on. I told her no, I can see my natural nail growth under these so once it's soaked off I'll like the length of my natural nails with the dip. Well, when I sat down at her station she grabbed out her box of nails and I didn't know what she was doing at first but she then proceeded to use one of the nails to shove it under my acrylics where they were lifting and popping them off (painfully might I add) one by one. She was really hurting me and could tell I was in pain because I kept pulling my hand back when it would hurt but she would pull my hand back in and say "you alright". Mind you, there were about 3 other women in the salon who came in at the same time as me and they all had their nails being soaked off while being able to make a color selection while they wait. Why my experience was so different, I have no idea. Pure laziness is my guess. While she was filing, she also cut me in many different places on about 3 fingers that were actively bleeding during my appointment but she didn't seem to care or acknowledge it whatsoever. I did not include a picture of that since this was a couple of days ago and aren't very visible anymore. Overall, I will not be going back there unless I call ahead and tell them I do NOT want to be with this woman ever again. I'm only giving two stars because the final outcome isn't bad. read more

I got gel nails done here for my senior prom. They were nice and offered the student discount. The nails lasted for my prom, but a couple nails fell off about a week later. I was hoping they would last longer. The lady who did my nails was very nice and kept a good conversation while doing my nails. She took her time and was thorough with each nail. I would come back and try dip nails next time. The prices are normal like every other nail salon. The salon looks like it was updated with furniture and equipment. I'm in town with my husband for a hockey tournament and needed a quick mani. Glad I chose here! It was clean, they were really kind, and most importantly- they did a great job on my nails. Chad gave me a gel manicure and it was one of the best polish jobs I've ever had. He was really kind when I payed with my card but couldn't tip on it. They only take cash tips and I had only $1. I started digging for change and he was so gracious to say "no it's ok, don't worry about it". But I dug and found $5 b/c he totally deserved a tip! But thanks for being gracious and kind to a new customer. In response to some earlier reviews: A few of them were speaking their native language to one another and their kids, but it was never rude and didn't bother me one iota. Seriously, as long as they're not giggling and pointing at you why would that be a problem? I'm going there for them to do a great job on my nails, not make a best friend. I've been a loyal customer of Model Nails for over a year. This morning, i had an appointment for a dip mani and gel pedi with Lee at 10:30 AM which I had set earlier this week. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment, and then waited with no acknowledgement from the staff until 10:45. At this point, I left, and I will never be back. If you make an appointment, that should be honored. If this was the first time it happened, i would absolutely let it slide, but this is the second time it's happened to me. The first time, i waited more than 30 minutes after my appointment time, and they know how much it upset me. If you're running late, just tell me! At least get me started in the foot soaking tub? It's a shame this place has such terrible customer service and they don't care about their patrons because it has the potential to be a decent salon. read more

After waiting 25 minutes after calling for an appointment they finally sat me to start my fill. First thing i noticed was they had no pricing board so i already thought this seemed fishy but it was very full and busy so i let them continue my fill. my nails were perfect from my other salon and somehow the lady i had filed them uneven and different lengths. she also left me to sit there for ten minutes while she got up and talked to her coworkers in the back. none of the utensils looked clean or new, the UV gel nail dryer looked old and dirty, it wasn't pleasant to be there. she left one of my nails so sharp it scratched me later in the week multiple times. never going back. i recommend zen nail and spa just a few minutes away on main st. read more

This was the first time I experienced a salon like this: where the technicians have conversations amongst themselves in their native language, leaving you to uncomfortably speculate whether they are laughing about your callouses and cuticles. The nail polish starting chipping off in about a week - definitely not worth it! The massage chairs seemed newer but were scary and intimidating to control. The room is large and not very welcoming. A friend wanted to meet up for pedicures here one day after work. 3 of us came in at 5pm and there was no wait, they got us right into pedicure chairs. Each of the girls that did our pedicures were very nice and my nail tech did a good job on my toes. Not too rough like some other places, not pushy about buying the "deluxe" package, and didn't speak rudely amongst themselves rather than playing full attention to us. This was my first visit to Model Nails, and I was blown away by the service I received. Michael did an unbelievable job on my French manicure. Model is one of the of the only salons in the area to offer powder dip nails, which last longer than gels but without the damage of acrylic. I'm hooked! This salon is small but clean, and the staff is very friendly. I will definitely be back! I just tried out this place for the first time today and I can confidently say that it is the best nail salon I have ever had my nails done at. The woman who did my nails, Ann, did such a wonderful job. I got a manicure and a pedicure and it was only $40! I am used to paying 25-30 plus for just a pedicure. Also, she took her time. This was not like other nail salons were you feel like they are rushing to get you done. I got to soak my feet, she did a sugar scrub, pumas, lotion massage, and when she did my nails she also gave me a hand massage and a scrub to wash my hands with after the massage. She did a clear coat before applying the color and after applying the color on both hands and feet. I did not have to wait long for the service and the employees were all very welcoming. I am certainly going to make this my regular nail salon. Ann was so nice that she even helped me put on my shoes because my nails were still wet and I had to get going for class. This place does take appointments but I came in as a walk-in around 10am and they were not super busy, completely accommodating, and kind. If you want a well priced and not rushed experience go here, I was in there for an hour and a half and it was lovely to let myself relax. The chairs massage you too! read more

I was in town for a visit---was a walk in client here. Every other associate was happy except for the lady that I had. She seemed overly frustrated that I was there giving them business. I had a dip manicure on, which i knew took extra time to take off. I was there for a pedicure and manicure. She soaked my nails first before pedicure which wasn't ideal bc i was wearing a maxi dress (headed to a family party) and i tried to pick up my dress so it wouldn't get wet in the pedicure chair and the tinfoil from one of my fingers fell off and the lady made it known that it ticked her off by sighing extremely loud and rudely walked away to get another piece of tinfoil. Prior to this point, she needed to file off the dip--the file was so hot that out of natural instinct i pulled my hand away bc it was hurting me and naturally said "ow". The lady said "well i have to do this" i said that's fine but it's hurting my nails. She continued and when it burnt my other nail i again pulled away from a natural instinct, she rolled her eyes sighed out a deep breath and stopped the process all together making me feel extremely uncomfortable. At this point, I was really ready to just walk out. After she wrapped my fingers in tinfoil, I went back to the pedicure chair. She was so visibly frustrated with me that I could tell this was not going to be enjoyable. I opted out of the massage and the lotion on my feet bc I honestly was so uncomfortable. Then as she is sitting by my feet which are now painted she reaches up for my hand to take the tinfoil off i would assume. My hand could not reach as i was sitting back in the massage chair and she was so frustrated that she had to stand up and take the tinfoil off my nails. She showed her frustration through eye rolls and deep drawn out sighs and oh yes the absolute look of disgust on her face. I am not sure why she was in such a bad mood or if my nails were just a mess which can't be the case bc i get manicures and pedicures pretty much on a weekly basis. I really wanted to ask for a manager and complain but I am hoping the no tip and this review gets someone's attention as NO ONE should be treated as I was treated today paying for a service that is suppose to be enjoyable and relaxing and this was the complete opposite. read more

I had the opposite experience the last three times I was there. I found all the workers very engaging... And when I joked with them... They were joking right back with me. My 26 year old daughter was with me and she and I both agreed we liked the atmosphere and agreed to return again. I just celebrated my Birthday and was very pleased to have received a gift certificate from one of my children. As far as some of the employees speaking in their native language....I have never been to a Vietnamese Owned Nail Salon and not heard someone speak their native language. Unfortunate experience! Went in for a pedicure, water was too hot and I was told to keep my feet out until it cools down! Then 30 seconds later she told me "put your feet in" Water was still too hot, but i didn't complain. As she was was trimming my cuticles, she cut my skin on my toe and i was bleeding. If I hadn't noticed it she would not have said anything or disinfected the cut!! She acted like it was NOT a big deal and then spoke in her language to her coworkers about me! Very RUDE and unprofessional!!! I asked her not to dig her finger nails into my skin and she ignored me and continued to do it. I think If you are paying for a service you should leave feeling satisfied and if you are not satisfied you should be compensated in some way. I still paid for it and The Manager who knew what happened said "this happens often", and she is sure i won't get an infection. I am Very upset about how this was handled and will NEVER return to this nail salon!!! BEWARE!!! read more

Received the worst "pedicure" I have ever had in my life! Paid $50 for a gel pedicure that was nothing but a foot bath. The "technician" (and I say that lightly) did not massage or rub my feet . . she washed my feet and used a pumice. There was no scrub applied to my legs or feet and I left there needing another pedicure with all the callus and dead skin left on my feet. At the end when they should wrap your legs with hot towels all they do is lay one thin hot towel over both legs. When I showed another technician (who seemed to be in a manager role) she said that it costs extra to do the heels. Had they mentioned this I would have said go ahead . . however for $50 I think they should have included it in the "pedicure". Afterall isn't that what a pedicure is? Another friend who was with me had to have her gel polish removed and reapplied several times because it was incorrectly applied. I will never return and would never suggest this salon to anyone. We were there for a special day, my girlfriend's birthday and only one out of the three of us had a good experience. Thankfully it was the birthday girl! and at least the company was good and we still were able to laugh about it. read more

I have become a regular customer at Model Nails. The environment is very pleasant with recently added renovations that are beautiful and relaxing music is always playing. All of the technicians are quite friendly and professional. Gel manicures last at least 2 weeks. I always feel relaxed and rejuvenated on leaving the salon after a manicure.
