Do not go to this place! Ive been going here for years since i was in HS the last time i got my nails done i got gel tips it was by a girl i dont usually go to and i dont even know her name. She was very rough cut & burned mutiple of fingers to the point i was bleeding & it burned so badly when i put my hands under the uv light. She didnt even apologize. I went in to get the nails removed because 2 of my fingers looked infected. Ive never complained in all the years ive been going but when i told them it was an infection they kept acting like it was an allergic reaction and kept asking me if it was itchy i said no its infected and they just ignored me & acted like nothing and didnt even apologize. I had to go to the ER and found out i have cellulitis in 2 of my fingers and i am currently on antibiotics. Im so disappointed in the way I was treated. I will not be coming back! read more

Pedicure with the horrible chatting nail tech in Vietnamese sucked !!!!my whole pedicure experience,she talked so much with her two coworker. she massage my leg and foot for over 15 mins because she was too busy gossiping--- yes gossiping because as soon as the owner passed by she wouldn't say a word, her tone of voice would go from regular tone of voice to whispering. The TV was on she was talking her ass off!!!! I will not do a pedicure ! it's too much noise for me. If your looking for a quiet nail salon this is NOT it. I did my 2 week gel pink filling it was fast. The nail tech in the front table did all in less than 20 mins. My pedicure was a disaster... Until another client, that seem like a regular, told her that she never stop talking... She did not stop talking. I am not proud to say this, but this is the first time I have EVER not tipped someone who provides a service for me. I am on a mini getaway with my niece and I decided to get my nails done because she has an event and I was going to have a few hours alone. Let's cut to the chase. My appointment was for 4 pm, gel mani and regular pedi, $45. Great I get in at 3:58, I picked a color (rushed me to go get my toes done). I get into the chair and she literally did my pedicure in 12 minutes. That's including a half assed massage. There was no, and I mean NO, kind of extra care. I still have rough spots all on my heels from walking on the beach the last three days. At this point, I decided I wasn't going to get my gel manicure just a regular manicure because I wasn't paying $45 for her to rush the same way. On to my manicure. I tell the manager I am only getting a regular manicure, not gel. His response was "Okay Danielle but it will come off in 2-3 days." I was ready to just walk out. I didn't because clearly I'm an idiot & didn't want to be rude. I get my manicure, and just like my pedicure, it was RUSHED. It took her longer to get the gel I already had on from my previous manicure (which I will write a review on Maribel next week), and it was painful as hell. She painted my nails in a rush, as she did everything else, left the excess on, edges of my nails are rough. $35 for both regular mani and pedi. Never again. I was hoping that it would be a complete different experience, because my niece says it's a great spot. Guess I got the wrong person on the wrong day. I gave it two stars because the establishment was clean, and it provided free WiFi. read more

Where to start? I have always discredited the complaints about here since I have been a loyal costumer since high school. Let's just say many years, my child is now in HS. I called to make an appointment as per usual Kevin answers the phone I specifically let him know I would be going away and wanted a design. Since he dislikes doing the ones I pick he said he would give me to Tony"a new Tony" I reiterated I'm going away. I was assured by Kevin he was good and would do right by me. Low and behold appointment time comes. The application was messed and uneven but I thought maybe he files them a lot. Nope. As he was shaping my nails were still uneven and had an upwards tilt. When I expressed I wasn't happy Kevin came and put my hand in a C shape position to try to point them downwards. I explained no one holds their hand like that! That's not a natural position for a hand! Tony was now upset I was unhappy and refused to attempt to fix the issue nor did Kevin. I was not offered any type of resolution. I walked out and went and had them fixed at another local salon. Oh yeah and he cut the top of my toe with his dremel while taking the polish off my big toe to the point I was bleeding. Very upset with how I was treated as if I was crazy when I have never complained in all my years of being a customer. I will mot be returning. Terrible way to treat a customer. read more

although i love the owner and his wife, today will be my last time. helen is a great manicurist but she has lacked lately, yes she goes to work on your feet and nails! today when I wanted my toes and nails done she started with my dry ass manicure with no water or anything. Always loved Model Nails. I have been coming here for about 10 years. This is the only place I trust to do my eyebrows, I never go anywhere else. They do a great job. I do not go to one woman in particular, because all of them have waxed my eyebrows very well. It's always very quick service and reasonable prices. I typically just walk in and will be seen within 5-10 minutes. Also pedicures are great here as they last me for numerous weeks at a time!! read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Had appointment but was still COMPLETELY rushed. They asked about 5 different time why I did not want gel instead of regular polish. I told the nail tech that I wanted short, natural rounder nails and I got opposite. They look like cheap stick ons from cvs. Never lotioned my hands and GLOBBED the nail polish on while nail polish splat alll over. I've had acrylic plenty of times and she skipped sooo many steps. Never even buffed my nails at the end of filing. Horrible. Completely rushed and disappointed that I paid what I did for the job that I received. Walked out with dry, bleeding cuticles. I went in for a mani pedi with my daughter.. I wanted gel for both hands and feet and the guy kept arguing with me telling me it would be more money to the point I said I would pay up front.. not sure what his reasoning for trying to get me to get a cheaper service but let's get to the point. The woman who did my nails drilled my nails so far down for a freaking manicure that my nails are soft to the touch and peeling after the gel came off. The gel lasted THREE days and my left middle finger peeled up with almost a fungus.. the gel had green under where it lifted. I went in there with perfect healthy nails and now I will wait at least two months to be able to have healthy non fragile nails. I hate this place. I can't describe my frustration with the people who work there and the damage they did to my nails. If you are reading this thinking of going there consider yourself lucky for finding a REAL review and choose another salon. You could not pay me to go back. My daughters nails didn't even come out nice and because she is 3 they didn't do a top coat. I spent $80 for literally the worst service. read more

Model nails has been my go to nail salon for years. Once your find your people you can always expect great work. Kevin runs the place and sits right in the front and he remembers everyone's name and their families and is always asking about them. He always finds time on the schedule to accommodate you and follows through if he's going to call you back with any open slots from cancellations. I had been getting my nails and toes done there but have recently moved to just toes and waxing. I go to Helen for my pedicures and I am never disappointed. She takes her time with cutting my nails (my nails tend to grow into the sides) and exfoliating. They are definitely not known for their massaging so if you are looking for a good foot and leg massage, this might not be the place for you but their work is quality. Helen also waxes my eyebrows and I've never loved having my eyebrows waxes, I always felt like the technician didn't really get the shape right and would wax off any progress I was making on growing the hair out but Helen gets me and knows what I'm looking for with shape and thickness. I have had less then great experiences with certain technicians there, not everyone is as great at Helen and Kevin but if you're looking for a good manicure and pedicure those are your go to team. Helen is mostly pedicures and waxing, she's done a basic manicure for me a few times if I'm going somewhere or just want my nails and toes to match but if you're looking or gel or acrylics, definitely make an appointment with Kevin. And I would recommend an appointment. They are usually pretty busy so walking in will usually leave you with someone else because Kevin and Helen are almost always booked so I would call ahead, Kevin is good about making room for people. This was my 2nd time visiting modern nails. I just moved to the area and was hoping I didn't have to drive to Perth Amboy for my nails each time. Which I have been going to for 10 years with zero complaints. The first time I went in for a pedicure and pink and white fill with my mother. During the pedicure it got so uncomfortable as the techs were going off in Vietnamese and staring at our faces and literally laughing to the point where I had to ask if there was a joke we were missing out on. Pedicures finished and I walked to the pink and white filling process and was relieved that not all of their techs were jerks. John was a delight ! Did an awesome job and was super polite! Finally a nail salon close to home with quality service I thought dismissing the awful behavior from the pedicure techs. My mom with a different tech decided she wouldn't be returning but I loved John, so planned to return. Well...my second time in I was here for just a pink and white filing (powder), I was sent to Kathy as John said he would be a while. Still so sweet and friendly came over and connected my phone to wifi said hello and chatted and went off to his customer. Love that guy! Now Kathy !!! Starts doing my nails and filed the shit out of skin and burned me to the point where I flinched and let out an "ouch"!!! Yanks my hand and continues no apologies no nothing! File burns another finger - I didn't even bother this time since she seemed so cold. She continued to grab pink gel and give me a pink fill and I'm thinking "ok way to ask me if I wanted to do gel instead of powder which clearly is what u filed off" then pulls out white gel POLISH for my white fill and I said ..."no i don't like gel polish, can u do a white like the pink" and here comes the Vietnamese voice finally bitching to the owner Kevin. Kevin goes off saying "what do u want" I responded with exactly what I walked in and asked u for a pink and white FILLING. He says "well u have to tell us that", um...sorry when I walked in I said "pink and white filling please" he says "well that can mean gel polish what u want will be another $55" are u serious??!!...who the f fills polish ??!! So as I got super turned off I said "polish isn't a fill, I came in here with pink and white powder and expected to get a fill" I got frustrated and said just finish the pink and let it be. No white polish needed. I turned around clearly upset and he has the nerve to tell the they customer "people come in here and don't know what they Want" so I turned around and said "I been doing my nails the same way for 10 years I know exactly what I want, I didn't know that I needed to tell a professional nail tech what a pink and white filling means, which clearly isn't gel polish" he rants in Vietnamese and I told him no need to be unprofessional and go off in ur language. He finished his customer and walked off with a stank ass attitude while john kept coming over and apologizing and while this Kathy c*** kept burning my damn skin off. Your employee shouldn't be apologizing for something he didn't do Kevin, as a business owner u need to learn how to be professional and be apologetic when a mistake is made and offer suggestions to fix it either now or next time. Ur stank ass cocky attitude won't get u far, and the irony that when I first sat down u were already complaining about another customer who always wants her color changed every other day. Isn't that good for ur business ? Never would I ever return to ur place again. Too bad john doesn't run the show, if he did ur salon wouldn't be half empty all the time. He was cordial enough to continuously apologize and say come on please come back I love you, please smile. How pathetic for u Kevin. Ur employee knows how to keep customers while ur stuck up self walked off to gossip with the pedi techs. This place should be condemned by the board of health. None of the tools used were sanitized prior to my manicure. I couldn't understand a word the manicurist said which was not helpful considering I received a manicure that was not done the way I wanted it, or with the colors I wanted. And when I spoke up about this, both the owner and the woman doing my nails were very rude. In addition, my nails were filed and left with rough edges. I will never go back there. read more

I came in here because my mom got her nails done a week before and said they were decent. WELL, to say the least I have to disagree. I got a gel manicure which on my nails usually last 2 1/2- 3 weeks, and 3 days they were already chipping. They girl drilled so much on my nails that they are beyond weak, never had this problem at any other nail salon. I got a pedicure, which was ok. Lasted about 10 minutes, she barley rubbed my feet or took any of the dead skin off. BUT, the worst are my eye brows. I have thicker eye brows, so I just asked to get them trimmed.
