Nice set-up, but it's definitely a house turned into a business. You order in a food truck style themed inside when you walk through their front door, beer in the left, food in the right. Food was very good! This then leads you into a spacious backyard that has plenty of stuff for kids to keep themselves entertained and run around. Good amount of shaded seating. Big Koi pond, cornhole, giant connect 4 and what have you..staff at the front door is very friendly but don't come outside very often. But you can also sit inside, there is a small amount of seating in there as well. Oh, and beer is good for a newer place, they had a brown! Rare these days. Wow!! This place is absolutely amazing and such a cute little gem of a brewery in a small town like Orangevale. What I love the most about this place is how homey it feels. Immediately I was greeted by staff and the sweetest lady took my order, I forget her name but she was a teacher in the area and mistaken me as one of her previous students. Regardless, she gave me some wonderful recommendations and I took her up on the Russian Mushroom Short Rib Pasta dish they had there. It was heavy for spring time but absolutely delicious. And to know all of this was made in house (including the pasta noodles themselves), it was well worth the money and coming back again. Everything is decently priced there as well, and the beer is fantastic!! Their backyard seating area is also very cute and whimsical almost with lots of seating. I saw a lot of children there so it seemed like a family friendly spot as they had games like corn hole to play outside. Also, I highly HIGHLY recommend trying their ice cream balls. The strawberry shortcake one is fantastic and they cut in half for my friend and I to share. The food was unique I chose my wife's plate as well as mine you had two choices. I chose the one with a fluffy bread like shell for a taco stuffed with meat and sauce and vegetables. It also came with a beet salad and I have to say it was one of the best things I have tasted and I don't Carr for the dirt tasting vegetable, but it was well prepared with sauce and spice yum. It also came with a bowl of Ramen with porkbelly meat and the soup flavor was so so so good.,but wait there's more it also came with a desert of your choice my wife chose the ice cream ball it was a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream inside a chocolate brownie..yum I got the donutholes stuffed with tiramisu the espresso and ittalian custard had such flavor yum...While eating we also purchased 4 beers 2 ciders and 2 of there in house made beer..I will definitely be coming back. What an unexpected treat! I visited Mode tonight and enjoyed a delicious gluten free pizza. The sauce was wonderful - spicy and flavorful. The GF cauliflower crust was substantive and bread like - not cracker thin and crunchy like so many GF pizza crusts. And a special treat was the zeppole - tasty cinnamon/cardamom GF donut holes. First time visiting and we were looking forward to it. However, male owner was not the friendliest and kinda ruined our experience. Honestly....we went in excited! The owner was working....he didn't act or seem like he was interested in being there and that made me sad and uncomfortable. We brought my cousin who's an award winning brewer and consultant and it just wasn't what I thought it would be. They talk a good talk about the kitchen but much of their food is premade...that doesn't cater to "making food fresh" or people who have allergies or dislikes. We ate here today based off reviews. We were all extremely disappointed in the food. We ordered the margarita pizza, the Panini sandwich, the fried artichoke, carnitas pasta and the zeppole. The ONLY thing that was good was the zeppole. The pizza was like eating cardboard. Yuck. The sandwich was okay, the past was way too salty. Artichokes were okay however very greasy which I guess is expected. Beer was good. Won't be back to this place unless it is just for the beer and the outdoor patio. The beer is not my style; it pours with a nice 3/8s head but it quickly dissipates and the mouthfeel is almost flat. I appreciate a more carbonated beverage. Tried this place out with my roommates. It has a small indoor area and a large naturally shaded outdoor space which is nice but still rough at 100+ degrees. The food was solid the beers were interesting (variations on the standard IPA/Lagers you get in most places now). The food has been outstanding the two times we have gone but the beer had a bitter taste. During both visits we tried a variety of beers and they all were not smooth or refreshing. Wife and I got takeout for date night. Short Rib Ragu, Hog Wild, the God Father, Vampire Slayer, and the Zeppole for dessert. While we were waiting we had the Swashbuckler and Day Tripper. Both were excellent. The Day Tripper is a Hazy but not your typical Hazy IPA. It's more full bodied. Modes spin on a Hazy. The Swashbuckler has a clear and distinct blueberry smell and taste on the back end. Everything was EXCELLENT. We will definitely be back. Foresee this place being a nice post mass visit and a poppin summer hang out. Love the Koi pond in the back patio. Saw at least 2 Koi. Big guy and a small dude. I have gone there several times and have enjoyed it very much. The outside area is really nice. Fun games for adults and kids. The food is delish. I've had several items and haven't been disappointed. The only issue I have had is the beer. It is good don't get me wrong, but it can really be colder. I don't know if their refrigeration isn't cold enough but when poured there is a lot of head which is usually from not being cold enough. Tastes flat also at times. read more
