Let's start this off with a couple of facts. One, I always give places second chances, because I know life happens. Sometimes service is rough and that's out of the staffs' hands. Two, I am a millennial who strives to have compassion for my fellow 20-somethings who are living and struggling in this expensive town to work and earn money. That being said, I will never go back to the Mod Pizza in Napa. This was their 3rd chance for me. Every time I have placed an online order, I have had to wait a ridiculous amount of time upon arriving at or after my pick-up time to actually get the food. Tonight, I placed my order at 8:10 to pick up the pizzas at 9:10-an hour early to ensure that I wouldn't have to wait when I arrived. I got there at 9:15 and was told my pizzas were cooking. I sat down and was watching the staff. They were casually talking with a friend/customer, showing him how the pizza crusts were made. I then sa them prep my pizzas. Yes, the ones that were supposedly cooking. By 9:30, I was really tired of watching them socialize and hang out. Between 9:30 and 9:45, my pizzas were taken out of the oven. The employee who told me they were cooking didn't bother to let me know they were ready. Granted, 40 minutes had passed so she probably forgot who they belonged to. When I finally walked out at 9:45, I was so done. What's more, they burned my brother's pizza (see the picture). Like I said, I won't be going to this Mod ever again. read more

There is only one girl that does her job with a smile. The other ones seem to be in a daze and upset. They should wear hair nets. There was a young lady with her hair flying all over forward when preparing the pizza. It wasn't even that busy and they seem to be upset while working. So these guys are like sloths. There is a short haired blonde gal there that always wears a bandana on her head and she is the most un-energetic person I have ever encountered in my life. Like she never said says hello or is always like you are disrupting her day for her to help you. I know right now it's tough getting help but come on, sometimes no one is better. On top of all the "don't really care if you are here or not" attitude, they screwed up the whole order. One pizza, how do you screw that up? Ordered MOD size pizza and came out tiny. Asked the girl at the register why so tiny she said that the shift the night before left out the dough and they are all coming out "wonky". If I could give negative stars I would. Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Placed an online order that was supposed to be ready at 7:15 pm. Arrived at 7:08, they just started to make the pizza. I sat down and waited taking it in stride. I was listening for my name. Finally at 7:35, I inquired about the order to get told that it was ready. I was flabbergasted. They knew I was waiting and didn't bother to get my attention. I left pissed only to find out that they didn't include my desserts. Customer service is lacking and they have poor attitudes. They were insolent and nonchalant. read more

What a fun concept for pizza at Mod! You walk in and are faced with their menu to pick from. Pizzas and salads. Customers take a few steps to their left and find menu prices. Staff stands behind glassed counters & starts making the pizza you ordered. Pizzas have catchy names, i.e. Dillon James, Dominic, Sunshine Lucy (I think!?) In addition, staff will put on other pizza ingredients as you wish. Next, turn right at the corner to pay. Above cash register is menu for beverages. It's crazy fun to create your own pizza. Thin crust is pleasing. Not as many carbs. Enjoy pizza when it's done in the oven. Nice. I cannot comment on Mod salads b/c I haven't tried the salads. Next time? Maybe I can take a break from pizza. MOD Pizza is a solid addition to Napa. It's the Subway / Chipotle / Pieology / Blaze model - pick out a pie size, load it up with the toppings you want, they fire it for 2 min and voila. Pizza. It's a beautiful thing. So why only 3 stars? Because it is SLIPPIN'. They started out gung ho and engaged, good customer service, friendly - and now it's like you are inconveniencing them. They have 20 people "working", but 17 are just hanging out yapping, half of the time ignoring customers or carrying on conversations like you're missing. It kind of reminds me of working at a record shop that had the slogan "Fast. Friendly. Service. Pick one." Funny then, but bad look for a new restaurant. Will I eat there? Sure. Do I wish they'd get their shit together? Yeah - it'd get them another star. read more

A mini portion is perfect for one. I also got their garlic strips with their Sri-rancha dipping sauce (also good for the pizza) Since they're a Seattle-based chain, of course they have bottles of Sriracha and House Wine (out of Walla Walla) When I came in, they seemed to be having a shift change&there was poor communication. They nearly forgot my Sri-rancha dipping sauce, and my "Tristan" wasn't topped with the pesto drizzle. Still, it came out good&hot. For the most part, the service was friendly. Like Pizza Guys, they're one of the better pizza chains (and today is National Pizza Day) They get compared to Subway&Chipotle, but they're superior to both. It's such a shame. This place has good pizza and "no-name" cakes but the service is horrendous. This is actually a accumulation of dozens of visits over a 3 years. Here's a few, mine you there's more than listed.... One time we went through picking our pizza toppings and I said "light sauce". I noticed that the young man helping me put two whole scoops on my pizza, while the young woman helping my wife only put one scoop and my wife didn't ask for light sauce. I understand that this could be a simple mistake so I said "I noticed that you used two scoops, can I have less sauce please?" The young man looked at me, furrowed his brows and uttered in a raised and codicending voice "you asked for light sauce we usually use 4 scoops, you want it lighter than this?" (no they don't, I've been here enough times to know that one or two scoops is the norm, depending on who you get making your pizza), I said yes, in which the young man rolled his eyes at me and took the tray holding the over-sauced pizza and slammed it into the rack and used half a scoop and asked in a condescending voice "is THAT light enough for you?". At my confirmation he huffed away. My wife went in only to get a couple of desserts, she waited by the register. There were 3 young people behind the counter, one helping a customer, the other two talking while one poked the pizza's in the stove, all three made eye contact with her, the two at the stove she even waved at. The one seemingly doing nothing but chatting walked into the back and the one poking at the pizzas never let go of the pizza pole and just stood there. Once the one making the customer's pizza was done he put the customer's pizza at the register and walked to the back, taking out his phone as he entered the doors. Both my wife and the customer left standing there. My wife left after looking at her phone and seen that she had waited 8 minutes. I had gone to the register to ask for a box to go and to buy a couple cakes. Two employees helping customers make pizzas and one young woman right infront of me texting on her phone looked up and me and said "we'll be with you in a moment" then she walked to the back while still texting. Altogether the employees seem very rude and do not care about customers at all. I'm not sure I want to come back to this location. I have not had the same issue at other Mod Pizza locations. read more

I visited Mod Pizza in Napa a couple of times in hopes that the employees would change their food handling and that's a negative. I really disliked the fact the person putting the pizzas inside the oven was touching the pizzas without gloves even while cutting them. The other times I visited were unpleasing as well due to the fact that employees were touching their phones and then touching the condiments. This will be the last time I visit mod Pizza in Napa. I hope the mangers or leads pay attention to this issue. So if anyone gets sick from eating this pizza you know why. read more

Finally quit ordering from them since the last time they gave me a regular pizza when I ordered a gluten free pizza and was sick for 3 days. 4 months later decided to give them another shot. Good pizza, fun to create your own combination of pizza or custom made ones, they come out great! Thin crust pizzas with all the toppings and sauces you want. The other cool thing I liked is they have a wide selection of drinks to choose from like shakes, floats, fountain drinks, some beers. I love this place so far. They've only been open for a little over a week and I've already eaten there four times. It helps that it's like 3 minutes from my house. I started going during their soft opening. The kitchen was a bit disorganized, but that's to be expected at first. They fumbled a bit, but the pizza gets made and it's absolutely amazing. They're also improving over time, which I was a bit worried about at first. I love the Caspian and the Calexico (which is SPICY). The price point is also awesome. Love this place! Yes, you might have to wait a bit for your pizza but the pies come out so yummy and hot! Love the fact that I am able to add ANYTHING to my pie and don't need to share it with ANYONE! The pies sizes are perfect. They have a smaller size for kids and slightly larger size for adults! The staff work very hard! We especially liked WILLIAM!! He is very friendly & helpful! Made us feel like we're home! Would definitely recommend this place!! Went in 20 minutes before ordering when we walked in girl who was working said the employee name was Jackson he immediately said we close in 20 minutes what the hell. He then assumed our order and prepared the pizza I then asked him if those were mega since he did not even come up to the counter to ask what we were getting. I was being nice when I asked him if those were mega he then rolled his eyes threw the dough into the rack next to him and went back to remake them. The girl who was there with him yelled and said " I told you to just ask them." When she said that he told her we close in 15 minutes i didn't think anyone was coming in. He was very annoyed & surprised that people would still come in while they were open? At the end I asked the women for his name she asked why with an attitudesI let her know because you should be wearing name tags for this reason so I do not have to ask? I let her since she needed reason for me to ask that he was rude and wanted his name. When we were leaving a taller girl walked in with black hair and went to let him know I asked for his name. He immediately ran out from the back while him & and the tall girl both looked into our car and yelled something from inside to us. He was clearly upset and grabbing his phone to make a call. I don't understand why you would be upset for serving people while you are open? It is your job to stay open and serve during company business hours. I'm a manger and have worked in the food business for years and that behavior was very immature from "Jackson." I would understand if I was trying to walk in 1 minute at least before closing but 20 minutes before along with two families ordering after us? Why was he surprised people would come in if they're open and assume someone's order? It's common sense? Disappointing. LATE, WRONG ORDER, and BURNT. Pizzas weren't ready for pickup until 20 minutes after promised (40 minutes after ordered). When I got them home, I saw the THICK crust pizza (Mega Dough) I ordered and paid for was made as a THIN crust. Plus, the crust on one was burnt. The organization of the employees was lacking. The guy on the pizza oven (big guy, curly hair) was in no hurry getting the 10 pizzas into the oven. I was assuming he had some sort of system and that his casual ignoring of what he was doing was because he knew what he was doing. Wrong. My pizza came out burnt along one side. "I can cut that part off if you'd like..." was the comment from the cook. Ummm, thanks? At least he copped to burning my pie. My experiences with MOD haven't always been perfect but when things weren't perfect their staff & managers have always made up for that. They are one of the only pizza places in Napa that offer vegan cheese. Both crusts - whole wheat & gluten- free - are vegan and they offer over a dozen different veggies that can be added. They also offer a couple vegan finishing sauces including the delicious fig glaze. Ordering online is quick & easy and there is a section for notes so I can remind them that I want the pizza 100% vegan. They also replace their gloves after preparing a non-vegan pizza so there is minimal cross-contamination! The nutritional info is on their website so I can also confirm that what I'm ordering is vegan. I love it! Ordering food should always be this easy. For $9.13 I get a delish pizza that is piled high with veggies & dairy free cheese. What's not to love?! read more

We ate here two days ago and compared to the disgusting employee atmosphere, service and experience we had at the Concord location (see my review 7/2018) the Napa location was a million times better as my wife had promised it would be. The only thing stopping a 5-star review is the line was almost unbearably long but that was probably more timing than anything as we walked in behind two sizable families. The pizza builders were a bit slow but they were doing a good job communicating and the cooking staff was keeping pizza's moving right along. The local beer on tap was a couple of very good offerings from a local Napa brewery/gastropub including a phenomenal IPA that I had to go back for a second glass of. Good pizza, good vibes. Mod is definitely one of the new style pizzerias. The whole vibe from the time you enter let's you know this is not your typical Mom & Pop place. There's loud music & not a single television in sight. The seating is a little bit industrial, with not much padding on the chairs & a polished cement floor. Most of the tables seat four & while I guess you COULD string a few tables together for a larger group, you probably should choose somewhere else if you're looking for a place to take the team after a game. No rooms to reserve for parties here. Cheese & pepper shakers are kept on a shelf along with various bottles of sauces & napkins next to the soda machine & iced teas. Grab what you need & bring it back to your table. The food is really what sets this place apart. They have a number of different pizzas you can order by name, or you can just choose your own toppings, with three sizes to choose from; mini, mod, or their larger size. All of their pizzas come on a flaky thin crust & cook in their fiery oven. I like mine a little on the crispy side. Pizzas cook up pretty quickly, too so there's not a long wait. You can add on any of their toppings to whatever you choose. They also have salads, which I highly recommend here. Whether it's their Caesar, garden or house salad, they all are flavorful & again, you can add any toppings into your salad as well. I like to add kalamata olives & bleu cheese crumbles with bleu cheese dressing. The restrooms are in the back of the restaurant & have always been clean & well stocked every time I've used them. It's in a busy shopping center along with a Chipotle & Habit Burger, among other businesses & it can be a little bit difficult to find a close parking space. All in all this place is good for small groups. read more
