My experience at the mod pizza today was not good. The food itself is great. Although I wish there were more vegetarian options to choose from. However, the customer service was horrible. There was one woman that managed to be so miserable. That she took it out on my family as well as her fellow co workers. I honestly think that she was under the influence of something as well. Regardless, she was wearing a blue shirt, grey leggings, a hat, and had a septum piercing. She told one of her co workers to "Go away" so rudely when that co worker was trying to help her with the transaction. Furthermore, she mumbled vague and hard to understand questions of what we ordered. And she was clearly frustrated at me because I couldn't understand what she was saying. It isn't my job to keep track of what's on the order! If anything I wouldn't have minded helping her but she just came across as a jerk to me. She did not ask if we wanted drinks and after initially paying I had to ask for drinks. Where she took a deep breath and I can sense she thinks I am idiot in her mind after asking for drinks. Clearly she didn't want to be there and she was taking it out on me, my family, and her co workers. This was supposed to be a dinner for my upcoming birthday. I am just glad that I had a nice conversation with my family regardless of this horrible experience. But it was just so horrible that I had to go through this in order to just have some pizza with my family. I honestly am considering never going here again. It was our first time coming here and once you walk in, its a nice chill relaxed vibe. We thought the Managers Angie , Mikey and staff Kyle were all really nice and helpful in explaining how to order . Everything looked and tasted fresh. We ordered a Mod Pepperoni pizza and it tasted so delicious and cheesy and I like how you can add what ever topping to your pizza/ salads. We also got the Italian chop and with the zesty dressing , which was really bomb. We were traveling from a couple hours away and would definitely make future trips back here. We have some pizza places where we live that have a similar concept of the walk up choose your toppings things but it's no where near the friendly good quality that we got coming here. Whoever "manager" Emilio is at mod pizza, you shouldn't be in customer service nor should you talk to people in the manner which you did. I had an issue w my pizza being wrong (filled w chicken, I don't eat meat & was missing another topping) so I call to dispute it since the receipt was correct, & the level of disrespect I was met with was insane. Not to mention incredibly unprofessional (I get it's just a pizza place but you're dealing w peoples food, it's not unlikely a mistake would be made). Flat rate for pizza size and you can add as much toppings as you want and they have a wide wide variety of toppings. 4 stars because sauces could be better tasting and to add more of it. Pizza is cooked food and taste very good. It's not heavy even if you eat the entire 11" regular size. My very first time at Mod Pizza on October 21, 2021, there was a splatter of spilled sauce in the walkway. I walked in and didn't get acknowledged. The seating area and the floor was disgusting and dirty. As I waited in line, I noticed the glass in the food serving area was very dirty, and the food looked old and hasn't been replaced. There were two people in front of me, and I waited patiently. The workers still didn't acknowledge me and decided to take four online orders while making me still stand there. When there was no one else behind me. I told them, "no, thank you," and left to drive to Pieology, and got delicious pizza. I was promptly acknowledged when I arrived. You have to do better because you'll lose more customers. read more

This is the second Chipotle-like pizza chain that I've visited. Most foodies would probably be surprised that neither of the two is named "Pieology." A quick Google search reveals that MOD Pizza is one of the older members of this particular pizza niche. It was first launched in 2008 by someone who would go on to create Pieology Pizzeria and Project Pie. I had high expectations from such an established chain, and they were generally met. This particular location used to be a Dickey's Barbecue Pit, and it bears no resemblance whatsoever to the old occupant. It's bright and airy inside and there's plenty of seating both inside and outside. The employees do greet you when you enter but aren't as fanatical as Blaze Pizza about providing unexpected table service, or even saying goodbye when you leave. It's fine with me though, and it reflects more on Blaze than it does on MOD. I chose the standard 11-inch pizza ($7.87, a competitive price). Instead of starting with one of the 9 "classic pizza" menu items and adding free extras, I simply ordered toppings to my liking. I was lucky enough to be the only customer in line at the time, so I went down the counter at a relaxed pace. I got a red sauce based, followed by a layer of mozzarella (the only cheese at the start) and a helping of basil. I went all-out on the meats, with pepperoni, chorizo, bacon, Italian meatballs, chicken, and salami piled on the thin crust. I didn't slack on the veggies either, with mushrooms, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, red onions, and roasted garlic joining in the fun. After a sprinkle of rosemary and some additional gorgonzola, asiago, and feta, the masterpiece was ready for the oven. About 4-5 minutes later (probably a good thing vs. the quicker cook time at Blaze), they called my name. I had been looking at the finishing sauces, and I became very intrigued by the balsamic fig glaze. Since the employee couldn't describe it very well, they simply provided it on the side. The first thing that must be noted: unlike at Blaze (and Pieology, according to friends), the center of the crust does not sag. I attribute this to the longer cooking time, and they managed not to burn the crust either (a little char perhaps, but that's fine). Secondly, they decided to cut it into quarters, which was only awkward for a moment before I got used to carrying it. This wouldn't work for kids or others with smaller hands, so hopefully they'll further subdivide a pizza into eighths if requested. Thirdly, great ingredients all around. Veggies tasted fresh, meats were savory and seasoned, cheeses were cheesy. Finally, the balsamic fig glaze that I drizzled over the pizza was the unexpected star of the dish. It's a little sweet and otherwise vinegary, both of which are lacking in the basic pizza, and it's not offered at any other similar chains that I'm aware of. Other options on the menu (and prices for this location): entree-size salad at the same price as the 11-inch pizza; side salad or 6-inch mini pizza ($4.87, family-size salad or "double" crust 11-inch pizza ($10.87); a so-called pizza salad ($9.87); a cheese-only pizza ($6.37); gluten-free crust (price+$2.00); garlic strips or cinnamon strips with choice of savory or sweet dips as appropriate ($2.97); local beer and wine (glass = $4.97, pitcher/carafe = $11.27); milkshakes ($3.57); floats ($2.57); fountain drinks ($1.97). With a crust that holds up to your choice of whatever toppings you want, MOD seems to be the ideal realization of the fast-casual, customizable pizza genre. I really hope that they keep expanding since they're not yet in the area where I spend most of my year. I could use some sturdy crusted pizza in my lunch life. read more

Probably one of the best pizza places I've been to in a while. We've heard of MOD Pizza before but have never had the opportunity to try it. So when we saw this place we definitely jumped on the chance to check it out The workers a re friendly and upbeat which is always a big plus. We approached the counter and though we were unsure at first on how to order, the worker behind the counter explained to us how everything works. You can either order from the menu and add more ingredients or create your masterpiece (There's no extra charge for adding other ingredients). Though there was a long line, we went through it fairly quickly and we had our food in under 10 minutes. I ordered the "Tyler" and my wife had the "Dillon James" (thin crust) both of which we enjoyed very much. The ingredients are fresh and the pizza is cooked inside a fire oven. The manager Leslie came up to us and asked us how we're doing. She was friendly and was working hard cleaning after customers who are less than helpful in bussing their mess. MOD Pizza was great in my opinion. It was like other pizza places where you can create your own pizza and it would be baked and ready for you in a few minutes. I've seen a lot of those places appear in the past few years. Parking was plentiful and there was no line when my brother and I came on a Saturday before 1pm. There were a lot of different pizzas to choose from as well as creating your own pizza with all the ingredients they had available. Each menu item had ingredients so that was helpful to decide since I didn't do any research prior to coming here (aka looking at their website for the menu). The staff were friendly and helpful when trying to decide what was good. I ordered a Mad Dog (MOD-sized pizza) ($8.27) and a fountain drink ($1.97). The Mad Dog pizza was one of their popular pizzas on the menu. There was indoor and outdoor seating, but we decided to sit at one of the high tables. Our pizzas were ready after a few minutes and we picked them up at the counter. My Mad Dog pizza looked good and was tasty to me. It wasn't super greasy or anything like that. My brother's customized pizza also tasted good. The MOD size was enough for one person and I was able to finish my pizza. I had lunch with a group of friends and their kids in Morgan Hill recently. We decided to give MOD Pizza a try. Some people in my group had eaten at various locations of MOD before, but this was my first visit. This MOD Pizza is in the big center with Target on Cochrane, right off of 101. The restaurant looks bigger than it actually is. The super high ceilings and glass windows help open the space up. It's nice and spacious with plenty of room between tables. Our noisy group of 5 adults and 8 kids under the age of 6 pulled some tables together along the wall. Then we took turns ordering our food and getting drinks. The staff helping us were friendly and efficient. I was amazed at how fast the pizzas were ready. If you work nearby, this would be a great, quick lunch spot. Everyone enjoyed their food, including the snobby foodie (yeah, that's me). The crust was thin and crispy and you can have your pizza with as little or much toppings as you want. My inaugural pizza started with the MOD red sauce. I opted for garlic, spinach, arugula, cheese, bacon, Canadian bacon, mushroom, olive, artichoke hearts, & tomato. It was good. I would totally come back the next time I'm in Morgan Hill. In fact, I liked it so much, I'll look on Yelp to see which locations are closer to me in SJ. read more

It would be like eating a kale flavored cake...that sounds terrible. Some things in this world are just meant to be by themselves. If you like pizza, you will love MOD (Made on Demand) Pizza. This place is like a Subway, but for pizza. You go in, choose the size of your crust, then tell them what toppings you want on your pizza. The toppings are unlimited. All the toppings are fresh too. They bake your pizza in a gigantuous oven in front of you in just a few minutes and out comes your blazing hot and fresh pizza(s). It's about $5 for a personal size pizza and about $8 for a regular size (11") pizza. I hope and pray that they will build an MOD Pizza restaurant in the Central Valley, namely Merced. I had heard rumors that MOD pizza was better than pieology for awhile now, but never went out of my way to try it. Pieology had opened up nearby my work, so I never ventured into the next city for build your own pizza. We had stopped here on the way to our drive into the central coast. I am so glad for the detour! This place is in a different league than Pieology. The guy at the counter was super friendly and explained to us a little bit of the menu after finding out it was our first time. The cool thing is that you can get a mini or a regular size or a double crust one for those that want to carb load. They take extra care on the crust by putting it on this sieve like plate to minimize the charred bits getting all under your crust. Their ingredient offerings are huge too! Props to uncommon toppings such as asparagus and broccolini! Yum!! I kind of over loaded my veg toppings on my mini, I'll just get a MOD size next time to feel less like I'm overloading. They also carry freshly made iced tea and two different lemonades, which should not be missed! The lemonades there are better than the lemonades you can get at Lemonades. The pizzas came out perfect. They cleaned the oven well, so no bitter charred remnants (coughpielogycough). The crust was thin and crispy as well.
