Every time I come to a Mod Pizza, I kick myself for not remembering how great it is. Yes, the pizza place down the street has hot and ready options, but for a few extra bucks and 5 extra minutes, I can have a 30-topping pizza made fresh to order! The ingredients are fresh and tasty and the dough is made fresh too. Our family also takes advantage of the gluten-free option as well as the dairy-free cheese. The regular thin crust is my favorite, and out of the oven it is super crisp. Lastly, the dining room during lunch on a Tuesday was low traffic, so I enjoyed my meal in a relaxed environment. Also, we took advantage of the BOGO educator discount and the team was nice about letting both my wife and I use the promotion, without needing her to come in to show her ID. This is a well run location and the team is friendly and accommodating, but that's what we've come to expect at all MOD Pizzas! read more

god food it's just usually pretty dirty and it makes it hard to find a spot cause the tables aren't bussed and the bathroom is the same, rarely paper towels....recommend just getting to go. they were out of coloring sheets for the kids too, not a big deal. what happened to the broccoli ‍ only 2 ppl working so when it gets at all busy seems backed up. that's probably cause someone was on break i believe but still that's pretty light staff for a chain restaurant like this i think during dinner hours. read more

I love MOD Pizza. The vibe rocks. The workers are super happy to be there and that makes the customers have a better experience. Today we attended one of the soft openings for the new Elgin location. They were slammed and yet the workers were still having fun, cheering and getting the crowd involved. We were there for just over an hour, in line and waiting for our three to go pizzas, and yet we didn't even feel the time pass. On to the pizzas, we got three MOD sized pizzas: One pepperoni, one custom like the works, and the Dillion James was as for me. The toppings were a tad on the skimpy side tonight, but that is understandable with the crowds. We didn't even follow in the assembly line as they just took our order and made them in a separate area. I loved the Dillion James, I'll definitely get it again with extra tomatoes next time. MOD is best enjoyed on the spot, as I feel all wood fired pizzas are. This location is so close to us, we will for sure be back! I feel like MOD pizza is worth 5 stars if you know how to navigate the menu. I noticed right away that MOD offers a white-sauce pizza, and I was super excited about it. Straight away I ordered the Dominic, but without onions. I was on a lunch break from work. I placed my order over the phone. I was surprised how easily the robotic ordering system was able to process my english and understand the modification I wanted to make. I pretty much work next-door so as soon as I placed my order it was time for me to take my lunch break and my pizza was just getting started as I walked inside. The vibe is pretty laid-back and the layout reminded me of a cross between Crocodile Lounge in Chicago and Jimmy Johns. Crocodile Lounge had the same pizza oven with the same tiling around the oven. That's about it. The music that was playing seemed like whatever was current with the hipsters. I shazamed track that was playing and I was surprised that it was a collaboration with Beck. I had no idea they were still cranking out albums. My pizza was obviously fresh, but I wish I would have mixed the Asiago cheese with mozzarella. The pizza was rather dry. The white sauce didn't seem to hold a candle to the pungent flavor of the asiago or the sauce itself just didn't have a flavor. I really couldn't tell. I miss Piece pizza in Chicago. I was only working in Elgin for this one particular day, but if I were to come back I would definitely keep trying to build my own pizza. I think I had the wrong mix of ingredients and I would work on finding the perfect combination. I feel like MOD's big selling point is the fact that they cater to one person that only wants a personal pizza. Not really for one large pizza to a family. Attached for your review, is the last pizza I will ever get from this place. There is a decent amount of crust with nothing on it, and maybe half the pizza (that's generous) had a tiny bit of cheese on it. The rest was over dry, sort of sauced, crust. You know, I could sit here and write a review trying to be empathetic because of the times and what not, but the fact of the matter is that this place wasn't busy when we ordered and unless the owner has instructed their employees to use less than standard recipe, there is no excuse for this. I am really sick and tired of places not having any pride in, or QA, with what they are serving. This is a pathetic excuse for a pizza and I will not return here, especially since this is the 2nd time it happened. When reported back to Mod about this, we got radio silence. Ridiculous. I had the Dominic "not a pizza" pizza. This was my first time here so I didn't know what to expect. They layer on so much cheese that I felt like I was eating a cheese brick. I didn't look close enough at the menu but my Dominic "not a pizza" pizza didn't include red sauce. The MOD stands for made on demand and they do have a setup of looking at the ingredients before they pop your pizza in the oven. The staff was really nice and engaging. If I do go back here I will tell them to hold onto 2 layers of cheese. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this location. We ordered the largest family sized salad and received a salad that was dinky and easily could have been eaten by one person. Listen, y'all- this place is good. You can put whatever junk you want on your pizza and they'll fire it up for you. Grab a beer or can of wine (beware, there's two glasses of wine in that can) and relax while your pizza gets toasted. There are lots of options for toppings, including multiple sauces which is nice if you are bored with regular sauce. You can be adventurous or conservative with your choices, but definitely try something new because that keeps things interesting. The atmosphere is very casual and laid-back. They have loud music playing, but it is good music and won't blow your ears off. The folks who work there are fabulous and friendly and I have never been met with a single frown. It's also very clean which means it may just pass a Gordon Ramsay inspection. There are lots of drink options for kids of all ages as well which is nice when I am in need of that can of wine but my kids need juice. I highly recommend this Mod Pizza for a filling and satisfying joy ride for your taste buds. read more

I really like their pizza. But the customer service, is awful. It seems like every time we go there is an issue. From burnt pizza, to giving our pizza away to someone else and acting like nothing happened, and to the last straw of yesterday, we pre-ordered our pizza, arrived 1 minute before the "done time", and at the counter they had no clue who I was. They asked me if I ordered from the right location, then looked dumbfounded when I showed them the email confirmation. I never got an apology, never an actual reason for it, just "Oh, it didn't print". She then took the 2 tickets to the beginning and let them sit for an additional 5 minutes. I finally asked for a refund, to which I was greeted with a look of confusion, and it took 2 people to just hand me back a receipt that said void, once again, not even a "sorry about the mistake"... Better than I expected. Wood fired pizza Made On Demand. It's a good concept. You enter the line, pick your crust, sauces, meats and other toppings, and they make your pizza in a few minutes. You can pick as many toppings as you like for the same price. We ordered 3 different pizzas. One thick crust, one regular, and one mini. Our toppings included Cheese, red sauce, sausage, pepperoni, onions and green pepper. All of the pizzas were hot with a nice crispy crust, and all of the toppings were fresh. We also got an order of garlic strips, and cinnamon strips. All of this was about $33 plus tax. Not cheap, but reasonable for the amount of food. I ordered, watched them build the pizzas, and left in approx. 10-15 minutes. They were done faster than I expected, and that's the best part of this place. If I had ordered from any of the other places, it would have been about an hour from order to eating. Here, less than 30 minutes including my drive. I'm pretty sure we'll be back. read more

This location just opened and I was excited to experience what all the hype was about. 1st time going the line was outside the door so we left. 2nd time we waited for about 15 minutes in line and the line didn't move so we left. 3rd time we placed an order online. We ordered Lucy Sunshine and Jasper. The two star review comes from the crust everything else was not so good. I would have given 1 star but the wood burning fire earned an extra star. The pizzas are inconsistent with their toppings. The Jasper had little cheese on some slices and no sausage or mushrooms on others. The Lucy sunshine was the same. Some slices had artichokes some didn't. I won't be going back to Mod Pizza, the time wasted in line or getting cold pizza for take out isn't worth my time. read more

When they get it right its 5 stars. Unfortunately i'd say right now that happens at about a 20% success rate, the other 80% of the time is generally failure with burned pizza and/or loooooong waits to order, then loooong wait to get it. So that is why I give it 2 stars. I keep giving them chances because I want them to be good but they can't seem to get it right. My last experience: Pizza 1 - supposed to be vegetarian, came with meat pieces on it Pizza 2 - burned and inedible (burning is a common issue) I think part of their problem is they are short 1-2 people often which results in the burned food, messed up orders and long wait times. I recently had a business lunch that I booked through DoorDash. Less than an hour before the lunch was supposed to be delivered to my account, DoorDash canceled my order! I started panicking and called MOD Pizza right away. Over the phone, they said never received the order and didn't know what happened. Once I got to the restaurant, the manager, Love, did everything she could to accommodate my order in 15 minutes! She and her team were amazing and I was able to get to my account with my full order with a few minutes to spare. Ok ok don't get me wrong here the food is amazing but the customer service is very lacking. When your told your order will be ready at a exact time and you still have to wait 10-15 min longer. This is completely unacceptable. Then having to go ask for our pizza rather than being called. Also the jerk behind the counter decided it was a great idea to argue with us about sauce on the side or on the pizza. Seriously?! Is it that much more work to put it on the side? I don't know. Where do I even begin? We get there at 6 and noticed the line was moving slow but didn't think much of it. By the time we ordered 3 pizzas and paid, it was 6:20. Ok, no big deal. Sat down and waited...and waited...and waited. We saw our pizzas go in the oven and we saw our pizzas come out of the oven...and then sit on the back counter for 15 minutes because apparently they were too busy to actually give the pizzas to the customers. People who ordered AFTER us got their pizzas BEFORE we did. FINALLY, our name is called. We go up and get our now cold pizzas only to discover that they accidentally gave one of our pizzas to someone else. And of course it had to be the pizza for my starving child who chose this place as where he absolutely had to have dinner. The staff said they would "remake" his simple cheese pizza ASAP. I guess for them ASAP means waiting another 20 minutes to actually assemble it and get it in the oven. The pizza FINALLY comes out of the oven but just sits there because there's no matching sheet for it. *shaking my head* Finally the staff member working the counter looks up and realizes I've been standing at the counter for a while and asks me what food item I am waiting for. I tell her that cheese pizza right there for my starving child who has been waiting 30 minutes for it. She gives me the pizza with an automatic sorry, but it wasn't sincere. And at this point, I was highly irritated and just wanted to feed my child. The overall impression of the staff working that night was slowness. Everything moved at a snail's pace and there was no sense of urgency until they started screwing up peoples orders. And even then, they didn't seem to know how to rally and self organize. Just total chaos. As for the taste of the pizza, I can't really give an unbiased opinion since 2 out of the 3 pizzas were cold by the time we got them and the 3rd pizza took 40 minutes to get. But I do know that I will probably never go back there again. read more

We came in late sat night and they ware out of double dough so they took care us us and gave us two pizzas to go for free and drinks on the house which is really nice customer service that you don't receive in many places anymore nowadays. A standard pizza costs only about $9 and you can get UNLIMITED toppings without increasing the price!!! So many yummy toppings too, including whole cloves of roast garlic. This location is amazing! I can say that until about June I had never even had a MOD pizza! Everytime I have visited the location on Randall rd in Elgin i have been completely satisfied! The staff is so friendly and attentive. The general vibe is light and fun! The pizza has always been fantastic! The things that have impressed me the most is how hard they are all working! Even when the line is down, the staff is filling the drink station, wiping off tables and most importantly they are asking customers how their meal was! I highly recommend this location!! read more
