I'd highly recommend a reservation here, as it gets quite busy. Our table had a variety of drinks and food, such as the pineapple mint margarita, flamboyancy, nachos, and lechon asado. We sticked with their Peruvian dishes. We ordered: Complimentary Cancha Lomo Saltado Arroz con Mariscos (Peruvian Seafood Risotto) The dish was fully loaded with seafood. I will definitely get the Arroz con Mariscos again and look forward to trying their Japanese dishes. I am already eyeing their ceviches.

Unfortunately the experience was very underwhelming and the food did not live up to the atmosphere or the hype. I ordered the Pisco & Shiso cocktail and there was a noticeable kick of spice that didn't really work with the drink and I couldn't taste any of the shiso either. Their beef anticuchos were the one thing we genuinely enjoyed, it was juicy and flavorful, and probably the only dish that stood out. Everything else was blah. The biggest disappointment was the fried rice, it was very oily and the chicken tempura on top tasted like frozen chicken nugget that have been air-fried. The ceviche was just okay, I have definitely had better elsewhere. It's a fun and lively place, I just didn't find the food worth coming back for.

Some pieces of steak were cut too big and the whole thing would come out with a bite, but it was tender enough to bite through. I think my sandwich only had one tomato so that was disappointing. I also ordered the key lime pie. I'm not a fan of meringue on key lime pie so I didn't eat that but the flavor of the pie was heavenly. Can't wait to try more things from La Lima!

I got home, took a bite, expecting that first taste of deliciousness, only to realize the cake wasn't even made properly. There was milk sitting at the bottom of the container, and while the bottom of the cake was soaked, the middle was DRY. Tres leches is a WET cake. It should NEVER be sold or served dry. Anyone who makes or eats tres leches should know the milk is supposed to soak THROUGH the cake, not just sit at the bottom of the container. I'm very disappointed. I don't get to treat myself often, and when I do, I expect to get what I paid for. It's a milk cake. It should be WET. Period.

I loved Viva Chicken in Ballantyne...but for some reason, I haven't been back in years…read more This time, I tried this Elizabeth location with my husband...and I have to be frank. This location paled in comparison to that at the much larger and nicer Ballantyne location. Of course that was like 6 years ago? First of all, aesthetically, this place just felt a bit off. The walk-up to the counter was very narrow...and the layout felt a bit too narrow and tight. Also, the menu selection seemed much smaller than I remembered it. At the Ballantyne location, I also remember that they had this Sangria drink...but not here. They did have 2 juice flavors...but nothing too exciting. In any case, I had the same item that I enjoyed before...the Peruvian Fried Rice. Again, it looked and tasted a bit weaker than I had remembered it. I did enjoy the 2 sauces that greatly helped the bland flavor of the rice. Also tried their Mini Churros...which were quite good. My husband enjoyed the Rotisserie chicken, and his 2 sides...but he felt the same as me, in that the layout felt tight and awkward. Overall, we thought the foods were good enough to return. We just didn't find the place very comfy.
