How can you not love this place? The options are endless. The online and in person kiosk ordering is easy. The good tastes authentic and healthy. We tried the chicken, plantains, yucca fries, wraps, and unique drinks. I love their herbal lemonade (basil, rosemary with mint). The purple corn drink with cinnamon was so unique and refreshing. I loved Viva Chicken in Ballantyne...but for some reason, I haven't been back in years. This time, I tried this Elizabeth location with my husband...and I have to be frank. This location paled in comparison to that at the much larger and nicer Ballantyne location. Of course that was like 6 years ago? First of all, aesthetically, this place just felt a bit off. The walk-up to the counter was very narrow...and the layout felt a bit too narrow and tight. Also, the menu selection seemed much smaller than I remembered it. At the Ballantyne location, I also remember that they had this Sangria drink...but not here. They did have 2 juice flavors...but nothing too exciting. In any case, I had the same item that I enjoyed before...the Peruvian Fried Rice. Again, it looked and tasted a bit weaker than I had remembered it. I did enjoy the 2 sauces that greatly helped the bland flavor of the rice. Also tried their Mini Churros...which were quite good. My husband enjoyed the Rotisserie chicken, and his 2 sides...but he felt the same as me, in that the layout felt tight and awkward. Overall, we thought the foods were good enough to return. The Peruvian rice is perfect. The chicken does need to be cooked longer. It is just as pink as in the pictures. I got a half chicken and could barely eat half of it because it was too pink. I know that some pink is normal and safe but this was just too much. The food was good though. The mint herbal drink was delicious. I would return. The staff was super friendly. read more

Stopped by for lunch. Group of three. Parking is decent across the street in what was probably an old bank lot. The building has been removed. Order and then go seat yourself and they bring it out. Weather was so awesome we are outside. I had the Peruvian fried rice with chicken. The other two had the rotisserie chicken and green beans which looked awesome. Plenty of food and they had multiple Peruvian teas. They had the chica morida style so I had two of them. Yep delicious. Everything was great. read more

I had the one pc dark meat, cilantro rice, and plantains. All were delicious. My only complaint is that you are charged $0.50 for each extra sauce. Come on now, free extra sauce to your customers isn't going to be your downfall. Small seating area, so I could see it getting packed quickly, but I like the aspect of kiosk ordering. The OG Viva Chicken of Charlotte I've been coming here for years. The food and service is normally consistent. This location like the others is always busy. Parking is kinda weird but you more than likely will find a space. I ordered some of their seasonal items once. Not sure if only this location carries seasonal items but I never saw them at the other locations or on their menus. I didn't really enjoy the seasonal items. The veggies in one dish weren't cooked completely and chopped very large. The last time I visited the staff was very short with me and not the friendliest. Absolutely love Viva Chicken. First time at this location, but it was close to where my son lives. Inside was much smaller than I expected, put they have a huge enclosed patio and good size outdoor patio. The service was great. The lady behind the counter was so friendly and offered us great suggestions. My son and I shared the Vegetarian Inca Burrito with a side of plantains, the Quinoa Avocado salad with chicken, and Vegetarian Arroz Chaufa. We washed it down with their house made drinks the Chicha Morada and the Maracuya Glass which complimented each dish well. Everything was amazing! Good food! I absolutely love the naked wrap because it is packed with fresh ingredients and the queso fresco is a lovely change from any traditional cheese. What I don't love is how you have to pay extra to add protein to a wrap, which brings the wrap to 12$. It's frustrating when wraps are priced as a veggie only then you have to add extra for meat, I find it misleading. I also don't love how it take 25 minutes for a wrap to be assembled. My guarantee ready time was 8pm and by 805 I was still waiting in the store. It's a chaotic system. I was given someone else's food first, luckily, I realized this and returned and but then had to wait extra for my own food to come out. read more

I've been to Viva Chicken several times, but this was a new location for me. The inside was a lot smaller than the others I've been to. There's plenty of seating outside though. We got the Arroz Chaufa and the Tacu Bowl (and added chicken to both). Both were good and rice heavy. Make sure you get their sauces to add to it. My favorite is the yellow sauce followed by the green. I wouldn't say Viva Chicken is one of my favorite restaurants, but it's always a solid, consistent choice. read more

One thing I've found in my Yelp travels is that many US cities have one particularly loved Peruvian rotisserie eatery, and that such an eatery is usually one of the top-five-rated restaurants in town. Charlotte is one such city, and here the restaurant is Viva. I got a quarter white platter with canary beans, the specialty corn salad (solorito), and couple of sauces, and everything was delicious, both individually and in tandem (though maybe a touch too salty for my tastes). It made for a slightly pricy lunch at around $12, but it was well worth it. read more

Visited Charlotte NC a fee days last week and discovered Viva Chicken! Viva is a Peruvian rotisserie deli. There are several locations around Charlotte. The restaurant offers walk up ordering. Your food is delivered to your table. The menu is more diverse than most Peruvian style eateries. There are sandwiches, wraps, soups and the house specialty, rotisserie chicken. There is quarter chicken, half chicken, chicken wraps and all types of South American salad and chicken combos. There are several side offerings to include the special fried rice, fries, white rice, plantains, spicy beans, canary beans, and crisp house salads. I visited the restaurant twice during my three day stay in Charlotte. Yeah, Viva Chicken is the truth! The service was courteous and prompt. The chicken pieces were moist and perfectly spiced. We picked up a family rotisserie chicken meal from there yesterday and the last time I went to this location, the food was very good, however, this time it was the opposite. The chicken leg quarters were not all the way done and very very pink in the middle. The green beans were so overly seasoned we couldn't even eat them. The beans were OK but definitely not like I remember them and the Peruvian rice was just OK. We wound up picking at our food and throwing the rest of it away. $32 wasted! read more

Needed to grab a quick lunch and went to viva chicken. I got a 1/4 chicken dark meat, sweet potato fries and green beans. I scarfed the whole entire meal down. It was so delicious! The green beans were petite and made with soy and ginger I was sold as soon as they told me that. The chicken was flavorful and so moist. The sweet potato fries were perfect. Not sure how they ran out so fast but I would have loved to try it because the yellow sauce was just ok and the red was cold and just spicy no real flavor. Thankfully the chicken was flavorful and juicy, the white rice was white rice and the plantains were cooked beautifully. Also the cashier was great and provided excellent service. All in all, I would visit again but no rush to go back again. Viva Chicken still takes the lead for now for me. I would love them to mature their side menu, increase their sanitation grade and have the green sauce available.

She just plainly said would you like to have three scallops added to your meal or a lobster tail now I understand that there are many people that would go in and not have a problem with the price however, it should be stated how much the up charge is going to be and it should be in writing on the menu because we looked back on the menu and there was not a price for up charge on the scallops . My friend was not happy with the service nor the cost of the scallops . The manager did not really know how to handle the situation but because I invited everyone I wanted to make it right and I asked to pay part of her bill and of course my friend denied and said it'd be best. If we just not come back she said the food wasn't bad the food was actually good however, the waitress was definitely not as friendly focused as she should have been and not willing to help make our experience the best I will say the manager should have been able to accommodate her request and move forward and be kind and understand her point. I will be back and I would love for my friends to come back. The ambiance was very nice and the drinks and food were good as well. Please note the manager at the end gave us a $10 coupon for next visit but our friends were not happy with the outcome. Post reservation I received both an email and text message confirmation. I even got a 1hr out text that included parking options and an address which was very helpful. The staff here are ALL very kind, knowledgeable and welcoming. The bar seating is intimate but I felt we had plenty of space to eat comfortably. Our plates were also cleared almost immediately after each dish was finished so it never felt crowded. The food was great. At first we were presented only regular menus but when I mentioned to my server that I prefer veggie rolls he went and grabbed me a separate menu that had plenty of options to honor my picky pallet. He was great in both recommending dishes and explaining in detail how things were prepared. Food comes out when it's ready so there was a constant rotation of plates coming in and out. Everything was made to order and extremely fresh. I had a little singular avocado bite sushi and it was to die for. A one bite tease but super worth it. The drinks were tasty and the overall dinner experience was perfect. This was a 10/10 experience for me and I can't wait to come back.

The goat cheese was amazing. I shared my penne ala vodka with my partners chicken parmesan. This is one of the best chicken parmesans I have had. We requested fresh pasta for both. Order their homemade pasta and be prepared to share. Portions were above average. For dessert you must try the cheesecake. Smooth and well balanced. One improvement could be the chocolate cake. This was dry and kacked the chocolate flavor the menu teased. The service was great. Ill be back in September.
