I was really excited to stop in and try the Mo'Bay Beignet Company. Street parking was taken up right in front of the restaurant, so I had to park two blocks away and walk, which was a pleasant walk as other people were walking to various restaurants in the area The inside is light and airey with a friendly feel. The register is located in the back area of the restaurant with seating in the front area. I'll definitely visit here again when I'm in town. This was a delicious treat. read more

They know what they're doing, the beignet recipe is spot on, the sauces (we had the buttercream) they offer compliment nicely (but aren't the star of the show), the cafe au lait is tasty, and their timing is off to a great start with managing the masses! -- they'll need it! I went to the grand opening and Mobile was definitely in the house! They have to have made over 1 million beignets(not an exaggeration) between the hours of 5-9. Stopped in after the Nutcracker. Waited about 10 minutes for the beignets. After eating them, decided to buy one of their gift baskets that was in display. Asked questions about what my option choices would be (type of flavoring syrup). Person at the register ring me up and I paid. Then they said they would call their manager to find out what DAY it would be ready. Nowhere at the display did it say that you needed to order in advance, nor did the employee say anything about it. It looked like a very simple to assemble gift, so I assumed they would either have some premade or could quickly put the prepackaged items into the basket and wrap it. It didn't have fancy bows, etc. I said wait, I didn't know it would take days. I don't live in Mobile. She called the manager (or someone), who then said it would need to be picked up in the West Mobile location - (what?)! Had her cancel and refund me. The beignets came out hot and fresh. They were quite different from the New Orleans beignets. They were actually quite chewy and a dough was tough. Cute little beignet/coffee shop in downtown mobile. Street parking was ample at 10 am when I went and there was no line. Staff was very sweet and the food came out quick. Since they reopen after the being shut down from covid-19, I decided to check them out when it wouldn't be so crowded. It was a steady flow of traffic but we managed to get inside to the register before it got too crowded. I've heard great things about the beignets and the dipping sauce. There's buttercream and cinnamon. When we got there the raspberry ( seasonal) was sold out. I asked the cashier what she recommended she said that one serving of beignets was enough for two people and she was right. Those fluffy layers of goodness were plenty for us to share. All of them were drenched in powdered sugar, the only way to eat a beignet, and every mouthful was yummy. My brother decided to devour his beignet with a butter cream sauce. he said it was good but he could probably do without it because the beignet itself was amazing. I decided to devour my beignet naked well clothed in powdered sugar. I really don't have to have the sauce.
