What a disappointment. My wife, as a Father's Day treat, bought an assortment of donuts and a cinnamon roll and we each had a portion of each. The quality of the Sugar Rush donuts, at least from what I remember from its founding, is certainly not the same. I remember that each donut or roll seemed fresh and freshly cooked. Each donut along with its glaze, topping or filling,seemed made of natural and fresh ingredients. The batch we had today seemed no better than what one might purchase at a Walmart or Publix. I can only guess that Sugar Rush must have been bought by someone not as concerned with freshness or natural ingredients. That's all good for the owner, but it will likely keep us away from their door in the future. read more

I pretty much stopped eating donuts as they were not worth the calories. Sugar rush donuts has changed all that!! These donuts are some of the best I've ever eaten. And I have traveled all over the world! The dough is so amazing and the toppings and fillings are fresh and delicious. I'm not sure who waited on us, but she was a sweetheart! We stopped in just before the place closed on Saturday. Sugar Rush is a must try donut place! I've been coming here for years and just love the assortment and they're all so fresh and yummy! I got the turkey, egg, and cheese sandwich heated up which was nice and hit the savory spot and a king cake donut to get into the mardi gras mood. The service here is so spot on and nice! I ordered a vanilla iced coffee and I'm the type to think every iced coffee is never sweet enough, but BOY this place gave me sweet SWEET vanilla milk basically! Honestly theres no point in going to any other doughnut shops other than this place, it puts all the others to shame! I brought my daughter in the other day for the first time and I highly recommend the maple bacon!! Doughnuts are fresh and fluffy and melt in your mouth. A few years back I saw fruity pebble donuts on a foodie website and added them to my "want to try" mental list. I thought about them the other day and started looking up donut shops in the area. I found Sugar Rush Donut Co. and browsed through some pictures and saw the fruity pebble one I had always wanted to try. This morning, my friend decided to pick some up for us. He got the fruity pebble one, Mardi Gras one, and a raspberry filled. They tossed in a few donut holes which was a really cute touch. While the presentation was cute, the real test would be the taste. I'm ok with good food that looks ugly but definitely not ok with pretty food that tastes bad. Anyway, I am happy to say the donuts are both pretty and delicious! :) I would definitely give this business a whirl. I found Sugar Rush donuts in my Yelp searching before a recent trip to Mobile, and thanks, Yelpers. Y'all brought me to a good spot on this one! My friends and I flew into Mobile, and after getting our rental car, this was our first stop! They were open on 4th of July, so that was nice. We arrived around 10 AM or 11 AM, and they still have an ample selection of donuts and were putting more out. The staff was very friendly, and they gave us suggestions, answered our questions, etc. I settled on a Reese's donut and a maple bacon. They were both DELICIOUS; they didn't make it very far, because I ate them quickly. There is a restroom and ample parking here. They also have bubble tea, which i wanted to try, but I held back. I would definitely go back to Sugar Rush if I was in Mobile again! read more

Driving Cross County, I stayed in Mobile overnight at an Airbnb and was recommended Sugar Rush by my host. I looked it up and decided to stop in on my drive towards Texas. I am glad I did. When you walk in you get greeted by a case of so magnum donut choices, it was overwhelming for my 1st time. After talking to the guy behind the counter I ended getting a Lemon Filled, Old Fashion Sour cream and a Pig in a Blanket. The pig in a blanket was really god and the Jalapeño and cheese was a bonus. The Cake was good but the Lemon filled was the star. It was amazing! I can see the recommendations and also why my hose told me I had to. This place is Amazing! read more

My now husband and I used to love Sugar Rush so much that we would get donuts from there on our anniversary each year! So when we got engaged last year, I knew that I wanted Sugar Rush donuts at our wedding! I messaged the company through social media, email, and called them. It took months to even get someone to message me back with info. Finally someone that worked there apologized for the inconvenience and told me to call their personal phone number to set up the donut reservation for the wedding reception. I called...and called...and called with no answer. Then I left a voicemail...no call back. So I messaged them back on Instagram (where they send me their number originally) and they told me to text them instead. So I did...no answer... I finally got tired of the runaround and I went with another donut shop closer to us and everything went smoothly and they got our business! Used to love this place, and used to go here all the time. Went to get doughnuts during the COVID pandemic while there was a city and state mask ordinance, and no one was wearing masks. Hard to tell what they are doing to the food if they can't even wear masks! I called to tell them that I was uncomfortable with them not wearing masks while handling food and dealing with customers. Ok, so these doughnuts are LEGIT! I'd heard tell of their greatness, but I like to be judge, jury, and executioner (thanks Vic...lol)! After visiting for what was supposed to be a small taste and leaving with an assorted dozen (yep, the hubs highjacked the trip), Sugar Rush has my vote. We tried a bit of everything (over a two day period), and all were fresh, soft, and DELISH... but I'd be remiss if I didn't share that they have a lemon poppyseed doughnut (which was forced on me by the hubs as I usually don't do doughnut flavors, toppings, nor fillings) that is not to be played with! -- It's a real American hero and can hold its own against any doughnut, anywhere! My favorite donut shop in Mobile! As someone who once worked in a small donut shop, I know a good donut when I taste one! Sugar Rush always delivers, and I've yet to have one that hasn't hit the mark from their basic cake donuts to their squishy yeast ones to their delicious fritters. The owner is always working whether he's boxing up your donuts or decorating in the back, and he's so nice chatting with customers and answering questions. As with many donut shops, if you want the widest selection to choose from, you better get there early! (Hint: 9 AM on a Saturday isn't early enough.) read more

But, get Sugar Rush doughnuts, and people are excited; they stand in front of the box debating on the one they want. With a group consensus, they often cut them in 1/2 to have the joy of experience more than one. The product is consistently good, and so is the service. From the moment you walk in the door, the staff is engaging, the owner is always cheerful and strikes a conversation with you. Even when he is not there, he has set the standard, because the other staff is equally as kind and friendly. Sugar Rush clever name for exactly what happens after eating anything from this great donut shop. Nice selection of donuts but I'm picky when trying a new shop, donut shop. So, I stuck to the basics, well my basics, the glaze and the apple fritter. The glaze donut was great and guess what, it came with conecuh sausage, well you do have a pay a little more. The verdict: it was good. The glazed donut was delicious, light, non greasy with minimal glaze. The sausage great! Well, you can go wrong with the conecuh, unless you put it in a doughnut with the casing. It was hard to enjoy it as a sandwich because the donut wasn't firm enough and the casing on the sausage was tough. I really liked the doughnut though alot. The apple fritter was very good. I am definitely picky about my fritters. It's the thing I try at any donut shop. This one is certainly in the top 3 of local fritters. Besides being good, it was crispy, delicious and huge! So huge it should definitely be shared. Don't take on this alone, get some a friends on board. Overall, I liked it. When I want a sugar rush, I'm rushing to Sugar Rush. As such I scoured yelp in search of Mobile's best and there I was at Sugar Rush, situated in a slightly run down strip mall with a slightly run down donut shop. I'd say the donut selection and variety exceeds what I'd expect from the appearance of the establishment, where the donut's taste are on par. After a great decisive struggle I went with the French toast with peanuts and the Lemon Poppyseed. I'd never seen a Lemon Poppy donut before, I'd recommend trying it! Hands down the best donut spot in the city. I make it a point to come every time I visit home. My personal favorites are the strawberry, the maple bacon, and the apple fritters. They also hand out bags of donut holes on occasion which is always appreciated. Donuts are always fresh. I recommend going early as you can so you can get the full selection. They close at 2PM so close to closing time options may be limited. I'll choose this place over Krispy Kreme every time. You can't beat the quality of their donuts. The prices are more than fair for what you get. Be sure to get enough so you don't have to share! I usually get a half dozen for the family and then my own personal box. I can think of the top 3 (donuts are my weakness) and lucky for me, two of those are in Louisiana where I live. But I regret not ordering a dozen when I stopped by here on a road trip for some coffee (they had real half and half which is a must). When I first started going to Sugar rush, I was going to the midtown location. Since they closed that store, I have frequented the airport store many times. I'm not sure if they have changed their recipe over the years, but I they keep getting tastier by the year. The donuts are always fresh, the variety is awesome and the workers are so nice. Started by a guy from Bayou le Batre, and he had as many ways to make donuts as Bubba has to make shrimp. I wanted to try one of each, but since I wasn't wearing my stretchy pants, I just ordered the strawberry cheesecake donut. The hubs had a German chocolate and a maple bacon and my sons had the Boston Creme and turtle donuts. Holy cow! I can honestly say these are the best donuts we've ever had!
