    Cinnamon Roll $5.98. May 2024
    Rachel S.

I just finished a 10 day tour of the US South and made sure to stop by this gluten-free bakery while staying in Mobile, Alabama. This is everything that I bought at Guncles gluten-free bakery in Mobile, Alabama this past Saturday! I purchased: 1 cinnamon roll. $5.98 2 pack of oatmeal creme pies. $13.98 1 Raspberry lemon friand. $7.98 3 pack of cheddar herb biscuits $8.98 Mobile, Alabama sales tax is 10% which added another $3.69 to our bill for a total of $40.61 I've been to 33 US states and this is in my top 2 favorites for gluten-free bakeries. Yes, it is spendy so it is a treat, but these were INDISTINGUISHABLE from gluten products. It was shocking how the texture was so on point. I was diagnosed 3 years ago and I remember how "regular" food tastes and this tastes like the real thing. If I could only get one item, I'd get the cheddar herb biscuits. They were incredible. I had my non-celiac husband try everything and he said it tasted like the real thing. A male staff member walked us through the options and suggested a mini cake. We had to pass because we were not going to be anywhere with a refrigerator for the rest of the day. We got these items to-go because we had to be in Mississippi before lunch time. There is a small area for sitting inside but if you have a party of more than 2, you will need to take over the outside picnic tables. Visited May 2024

I love Guncles so much that we arranged our travel schedule to be able to come here on our drive back from Pensacola! So often, gluten free foods just taste slightly off. Not at Guncles. Their baguettes rock every fiber of my being! This time, we got some take home cinnamon rolls. MMM MMM MMM!!! Absolutely delicious. Further, the owners are awesome: so kind and personable. Also, this visit, I met some employees who I didn't meet when I came a couple years ago, and they are super awesome, too! If you are within an hour of the Mobile area, I am so serious that you need to add this to a top place to visit. I am so grateful for their delicious baked goods for not only the gluten free community, but beyond. This place is amazing.

My daughter found this place by using her find me gluten free app. All the reviews said that it's a must stop business with a variety of gluten-free options to go. what a wonderful small and local business that offers such a huge variety of baked goods that are all gluten-free. The customer service was top notch. The employee helped us by showing us what their best sellers were and gave us her recommendations. My daughter decided to get some cookies and cupcakes. She said everything was delicious and tested fresh. We will definitely have to come back when we're in the area again to try the biscuits and other options.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I haven't had the pleasure of visiting your bakery. However, a dear friend visiting Mobile from Las Vegas found your chocolate chip cookies so irresistible she had to bring us back a few. Whoa Guncles, you nailed this timeless treat. Your chocolate chip cookies are decadent, thick, slightly crisp around the edges with a perfect fudgy, gooey center.... An absolute chocolate lovers dream come true!!! Thank You Linda and thank you Guncles

Friendly people and the best gluten-free baked goods I've had. I haven't had a cinnamon roll in 15 years! It was everything I remember! Great experience and I will return every time I'm in Mobile. Thank you!

Amazing baked goods, and not just "good for gluten free." Listen. Anyone who has eaten gluten free food knows that people try but it is not always stellar. That is not the case at this incredible bakery! I happened on it while visiting the mobile area and searching for GF places to eat. I went Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and completely plan on going back once more before I leave town to stock up on some of the frozen items and probably will get some fresh things too! People who eat Gluten and gluten free will both enjoy these incredible goodies! I will be back anytime I am close to the Mobile area! They have safe Covid protocol if that is something you are worried about where they meet you outside with a cart with today's offerings and you pick what you want and pay there.

However, were we're very pleasantly surprised to find that the new ownership, a Jamaican woman is also gluten free and fully intends to expand GF options to include GF onion rings on the appetizer list. She is currently deciding which menu items will be replaced with more requested items. The new owner is a friendly, warm person with a feel for greeting and making diners feel welcome. We were greatly relieved that she has great Jamaican recipes that will add to the otherwise seafood specialties. My wife has been GF for several years and has been unable to enjoy most fried foods including seafood due to wheat flour. However, we were able to enjoy a wonderful GF fried seafood platter and only the hush puppies were not GF. We also had the delicious crab bisque that is also GF. I am fortunate to NOT be allergic to anything so I was treated to a delicious chocolate truffle that is absolutely the best. This delicacy will soon be available GF. If you are looking for a coastal restaurant with GF options in the Mobile or Daphne causeway area, you should try the Elite Pierhouse restaurant. You won't be dissatisfied. Great food, spectacular views and really good service with moderate prices. Not fast food, but really great southern seafood with Jamaican flare.

I wish that I could say that I was the one at our household who discovered Dropout Bakery, but I cannot. Instead it was my wife who, searching for someplace other than a supermarket to purchase a King Cake for our Mardi Gras celebration, found this fine bakery. Now, as I have never actually been to its location in downtown Mobile, it should be understood that this review is based solely on my experience with consuming their product. My wife learned that this bakery has an online ordering system, and that the product ordered through their website should be picked up the following morning. She further learned that, because of high demand, their in store product usually sales out within minutes of their opening each day. So as a first try she ordered a 6 inch King Cake, a small spinach quiche, and two petit-fours. The next morning she drove downtown and found, as she had learned it would be from online reviews, a long line to the bakery of customers waiting for the business to open. After going the long queue and finally upon reaching the interior, she found her online order waiting for her, separated from the other produce which was being quickly bought up by the customers in shop. This small business simply does not yet have the manpower or equipment to produce enough product to last beyond one day. Which is a good thing for customers who insist on same day freshness. The quiche and petit-fours did not survive long enough for me a get a photograph of each, but I did manage to get a photo of the King Cake, which I have included in this review. Finally, we found each item to be superbly delicious and very much worth the effort. We will be back again soon in order to sample more of their product, especially their larger King Cake when Mardi Gras season rolls around again next year.

My partner and I went straight to the top floor and were seated in a spot that allowed us to see the entire city view. It was very clear that this was a fine dining spot, because I was given a blazer by the restaurant staff since I failed to dress up for this occasion. I have never tried alligator meat before and managed to taste it for the first time here. It tasted like popcorn chicken and having Thai chili sauce was a good move because it offered the dish good flavor. I didn't use any of the ranch dressing. The gulf shrimp chowder was extremely tasty because it contained a good amount of black pepper and a lot of shrimp and cream corn, making the soup taste creamy in a flavorful way. My partner had great things to say about the duck, which was a specialty dish. The maple glaze was obvious and provided the duck breast meat with good flavor. However, the green beans were very plain with barely any seasoning. I ordered the farmer's plate, which was a vegetarian dish, and I thought that it was overall only okay because the snow peas were very undercooked, and they occupied majority of the dish. The green tomatoes, tomatillos, and zucchini all tasted very good. In terms of desserts, the chocolate cake was very hot and moist inside, which made it clear that it was fresh. The outer crust was very crispy but the inside tasted too plain. The key lime pie was very well-made, with a soft layer of graham crackers along with tasty mango syrup and hibiscus reduction defining the extra taste. Overall they both tasted great. I must mention that our server Ashleigh was very attentive and helpful. My partner and I appreciated her help a lot during our experience. Also, it was good to listen to some quiet live performances during the dinner because it added an extra level of vibe.
