This bakery is truly a diamond in a rough and a hidden gem. I did not even know it existed until two days ago, but it absolutely did not disappoint. I ordered the triple chocolate cake from my wife's birthday. She is beautiful, loving and very picky so the cake had to be special. And it was. The cake was moist, rich and perfectly balanced. The chocolate was not too sweet and every bite felt like the stars and the planets had a line. It was simply perfect. After placing my order, I read some of the reviews and decided to call the bakery. Lucky for me. I spoke with one of the owners who assured me that everything would be exquisite. She made me feel valued and appreciate it and I'm sure they go out of their way to make every customer feel the same way. We did NOT enjoy our cupcakes at all.. they were very dry, and the icing was crunchie like the sugar wasn't done/ smooth? Idk. They also cost the most out of all the places we tried. The owner, I believe that was the lady who "helped" me.. was very snooty. As a customer, I felt like I was unwelcome. So, needless to say, we will not be back. Higher prices and lower quality aren't anything we are looking for. And to be treated like a bug or an unwanted customer from the get-go isn't a good way to get people back. I'm very disappointed. I changed my rating because I placed a pre-order on Sunday for pickup on Wednesday. The pick up window is 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. when I arrived my order was ready. They told me it would be another 30 minutes because they were baking. They could have text or called to say that the order would not be ready or that it would be delayed. I emailed and called after I left the bakery. I received a email at 7:02 p.m. that I could pick up the items that I ordered the following day. When I called the bakery directly, I left a voicemail and I never received a call back. The Sammies are good the customer service could have been a much better. read more

Very cute little shop hidden away on the Far East end of Airport Blvd. had an unusual selection of sweets. Everything from Rainbow Cupcakes to Cakes in a Jar! Flavors were very good. Only knock on it from me was the price. It was a little steep. Though quality is usually higher priced. read more

I will tell you something about these ladies...they are FABULOUS! From our cake tasting all the way to the wedding day. They exceeded my expectations with our beautiful cookies, my wedding cake, and groom cake. They took are ideas and went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfectly sweet. I can't wait to go back on our one year anniversary to get a cake from them! This is now our bakery for sure. I am so disappointed. I ordered cakes in jars for my husband's birthday on Grubhub with 24 hours advanced notice, and 40 minutes after my confirmed scheduled delivery, my order was abruptly canceled. This left me with no dessert for the celebration dinner I planned! luckily I found another bakery who is delivering last minute cupcakes to me, and while I appreciate them saving the day, I am not getting the novelty or the flavors I wanted. I could never have chosen a better bakery and a better set of amazing people who truly understood me to work with for my wedding. My wedding was offbeat, and there were many details that were unique and not typical of many Southern weddings, but the ladies at ellenJay saw what I was going for (carnival-themed, fall festival, slight Day of the Dead twinged festival of lights, family, and love) and completely helped me go with it. I loved the entire experience, from my cake tasting to the day of, and never felt insecure about how the finished product would turn out. Their products are DELICIOUS!!! LET'S NOT FORGET THAT! Simply heavenly! I honestly am not that much of a "cake person", but I'm fairly certain I could live off of their cakes and cookies for the rest of my life. Our actual wedding cake was their sweet potato flavor with classic vanilla. We served cupcakes in that flavor, as well as in vanilla to go alongside it. We also had a cakewalk at the wedding and gave away some of their six-inch cakes in some fun flavors. My guests were starstruck to win a cotton candy, funfetti, and gorgeous oreo cake! My husband and I are so excited to come back and celebrate our anniversary with some more treats at ellenJay for our anniversary next year. In the meantime, I'll probably be back for a cookie or two.
